Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

cinnamongreyhound · 18/10/2013 07:22

Aaahhh I'm really disappointed now OhOneOhTwoOhThree Wink

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/10/2013 10:21
Grin

I will rewrite it next time I have wine and am feeling the love Blush.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/10/2013 22:15

So who is running tomorrow?

Blatherskite · 18/10/2013 22:17

Me, me, me! Number 47 tomorrow!

cinnamongreyhound · 18/10/2013 22:21

Not me :( I'm on a boring course 9.30-4 :( :( :(

IsThatTrue · 19/10/2013 05:37

I'm running, doing my local flat course and volunteering. Just collecting the signs back in but every little helps and all that. DS2 seems to think I don't need sleep for such activities though Hmm

It is looking very grey here, but bot actually rainingSmile

PepeLePew · 19/10/2013 10:16

I did it. I was really nervous which was silly as I know I can run 5k. But everyone was very friendly and encouraging. It's such a great idea and was so well organised.

It was a tough run, though. I know the park well but didn't realise that after the second killer hill you got sent down and back up the first one again. I didn't have much left in my legs by the end of that! But I think it was about 29.30 which isn't fast but not bad with the hills. There's another (flat) ParkRun nearby so I may try that one next time.

IsThatTrue · 19/10/2013 11:03

pepe 29.20 is a great time! When I started I was pleased with 33.20 (the start of this thread). Well done! And now you may find yourself a little addicted. Wink

Well I may have been on for a pb (I think I was about 5 seconds over) but I slipped and fell at about 4k. Nothing was damaged except my pride and I kept going but didn't have a proper sprint in me for the end.

I'm going to have to get some trail runners to give me more grip.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/10/2013 11:14

Well done pepe!

Hope you are OK IsThat.

Not sure of my time - my garmin couldn't find a signal so I only switched it on part-way through the first lap. I chased the man who has just beaten me the last two or three times I've been and finished just behind him as usual. I will beat him one day even if I have to trip him up Grin.

wem · 19/10/2013 11:35

Hello parkrunners. I've been out of it recently with a horrible cough/cold that left my chest feeling really tight for weeks, but I've got back into it this week :). My time will most likely be awful, but I got round it when half way through I was very very close to having a sit down and wait for DH to come pick me up. I also managed to stop myself from walking on the last lap (had stopped earlier in the course briefly) by telling myself it would just get harder to get going again, and plod plodded on round the rest of the course :) No sprint at the end though, maybe next time!

IsThatTrue · 19/10/2013 11:56

Well done for carrying on wem

I'm fine ohone have a bit of a scrape on my shin but no real damage.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/10/2013 12:26

Well done wem for keeping going!

IsThatTrue · 19/10/2013 13:07

27.14, so 1 second quicker! Still a pb though lol!

OP posts:
OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/10/2013 13:14

You are amazing OhOne! 6 minutes off your time in less than three months!

Blatherskite · 19/10/2013 14:29

Number 47 done and dusted. Took it slowly and chatted with a friend the whole way round. Really got to stop doing that and start pushing or else I'm going to be the slowest on this thread soon!

Going for a 9 mile run tomorrow. Distances always seem to help with my speed and I'm desperate to PB on my 50th parkrun which means getting under 26:19.

Blatherskite · 19/10/2013 14:32

Oh and well done for going along Pepe. Welcome to the parkrun family :)

woundbobbin · 19/10/2013 15:01

Hello everyone. I've had a few weeks off with weddings & birthdays and a cold.
Went today with the intention of a very slow jog round. Bumped into a friend and ended up trying to keep up with her was a bit dead at the end but she did push the buggy for the 4th k which was kind.

PepeLePew · 19/10/2013 15:37

Thanks everyone - I feel as welcome here as I did this morning! Just checked my time online - 29.01 Grin.
That's slightly slower than I'd expect to do 5k on a less hilly route, but I'm ridiculously pleased as I would never usually have attempted the second hill, never mind the third!

I am a bit alarmed to see I am in the "veteran" category, though...I want to ask if they will put a "but only by three days" note next to my name!!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/10/2013 16:57
Sad

I was somewhere between 28:29 (person ahead of me) and 28:38 (person behind me) - my barcode didn't scan properly so I am showing up as "Unknown". I've emailed to ask if there's anything they can do Smile.

wem · 19/10/2013 17:44

That's a shame OhOne, I hope they can slot you in. Good that you could identify yourself.

37.36 for me. Ah well, I'll just have to be quicker next week!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/10/2013 17:47

I knew what place I came because it was a laminated bit of card instead of a Parkrun token Smile. And it was double figures instead of triple Grin, my highest ever placing.

MelanieCheeks · 19/10/2013 17:52

Great times this morning!

I did a 28:17, a measly ONE second off my PB! Really pleased with that - there were a lot of wet leaves on the paths after yesterday's torrential rain, so I was holding back slightly rather than hurtling pell-mell down the hills as usual.

Blatherskite · 19/10/2013 18:09

OhOne we bend the 'no barcode no result' rule for mis-scans so I'm sure they'll be able to add you in.

IsThatTrue · 19/10/2013 18:41

ohone I hope they can sort out your mis-scan for you.

pepe well done! 29.01 isn't a bad time at all. You get different results for different courses (so my pb is 27.14 at the flat course and 27.33 at the hilly one locally). As it can make such a difference to your time. But doing the hills will really help your times.

wem that's one of the things I love about parkrun, there is always next week! At least you got out there and did it, it's hard to be out in a park on a cold wet Saturday morning. You're amazing for just turning up !

melanie well done on getting so close to your pb when you were reigning it in a little. Just imagine what you can do at full pelt!
