Thanks officeladySmile

Good to hear the aches might lessen. I can't keep up either but he keeps saying to go at your own pace so I do on certain exercises.

Hate globe jumps already! And I'm pretty weak when it comes to push ups so I just do my best.

I just did cardio power & resistance and it was much more enjoyable than PCC.

I like it so far, I can feel aches all over so it must be doing something!

The diet is going ok, I'm not following it rigidly but am aiming for the 5 meals a day, small amounts of healthy carbs (whole grain rice, bagels etc, porridge etc) and lots of lean protein (tuna, chicken etc) and am adding salad, veg & fruit.

Slightly boring but I don't feel hungry so it's got to be a good thing.

I'm planning on a glass of wine & some kind of treat on the off day though. (And going out Friday night so will drink & eat whatever then!)

I'm doing it for toning & fitness rather than weight loss though I could stand to lose a few post baby pounds.

OK, I've lurked and posted once on this thread already. Was talking to a friend who has done insanity earlier this year and she has been saying how amazing it is. Have been watching those funny videos people post of themselves doing the insanity workouts is it me or is that a bit strange and think it's going to be hard but I might manage it. I'm hovering over the buy button on amazon but it's so much money.....shall I buy?

Reastie · 23/06/2013 18:26

Oh, and to add - do you need anything else in addition to the insanity box set (resistance bands etc)? I have weights up to 5kg but that's it. Oh, and said friend said the man behind insanity is releasing a new dvd soon which is similar but workouts only 30 minutes long...maybe I can hold out for that....

Mitchy1nge · 23/06/2013 20:35

no it's just your own body and that's one of the things I most like about it

do it do it

I was just showing my abs to friends who haven't seen me for a while, as you do (they were asking about insanity after seeing the calendar and fit tests on the wall, I don't usually get my podge out for them to admire) anyway one is a physio and she was naming various other visible defined muscles/muscle groups that she liked the look of especially my delts (shoulders? Arms?) and only 3 weeks in (have skipped a couple too)

CatOfTheDay · 24/06/2013 00:21

Hi, just popping in to cheer everybody on - it's a great workout! I did it for a few weeks last year and really enjoyed it once I got through the initial pain!

I stopped as I just didn't have enough time, but still run and go to the gym.

I did it downstairs and DP said that when he was upstairs it sounded like I was having very loud energetic sex with Shaun T what with all the panting! Grin

Might have to dig out the DVDs after reading this thread to see if I can still manage it (although my legs just refused to do some of the things they were meant to, in the Cardio Abs one I seem to remember...)

Dig Deeper!!

TheBakeryQueen · 24/06/2013 09:05

Yes go on reastie! You won't regret it. In comparison to a gym membership it's cheap, that's what I told myself anyway.

I'm only 4 days in so no noticeable differences yet but have to say its very motivating.

I would love abs.

TheBakeryQueen · 24/06/2013 09:07

Mitchy1nge, were you quite toned before you started?

I'm slim, but soft all over & just flabby really. My ds3 is 9mths old & I've only just stopped breastfeeding & I was literally starving & shovelling crap down my gob for 9mths! Hence needing this insanity workout.

Mitchy1nge · 24/06/2013 12:26

I think the abs have probably been there for a while but am not toned (I never really know what this means, it's body fat low enough to show muscles isn't it?) have got too much body fat generally

smoked a lot over the weekend and this is v incompatible with pure cardio and cardio abs :(

Reastie · 24/06/2013 16:23

It's in my basket but not ordered yet. How fit/slim are you all? I wouldn't class myself as fit at all but I do a couple of weights workouts and a cardio workout a week minimum (or aim to...). I'm also a size 16 and very wobbly (I've lost over 5 1/2 stone in the past year or so so much wobblyness to tone up). Don't know if I'll be able to keep up. Do they give you options for your fitness level or is it all or nothing?

