Reastie r u on holiday here or overseas? If u r in the uk u have got fab weather :)
I just took photos on my iPhone which was quite depressing but u r right to do it now. Better late than never.

Quick question for the veteran insanity ladies about ab workouts in the c sit position. When I do them After a while my lower back aches. I did watch a v short q&a video with Shaun t who explained how to get in the correct position so I think my form is correct as at the beginning I feel my abs working but after a while my lower back aches. Could it be because the muscles in my back r v weak? I know my core is v weak. It's getting stronger I'm sure since starting insanity as b4 my tummy always stuck out as I never held my abs in at all. Should I carry on & just take breaks as and when & hope my back gets stronger ?

yztj I'm on hol in UK, weather has been fab :) Hope you get some help with c sit thing - I did the abs workout for first time yesterday and could barely manage half of it Blush

those lower back muscles ARE your core aren't they, or big part of it? It goes round you, like a belt? I found that hurt at the front most but never really know if I'm doing it properly and it feels like ages since I did it now (can't be more than a week or two?)

mynameis I think the idea of the five tiny meals a day is to keep blood sugar up for exercising and to keep hunger/cravings away? Am not sure but it suits me when I'm organised (which am not this weekend)

I might have imagined the bit about the muscles wrapping round you?

Morning fellow insanians! Good to see that we have fresh blood new people on the thread - welcome all!
I did a similar thing to you slimshady and took recovery week a bit too literally - only managed 3 out of the 6 workouts then the following week I only did 1, yes 1 session of the max workouts Blush
BUT!!! I shall not beat myself up because I am BACK IN THE ZONE BABY! I have meal planned and shopped for a week's worth of healthy food using the Elite Nutrition book and I restarted the workouts yesterday. So far have only done Max Cardio Conditioning and Max Interval Circuit. Can I just say that it is far too hot for sideways suicide jumps! In fact it is far too hot for any sort of exercise - so I am getting up at 5am and straight into my sports bra and trainers and doing an early morning workout before the day begins.
I "only" have 2 and a half weeks left to make it to the finish line. I have decided that my reward will be to take the rest of August off and eat, drink and be merry! Looking forward to it already ...

Hi everyone, back from 3 days away. I took my Insanity DVDs with me and...didn't even open the case! Not going to do it tomorrow either because I have a spa day. Hoping I'll be up to it on Thursday after work.

But then...straight back on it. Nearing the end of Month 1 (it's taken nearly 6 weeks mind, what with days off / other exercise) and then it's Month 2. Yikes.

except me, am just running a few more miles each week instead

Go office you sound in the zone indeed.

stow just make sure you do get back on it. I'm getting towards the end of week 3 and feeling very Confused about month 2 - can it get any harder?!

mitchy how's the knee?

Did cardio and abs today. It's too hot for this though, I'm actually getting worse at the workouts rather than better and I'm trying to blame it on the heat Confused . Got recovery day tomorrow though thank goodness.

Spent all morning at the beach (we're still on holiday) what fab weather, will be Sad to go home on Friday.

hi reastie, what lovely holiday weather for you! My knee is happy thanks :) it doesn't like me running down hill (it should be easier, but no) but otherwise it much prefers running to insanity

I miss the all-day mood boost I was getting each morning though :(

Bad news about the knee Mitchy, I would love to enjoy running but I'm just naturally shit at it! Also I have a weird thing about exercising in public, I won't go to a gym but I can leap around in my living room with my curtains drawn Hmm
I love my post-exercise glow of smugness. It's a great mood lifter!

office Grin to your closet exercise habits

mitchy glad knee is OK.

I was due to do a workout today but the heat got to me (and exhaustion - been up since 4am). It's soooooo hot. Hoping to get back on it tomorrow as that's 2 days off, I'm thinking maybe a more realistic attitude to take is 4 - 5 workouts a week not 6.

Can i join? On day 4 and today was cardio recovery which was lovely compared to plyometric circuit thing and drills ... Am starving and eating all the time - worried am cancelling out the workouts by how much food im getting through!! Have loved tae bo and jillian in the past but this is a whole new level of pain ....

