Hi yztj I think I'm on day 5 or 6 too so we're right at the same point Grin . I do mine when I can but in the day not the evening - I can't manage in the evening as I'm too shattered and my body has nothing left to give. I have a 2yo dd though so can't easily do it with her around so have to beg my DM/Dsis to look after her so I can do it (they only live down the road) so it's whenever they are able to have her. I prefer getting it done an hour after breakfast as it's done then and I don't have it hanging over me to do later.

Btw I really struggle with it too and have alot more breaks than thy do on the DVD.

Reastie · 04/07/2013 16:23

Look at me sounding like I do it all the time Blush . I should have added before I started this I did another dvd workout programme called x train fit which was alot easier but I think helped my fitness get to the point of at least attempting insanity.

yztj · 04/07/2013 16:39

I have been doing them around 7ish. 6am is very impressively early, stowsettler! I then have time to have a shower and sort out the kids before I take my son to school. I had had the Dvds for a few wks but only started them because my son saw the infomercial and called me to watch it. We did the fitness test together (my son who is 6 scored better than me!!!). My daughter who is 2 1/2 enjoyed joining in the 1st day but now she says mummy what u doing and then wants to watch ben & holly!
Today is the 1st day I haven't felt like a zombie all day but thats because I was on the Dukan diet (had lost stone on it b4 xmas but since then lost nothing as think my body adapted to it). Low carb and insanity do not mix at all. I have now changed by diet to include some nice quality carbs and eating little and often and feel much better today. Still aching alot though ;)
And yes Reastie I cannot keep up with them either and have a lot of breaks too. Worry if i overdo it I won't be able to get out the house and do the school run!!!

stowsettler · 04/07/2013 18:14

7ish is pretty impressive mind. The only reason I do it at 6am is because it's the only time during the day I know I will have completely to myself. I almost enjoy that part of it now. I should hasten to add that I'm almost always in bed before 8.30pm. The only time I'm not is when I'm having a drink Blush

Reastie · 06/07/2013 13:12

Did the power one today. Really hate the jumps! What are your favourite/worst moves? I actually quite like the sprinting and punching bits but hate most of the jumps as they are so hard.

stow glad to know I'm not the only early to bed person here - I'm also usually in bed by 8:30. My family just laugh at me about it Blush

yztj how are you getting along?

yztj · 06/07/2013 14:21

Today was the rest day - woo hoo! So treated myself to a glass or 2 of wine last night :)
Been so hot today and been nice to have a day when I'm not aching somewhere.
I agree that the sprinting & punches are good and I really go for it at those bits. Do not like press ups or their insane version of them where u travel at the same time :(

yztj · 06/07/2013 14:27

Been reading up about how many calories I need to eat & worked out should be around the 2000 mark. Downloaded an ap called my fitness pal where u log calories eaten & u can even scan barcodes to accurately show what you've eaten.
Do any of u count calories?

Reastie · 06/07/2013 15:40

Yztj I'm on my fitness pal - friend me if you like - I'm reastie1 . It's a fab site. I use it from my laptop as I don't have a smart phone (my phone is an old fashioned brick of a phone!) and it's really useful to see what things add up to and sometimes I think I'm being quite good but it's amazing how much it adds up! Since joining mfp I've lost over 5 1/2 stone but not just down to it IYKWIM, but it's really helped. It gives me around 1500 kcals a day not that I always manage it

We are having a kitchen fitted from Monday (well, building work too, it'll take about a month) so have set up our new makeshift kitchen diner in the playroom Confused . Microwave ready meal anyone?!

Mitchy1nge · 07/07/2013 12:55

happy Sunday everyone - day off :) I had yesterday off too, my knees are absolutely thrilled that they get to go brown peacefully in the sun instead of being tortured

have been thinking about month two and my running (and riding and rip60 and weights) and agree with my running guru friend that I need to prioritise something Confused and view the other things as supporting that

Reastie · 07/07/2013 12:59

Think that makes alot of sense mitchy . What will you prioritise do you think?

I had pure cardio this morning, it's a killer isn't it! I moaned the whole way through and took alot of breaks but feel fab now. I'm I think 9 days in and although I haven't lost a single pound yet I'm sure I've started to tone a little bit from it.

Btw, when I have to do 'pure cardio and abs' does that mean I do the whole pure cardio workout and then the whole abs workout or just the abs one on its own? If I do both do I need to do both warm ups/cool downs and just do one at the very beginning and one at the very end?

officelady · 08/07/2013 06:39

Reastie I think you are supposed to do both Pure Cardio and the Abs workout one after the other, I sometimes did both warm-ups & cool-downs but if I was short on time I just skipped the cooldown at the end of pure cardio and fast forwarded past the warm up on the abs. Abs is short though, only about 15 mins or so.
I am on week 6 - yikes, how did that happen? I was supposed to do Fit Test and Max Interval Circuit this morning but couldn't get up early enough so just did the Fit Test. Here are my results - the first number is my Week 1 Day 1 result and the figs in bold are from this morning..
Switch Kicks: 46/60
Power Jacks: 51/56
Power Knees: 70/94
Power Jumps: 35/44
Globe Jumps: 9/11
Suicide Jumps: 14/20
Push-Up Jacks: 20/34
Low Plank Oblique: 20/36
I have really noticed that my upper body strength has improved. Not so much the legs, I hate hate HATE switch kicks and Globe jumps. And I felt really really sick after I finished, had to get dh to bring me an emergency cup of tea!!
Not sure what to do tomorrow - stick to the calendar and do Max Interval Plyo, or do the workout I missed from this morning. Decisions, decisions ...

