Hi everyone. I thought we could do with a new shiny thread.

All runners are welcome here :)

A massive well done to all runners this week. I managed to get out today and did 3.5 miles in 32 minutes. It made me feel slightly less guilty about missing parkrun on Saturday (although it is the first since August so not too bad).

I'm up for 11 jam in Northampton. I did 8.8k today in 1:01 - furthest distance I've ever done so really chuffed. I'm never going to be the speediest person but I think pushing myself towards 10k is helping my 5k times.

OhFourFiftyNineThirtyFive · 24/11/2013 18:27

Oh so much running, so little time!

I had a lovely run this morning, about 10K, but deliberately didn't take my garmin because I didn't want to know for far/fast I as going. I got into a really nice ryhthm and had been ran for about 1:15. Some of it was a bit slow and muddy, but I enjoyed being out, especially as I didn't sleep well last night and needed some endorphins to carry me through the day Grin.

Yay drama! Glad you are on for 11th Jan Smile.

Standingonlego · 24/11/2013 19:02

Excited abut 11th Jan now...so far that is OhFour, Drama and hopefully blathers if she is feeling better. All welcome :)

Standingonlego · 24/11/2013 19:03

Northampton...not the glamour capital of the world, but about 1 hour away from many more interesting places Grin

Standingonlego · 24/11/2013 23:11

Breaking news....that only you lot will get, i as 1st in my age category yesterday :) Just seen the proper results e-mail. Only because some regulars were not there, but all the same i am Grin.

cinnamongreyhound · 24/11/2013 23:14

Yay! Well done Standingonlego! I was First Lady this week but only a total of 12 ladies/ 25 total runners.

Does anyone know the point of the points table?

Standingonlego · 25/11/2013 07:59

Yay back at you cinnamon that really is fabulous :)

No idea on points table, I just ignore that bit!

OhFourFiftyNineThirtyFive · 25/11/2013 09:58

Go lego and cinnamon! We have some stars in our midst! Brilliant!

The top three men and women in the points table got prizes at our pr's birthday/anniversary this year. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that I'm in the top ten. You seem to get more points for volunteering than you do for running (I think the running points thing is based on your time), so if you turn up regularly and volunteer from time to time you can quite easily pick up points.

MelanieCheeks · 25/11/2013 10:50

I was top of our points table for quite a while, until I missed 2 ParkRuns. I know the girl who's overtaken me, and we have a bit of friendly banter/ rivalry going on.

You get 100 points for volunteering, but that's capped at 300 points towards the table. I was timekeeper on Saturday. Running points are 100 for first lady home, 99 for the second, 98 for third etc. The number 3 slot on our points table is currently taken by one of the slowest runners, but she turns up faithfully every week.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 25/11/2013 11:42

That's great lego

I was 100th lady from more than 400 runners! Ours seems to be a massive Parkrun!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 25/11/2013 11:43

Sorry cinnamon missed your First Lady result too. Well done!

OhFourFiftyNineThirtyFive · 25/11/2013 19:53

Thanks for the explanation Melanie!

cinnamongreyhound · 25/11/2013 22:24

Not sure where my earlier post went!

I said I'm second in the points table but unlikely to be first as I volunteer more than the lady who's first despite getting more points in the ones I run I won't catch up, had all 300 volunteering points but be nice to get a prize for 2nd.

Still chasing the place :)

Runlikeagirl · 26/11/2013 18:53

I got a charity place for the GNR! Excited and a but scared! Need to start running further than 5k!

IsThatTrue · 26/11/2013 19:36

Standingonlego · 26/11/2013 20:37

runlike that is FABULOUS news, how exciting!!!! Lots of time to train, is it September time?

Standingonlego · 26/11/2013 20:37

Which charity are you running in aid of?

Runlikeagirl · 27/11/2013 12:59

Yes September. I'm running for Rethink, the mental health charity.

MelanieCheeks · 27/11/2013 13:23

Brilliant, Run, and Cinnamon, here's hoping for your chasetheplace!

My new running shoes have arrived - blimey, that was quick work from SweatShop! I shall try them out at training session tonight. I went for the Brooks Rawenna ones. What does anyone else wear?

cinnamongreyhound · 27/11/2013 13:48

Yay Runlikeagirl! Don't panic too much yet, I think steady build up is easier than you expect :)

I have Nike somethings Wink MelanieCheeks, I went to a local shop and they filmed me running and suggested three pairs, two felt good so I went with the cheapest. The guy who served me said he always favours brooks. I have got some brooks adrenaline ASR's on my birthday wishlist as my last pair were bought in Jan.

Blatherskite · 27/11/2013 14:58

I wear New Balance 1080 v3s with Footbalance insoles. They're hideously pink/purple but so, so comfy. I forefoot land so the lower heel suits me perfectly.

That's when I'm running of course. Calf has got so much better but seems to have stalled. I can walk easily now but get a pain if I tip toe or try to tense the muscle. I've got an appointment with my physio on Friday so hopefully he'll be able to tell me whether I should run on Saturday or not as I've got a 10k night run in the evening.

Congrats on your GNR place RunLikeAGirl. I'd love to do the GNR

OhFourFiftyNineThirtyFive · 27/11/2013 18:12

I run in Saucony Triumph 10s.
Hope the physio appointment goes well Blathers. I too would love to do the GNR.Smile

Standingonlego · 27/11/2013 18:25

I have Saucony Omnis - had version 8, currently in 9 and have 11's on my Christmas list! Same shoe, slight update each season in colour etc. I did the GNR pre-DC, about 10 years ago - it was fabulous :)

Standingonlego · 27/11/2013 18:26

Hope it goes well with the physio blathers