Hello and welcome, CrossWords! Always good to see a new face on the thread Grin
I'm also suffering from feeling starving all the time - I tried really hard this week and used the Elite Nutrition book but then I got a text for 50% off at Dominos so I demolished 3/4 of a large pizza for my tea last night Blush
Anyway, long story short, I have put on a pound this week. Am still only 7st 9 so nothing to freak out about (I'm only 5ft tall so about a size 8 on a good day). I'd like to level out at 7st 7lbs, just need to get a grip on my appetite!!
I did my fit test again today and really went for it, got some good improvements in my scores!
Only 2 weeks left for me to complete the 60 days - I'm sure I can burn off 2lbs if I stay away from the pizza Confused

Only two weeks! You have to do it for those of us dropping out along the way, all our hopes are pinned upon YOU officelady. No pressure though. How is everyone else doing?

my weight has been fluctuating insanely, a kg or more either way day by day, mainly because it is very difficult to eat 3oz of lean protein on a bed of wilted spinal with a teaspoon of flax seed oil when you're out at restaurants or parties or whatever. I'm still sort of trying to follow the Asylum plan, the elite nutrition one was more difficult to understand and interpret and adapt I think.

I miss insanity and I'm not even running as much as I thought, only nine miles all week last week, please let my energy come back soon :(

mitchy hope you get your groove back soon. Is it hot where you are? I'm really struggling with the heat. I did the warm up for the power workout yesterday (yes, just the warm up Blush ) and had to give up as I was too hot. I did a little jog and some toning bits outside (cooler out there than inside) afterwards but feel a bit cheaty. Hopefully will manage a workout tomorrow but this heat is making it really hard for me.

Hi cross how have you been doing past couple of days?

Office that's alot of pressure on your shoulders there from mitchy Grin

It's odd re: weight loss. Have consistently lost about a pound a week for over a year but since starting insanity have lost 1 lb in about 4 weeks. Keep telling myself it must be muscle! Hmm

Report
officelady · 23/07/2013 20:12

I have given up with the Elite Nutrition - too much wilted spinal for my liking! Back on Hairy Dieters instead and lots of chocolate.
It has been so hot that I have been getting up at 4.30 to do my workouts. I know that is bonkers but my dh is working away at the moment so I can please myself and go to bed at 9 if I feel like it! It's still too hot - I have to towel myself down during the 30 sec breaks. And I'm basically exercising in bra and pants. What an attractive image that is! I finally feel like I've got the hang of push-ups. It's only taken me 2 months!
I really feel like I'm almost there - only 10 workouts left Grin

Did pyrotechnics workout today Grin . Think it's my favourite of all of them so far (when I say favourite, it's more a case of best of a tough bunch!) but I still lie on the floor in a sweat puddle alot when shaun is telling me to dig deeper Confused . Am now on to week 4 from next workout but it's taken me alot longer to get to week 4 than 4 weeks as I've been struggling with childcare/heat to get them done. Then it's recovery Grin

Office 4:30??????? That's dedication! How do the max workouts compare to the first month? Are they the same but longer or are they tougher throughout?

Report
officelady · 24/07/2013 14:17

Reastie the max workouts are longer AND harder - apart from Max Recovery which seems to be a similar level. The workouts are all about an hour long. Actually they don't seem massively longer once you get going, but a lot of the moves are even more intense. For example, you might do a section of High Knees, but you have to also keep your arms straight up in the air the whole time. And there are sideways suicide jumps which are a killer! And many more truly torturous moves but I won't spoil the surprise for you Wink
Anyway you'll have a lovely "rest" week of Core Cardio in between so you can recover a bit!

Reastie · 29/07/2013 07:43

Longer and harder Confused .

Well, I've been doing some home workouts in the garden past few days (bit like insanity light - doing similar moves but also incorporating jogging/running) and am quite enjoying it and definitely am faster thanks to the insanity I've done so far. It's easier to do this in the morning with DD as she enjoys joining in and running with me whereas I can't do insanity with her. Think I'll stick with that this week as I can't get any childcare all week then back on insanity next week. How is everyone doing?

Do it, do it, do it - if only for the first month - then head off to a gym to begin phase two - it is an awesome cardio development/fat burner/muscle building program.

I did it in the summer. Had a Caribbean holiday to motivate me and means my DP did it together everything night.

You need motivation and dedication, it is hard. But after the first two weeks of getting into it if you miss a day you will feel awful! It is addictive. I looked the best I ever have since DS after doing it. Was worth it. However, keep it up as I let it all go down the pan after holiday. Now doing jillian Michaels.