Reastie · 08/07/2013 07:19

office wow that improvement you've done it amazing, well done. How are the second month workouts? I'm dreading them as month one are hard enough!

I've got pyrotechnics ( Wink ) again this morning but alas no one can help me with DD so not sure how much of it I'll get done.

Mitchy1nge · 08/07/2013 09:34

Oh that's incredible officelady! It must be so satisfying to see it written down like that. I think I'd follow the calendar, in month one I once or twice attempted to double up but is a bit intense doing two in a day. Won't try that again!

I haven't completed another fit test since the first, a whole load of people came round when I was halfway through the last one Shock

anyway am going to focus on the running, want to do a 10k in autumn, still do insanity but try not to jump around too much - it is incredibly tough on your knees isn't it! So I will modify it somehow, have been doing that as and when anything doesn't feel right anyway. All I need to do now is get my discs back, only have the core recovery one, only did that four times instead of six.

stowsettler · 08/07/2013 19:37

Congrats officelady, those stats are great!
I have now had 3 days off the Insanity, hoping to get back on it tomorrow.
I did go to the gym today, and it was bliss, working out in the aircon! Actually I may stick to the gym until it cools down a bit.
I was quite impressed with how I did at the gym, though. When I started back exercising after having DD the instructor gave me a load of rock-hard sessions to work through, I did one of the hardest this morning and found it much, much easier than a month ago. In fact I'm quite inspired to go and do another session.

Mitchy1nge · 09/07/2013 10:33

oh god max interval plyo you are too hard on my knees, and my left wrist

am good at handstands and handstand push-ups but I can't turn that wrist very easily especially with my body weigh resting on it

that was just the warm up though, I think/hope will have time this pm to try again Confused hope officelady has survived it

Reastie · 09/07/2013 11:20

handstand push ups?! What are they?! they sound impossible Confused

Mitchy1nge · 09/07/2013 15:21

I am addicted to them, was always doing handstands at the gym when one of the instructors said 'try doing a push up' and I'm pretty good at them - might explain the 'delts' actually!

but if I'm outside on concrete I use a wall so I can put my feet against it just in case I collapse and lose all my teeth

here

Mitchy1nge · 09/07/2013 15:43

"Handstand pushups require significant strength, and also balance and control if performed free-standing." Oh yeah that's me Grin I wish I was a bit more balanced and controlled!

Reastie · 09/07/2013 16:19

wowsers mitchy you are truly super fit. I'd struggle to even do a handstand tbh Blush

Mitchy1nge · 09/07/2013 16:31

I'm not I'm really not, I've got that sort of balance and strength (probably from completing the BAGA gymnastic awards as a child! and general horse stuff?) but for overall fitness there is a long way to go.

I can't do max plyo at the moment :( my left wrist hurts, my left knee hurts. I feel a bit unhappy but let's see what max cardio brings tomorrow! I can run without pain so it's definitely insanity.

officelady · 09/07/2013 18:49

I didn't do Max Plyo today, I did Max Interval Circuit which is what I missed yesterday. The DVD was still in the player and it was 5am so I couldn't be arsed with finding a different DVD even though the box was right next to the telly
It's so LONG and ENERGETIC and HOT. Thought my face might actually melt off by the end. I've never seen so much sweat come off a human before. I liked lots of the punching stuff. Not so much the sideways suicide jumps, I had to go slow otherwise I would have done myself a mischief!!
Tomorrow I'm back on the calendar and will do Max Cardio.
I am really impressed with your handstand prowess Mitchy! I haven't got the balance, I need to find a wall to lean against, I'm going to give a handstand push-up a go. I fear I will be able to go down but not back up - my arms are puny twigs!!

Mitchy1nge · 09/07/2013 20:44

argh max interval circuit sounds utterly horrific - I was up at 5 too thinking it would be cooler, not that I got far enough to feel any heat, just pain. Have you got a fan?

terrified that I have lost my mojo for insanity altogether, my idea of exercise today has been foam rolling myself all over the floor instead but will tape up my knee and try max cardio tomorrow morning

Reastie · 10/07/2013 12:24

mitchy how did max cardio go? Did you manage it OK?

office the max workouts sound impossible to me Confused

Well, yet again no one to look after DD . I've managed most days so far but knew I wouldn't manage insanity today with her around so went out for a jog in the garden with her instead. Did some sprinting and jogging and lunges with DD running around me thinking it was all a game. Tbh I feel like I've cheated as I probably only did the equivalent of the warm up and cool down on insanity but it's better than nothing I guess...

Mitchy1nge · 10/07/2013 13:11

argh how annoying but even if you only do insanity 3x a week that's still 12 tough workouts a month!

I got about halfway and thought FUCK THIS SHIT when I saw there was still almost half an hour to go Blush better than yesterday and I think the knee stuff is mostly in my mind but ugh. Am not sure.

stowsettler · 10/07/2013 17:03

Oooh Mitchy that doesn't sound good, if your knee is bad maybe you should cut yourself some slack and give it a rest for a bit - especially in this heat, when it takes so much willpower to get going in the first place.

I got back on it yesterday, and today was Pure Cardio + Cardio Abs. Gotta say, it didn't feel too bad (even though I had to stop loads). I'm into the final week of Month 1 now so I'm somewhat dreading Month 2.
