Will post the race list later on computer.
Come one, come all. We are a band of maverick posters who run, talk about running, and talk about other stuff, mostly life, large pants, and questionable children's artwork. Come and join us if you dare! Disclaimer: we are actually the friendliest thread on MN. Fact.

I am dubh roisin on fb (also not my real name, obv Wink)

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 04/01/2012 13:59

I love nuts, but we have to be a nut free house. DH keeps his muesli at work! Most of all I miss peanut butter - I used to eat it every day.

This first phase of the diet is meant to be 4 days of protein only, but I'm having veg too - can't cope with no veg. No fruit though. Just going home now for an omelette Grin.

fannybanjo · 04/01/2012 14:08

bonkers I am Helen Jay Owens so request me my love. (the Jay is my DH and it's a "joint" account - ie he noses on it and I post! Hmm). Was the only way I could convince him it was a good idea as I had a nasty case of a stalker on there a couple of years ago and it shook him up.

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/01/2012 14:10

does mean that whenever you get a notification re fanny, it comes up as Helen has updated his status... she runs so fast because she is a man, people!

rhetorician · 04/01/2012 14:10

sticky you haven't actually revealed which Garmin you have...

fannybanjo · 04/01/2012 14:12

Haha I know sticky but I think DH wants me to keep it that way... Grin

rhetorician · 04/01/2012 14:13

shred that's tough going - I was laughing the other day because there are 4 people in this house and they all have different flipping milk - dd1 has lactose free, dd2 has breastmilk, dp has soy (because of dd2 and bad response to a lot of dairy) and I am normal.... however, no-one has the kind of reaction you've dealt with, just not great with dairy

dd1 wants an ice-cream cake for her birthday...any ideas? baked alaska? and will I be able to do that with goat's milk ice-cream (nicer than you'd think)?

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/01/2012 14:13

It's the 305 forerunner with the HRM Grin

It's so HUGE but I love it! Was funny yesterday when an old chap asked me the time, there's me with the world's biggest watch on but I didn't know Blush. I could only give him a vague notion on the basis on how many miles I had to go and what time I started.... eejit.

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/01/2012 14:14

so long as there aren't any picture of you getting your lad out fanny...

fannybanjo · 04/01/2012 14:22

Grin sticky no chance of flashing my wizards beard on FB.

rhet does it HAVE to consist of ice cream? Otherwise you could have made one in the shape of an ice cream...

N4NNY · 04/01/2012 14:27

I have 3 FB from here my initials are MG my pic is of me Pre race with number on If anyone wants to add me just let me know who you are so I can try to remember.

sfxmum · 04/01/2012 14:33

need to adjust list N4NNY for some reason in my notes you were MAM initials Confused

orangeLFDThead · 04/01/2012 14:34

Thanks for thread peach. Only half caught up so sorry if missed anything.
Sticky I'm pale too but my eyebrows are my only must, can't be arsed with manicures or anything but got to have my eyebrows done.
Regarding running pants [whispers] I just wear my normal thongs as I find all knickers find they way up my arse anyway so might as well wear something that is supposed to be there.
Chief I don't know anyone in rl who is that kind of superwoman, I have decided the ones in magazines are making it up (makes me feel better to believe that Smile).
N4NNY Shock Really?
Right must quickly run round with hoover before I have to pick up boys.

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 04/01/2012 14:49

Check it out! I am posting this using my new phone. I'm off to download some apps now. Any running related recommendations?

peachLFDTsmuggler · 04/01/2012 14:49

rhet, I've made this before

www.nigella.com/recipes/view/ice-cream-cake-77

it was awesome! You could buy/make goats milk ice cream to use in it???

My eyebrows are dreadful. At 36 I have never had them seen to. Which is least painful, threading, waxing, or plucking???

peachLFDTsmuggler · 04/01/2012 14:50

Christ! Am 37. And senile evidently...