Mitchy1nge · 24/06/2013 16:55

It's kind of all or nothing but you can get through it feebly - you will see when you watch the workouts, people working at varying intensities taking breaks etc although no specific modifications are offered - the more you do it the easier it gets I think? Although I was rubbish today

I'm not very fit, unless you compare me with someone who never does any exercise - my habits have changed since insanity but before I would go to the gym pretty much every day and do quite a lot of cardio, also spin class once twice maybe three times a week, and run with a friend now and then, have got horses so do them every day, and then I try to do yoga every day or at least one or two classes a week oh and was skiing (dry slope) so it does all look a bit active but am not very proficient at any of these things

Mitchy1nge · 24/06/2013 16:56

amazingly well done with your weight loss so far :)

Reastie · 24/06/2013 17:10

Mitch you realise you sound like you are actually incredibly fit the amount of things you do/did!

officelady · 24/06/2013 17:14

I barely exercised at all until about 10 months ago, I was not overweight but had no muscle definition and hated my bum & thighs which were heading south & spreading since I turned 40. To start with I found exercising really hard work and could never keep up with the DVDs (I started with Jillian Michaels 30 day shred). But you will feel your fitness levels improve really quickly if you stick at it. And I absolutely love the post-workout feeling of knackered euphoria!
Here's a question for y'all (as Shaun would say): if you can't keep up with him, do you try to match his speed but take more breaks; or keep going but at a slower pace? I think I am leaning towards slower pace but don't seem to be getting any quicker so I might try going for speed instead. Although there is No Way I am ever going to be able to do jumping jacks at Shaun's speed at the end of the warm-up - his arms are a blur!!

Mitchy1nge · 24/06/2013 17:14

is the fit test available online? You could do that and check your results, I don't know what they are supposed to be but maybe somewhere someone knows?

It's a lot of money isn't it if you are not going to do it every day

Mitchy1nge · 24/06/2013 17:25

oh I missed two posts

and missed the bits where am sitting around for hours eating tacos and smoking - can't believe have started smoking again :( - so I dunno, am fit compared to someone who doesn't do any exercise but am not a Super Fit Person at the gym or anywhere else, but yeah I was used to exercising every day so that must help

not sure about speed, if it is push ups or anything where am scared of hurting myself I just aim for form but the leaping around ones I go for speed - when they are combined I go for form

Mitchy1nge · 24/06/2013 17:36

if not, after warming up, you could try the fit test without the DVD? It's one minute per exercise, you go as fast as you can to do as many in that minute as possible:

switch kicks, power jacks, power knees, power jumps, globe jumps (motherFUCKERS), suicide jumps (burpees), push up jacks and low plank obliques

can prob find examples of them on YouTube

unless you really can't manage even a few of each I don't see why you can't start where ever you are now and build up? I've seen those YouTube vids of really fat people doing insanity too, some are incredibly inspirational!

but warm up thoroughly before the fit test!

Reastie · 24/06/2013 18:35

OK, have looked up all those exercises. I can't do push up jacks at all but the others I could give a good go. Just got to check the bank balance. I want to do this Grin

TheBakeryQueen · 24/06/2013 19:57

Reastie I would go for it honestly! Our can just do it at your own pace, I'd say try and keep up but choose form over speed.

I find the DVDs really motivating.

Mitchy1inge, you sound fit! Do you think you'll try & quit smoking again?

TheBakeryQueen · 24/06/2013 20:10

Oh & did cardio recovery today & it was lovely in comparison to the cardio stuff.

Couldn't quite finish the lunge dips but nearly there.

EMUZ · 25/06/2013 04:53

notyummy are you still on this thread? And if so can I pester you with back questions?! Grin

officelady · 25/06/2013 06:35

Just finished my workout de jour - and looking at my calendar it was my last session of Cardio Power & Resistance - can't believe it! I haven't been brave enough to view any of the DVD's for week 5 onwards, I fear they will be longer/harder/impossible!
I tried really extra hard today and decided that my workout level has moved from 'shameful' to 'borderline awesome'. I barely had any unscheduled water breaks and my form was pretty good throughout. Something is working!! At the beginning I could only do about 4 push-ups before crumpling in a heap but I kept going for the full 30 seconds on every circuit today. I will have biceps like Popeye!

Reastie · 25/06/2013 07:08

wow officelady - how long have you been doing it for now?

Reastie · 25/06/2013 07:54

OK, I've only gone and ordered it hope I don't regret this so I guess I shall be joining you all if you'll have me

TheBakeryQueen · 25/06/2013 09:56

Officelady, that sounds impressive. Hope my push ups improve too, they're my weak point.

Go reastie! Grin

TheBakeryQueen · 25/06/2013 09:57

Pure cardio today. Dreading it Shock