OP posts:
rhetorician · 04/01/2012 14:57

peach that is fucking genius! she will adore it...and I can nick fanny's brilliant idea and make it in the shape of an ice cream. It's a sad old thing that she is obsessed with a foodstuff that does nowt for her innerds...

senile? nah, just sleep deprived - how is K? A is good, but getting trickier to settle than she was...grinning away now though. Weigh-in on Friday!

peach, are you still going for your run tomorrow? I hope so, even if you walk/run for 2 miles, it'll be great. We almost need a race report!

have entered race! do you think I should take buggy with me (am rather excited about the baby jogger )?

bonkersLFDT20 · 04/01/2012 15:12

peach Threading is the least painful, then waxing, then plucking IMO.

Also I've found threading didn't last as long as waxing. Go for it! I first started getting mine done about 5 years ago and it really does make me look brighter (as in sunny, NOT intelligent...I've got glasses for that purpose).

Sigh....maintenance takes much longer as you get older (I'm 41).

cestlavie · 04/01/2012 15:30

Littlechief I use Runmeter on iPhone - 'tis not perfect but pretty good for the money and stores all the data on your runs. Think you can get a Mapmyrun app as well for it but haven't got round to looking for that yet!

rhet you should definitely take the baby buggy. Give little rhet her first taste of what it's like to be in a race! If she starts wailing, you may even get a PB!

Hope you get out for your run peaches!

Managed a slow 6 miles last night but a much quicker 6 miles this morning at about 7.30 m/m - absolutely gorgeous cold morning out there and was wearing my devastatingly attractive new Ronhill Vizion tights which clearly made me go reasonably fast even at the expense of looking a complete dick

List of races is getting long... need to get signed up for a couple and add those. Still trying to persuade a friend to sign up for London to Brighton run but might be getting him there.

(PS not going to have a lot to contribute to the pants and eyebrow debate I'm afraid Confused Confused !)

rhetorician · 04/01/2012 15:33

cest i am disappointed in your lack of response to the pants and eyebrow debate; i mean, really, what do you think this is, a running thread, or something?

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 04/01/2012 16:04

Oh I do love a good thread, makes me feel slightly less werewolf like ..... think the boys were worried every time we had a full moon! Although having had it done for a few years now it doesn't need doing that often. I'm like orange it's one of the few things I do, don't even bother with a haircut anymore. I just use one of those home brazilian blowdry kits every couple of months to make my hair less poodle-like and do the ole mumsnet hometrim!

fannybanjo · 04/01/2012 17:02

I'm like a fucking Albino Gorilla at the moment. Pubes, eyebrows, legs, pits all need attention. Then there's the small problem that is my feet. They are truly shocking.

Grin at cest having to read all this. I actually reckon this thread has a LOT of lurkers you know...

Anyone on to the running.... 4.6 EASY miles done. Tank miles.

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/01/2012 17:10

fanny a new profile pic for you <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=farm3.staticflickr.com/2276/2164060205_cc5715687b.jpg&imgrefurl=www.flickr.com/photos/9690777%40N05/2164060205/&h=351&w=291&sz=47&tbnid=RY1nroso7n5GdM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=75&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dalbino%2Bgorilla%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=albino+gorilla&docid=-UrvWdodcPq99M&sa=X&ei=BocET67kMerg4QThz92NCA&ved=0CEAQ9QEwBQ&dur=5756" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">smiling nicely

What's a tank mile?

I have two confessions to make:

  1. If I'm going a bit Denis Healey, I get a blunt razor and wave it near my eyebrows. It gets rid of the long wiggly worm type ones that grow out at an angle. As beauty tips go, it's a bit shite I think.
  1. I used to wnder about Master&Margarita's name, so I googled it. It's a famous book I find out Blush. I thought I was pretty well read (so, not, then). I got it from Amazon and will start reading tonight.
fannybanjo · 04/01/2012 17:23

Tank miles to me are runs that are easy to just add miles to my tank!

Grin at the photo - I wish I was that attractive!
