Will post the race list later on computer.
Come one, come all. We are a band of maverick posters who run, talk about running, and talk about other stuff, mostly life, large pants, and questionable children's artwork. Come and join us if you dare! Disclaimer: we are actually the friendliest thread on MN. Fact.

sticky check out my FB.,,,

RunningAllDay · 04/01/2012 17:28

Thongs. Doing the school run in a high-viz jacket (and pre-shower) is bad enough, don't want to add VPL to my sins. DH goes commando in the tightest pair of lycra shorts - I make him go before it gets light in case he scares any old dears Grin

Plucking. Otherwise the monobrow from hell.

Oh, and running. Yes, what are tank miles fanny? I did 6 easy today. I love the way I can say '6 easy' whereas 3 years ago it would have cost me sleepless nights building up to run 6 miles. One day I hope to say '20 easy' in the same throw-away manner....

RunningAllDay · 04/01/2012 17:29

x-post - oh, thought it was a terribly technical term

8oreighty · 04/01/2012 17:30

Can I join? I don't post that often on mm but this could be really good as have decided want to start running but no idea where to start and have fear of being seen running like a ninny

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 17:30

The problem with threading is it always seems to be done in public. I like a wax myself but then I seem to not feel waxing too much in most areas. I is hard.

rhet I have a couple of ice cream cake ideas in my 'Australian women's weekly kids party cake book' . One is a heart I think and one is a barbie with a skirt thing.

More great ideas on the present front thanks. Journal looks right up her street. My 2 dds are like your 1 and 3 fanny in terms of what they do/like. Dd2 had completed about 8 jigsaws before bedtime
Last night and they were displayed across our living room floor.

a Lego guru I saw today showed me the new girl Lego just out. Dd1 will love it. Sorry drno Grin

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/01/2012 17:32

Grin I did Fanny!

running me too re the 20 miles!

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/01/2012 17:36

wheely I was just looking up about pony books for DD1 and found your thread! It's weird finding the runners elsewhere, I think - like seeing the teacher in their ordinary clothes in town at the weekend! Some good suggestions there. DD1 lurves those Tilly/Pippa Funnell books. What did you get in the end - were they a success?[nosy]

DD2 is the lego fiend in this house. She takes a few pieces to bed with her so as not to feel lonely Confused

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 04/01/2012 17:42

Grin at sticky - never read it myself, but know of it and all the hoohah it caused .....

Was just discussing the Scousebrow on fb, you know maybe we should all just go au naturel and let ours meet in the middle. I go to a little salon place, and pay £80 for 10 threads which lasts me ages. Poor woman in front of me came out today having had her upper lip done - I knew because she had her hand over her mouth Grin.

running isn't your DH a bit concerned about - um- support issues? Having seen DH do the Shred in his boxers the first time, I now make sure the boys are safely tucked in the barracks so to speak and briefs are mandatory.

Welcome 8oreighty - we do occasionally discuss running here when unwanted hair and big pants are not occupying our minds!

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 17:45

I got my goddaughter follyfoot sticky and got dd1 the first one of the Tilly/pippa funnell books. Dd1 hasn't read hers yet. She's a strange one - has a reading ability way beyond her years but doesn't love reading which I find quite frustrating as a very avid reader. She asked for loads of books for Christmas too, which I bought her but she's not read.

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 04/01/2012 17:45

Oh and I rarely darken the door of any other topics, usually only the safe stuff like the doghouse populated by other nutters like me. Or maybe chat. Last time I proferred any "useful" advice on another board I was accused of single-handedly attempting to dismantle the NHS (because I dared to say that ds3's eczema issues had been dealt with badly by our GP - who is otherwise great and I took pains to say so - and that we had paid to see a private consultant).

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/01/2012 17:46

sorry 8oreighty your post got a bit lost in all the bollocks there!

My best advice is to get out there and do some running. No one who is not running has any right to laugh at you, and you'll find the ones that are running don't anyway.

Are you starting absolutely from scratch?

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 17:49

Yes sorry - hello 8oreighty ! If you are starting from scratch do a good run/walk programme. Apologies if that's preaching to someone who already knows Grin

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/01/2012 17:49

It'd be great if you were an NHS hater shred. Then we could set you and sfx on each other. Fight fight fight!

wheely I will go and google follyfoot. My prob is that I was totally not into pony books as a child, so I don't really have much idea.

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 17:53

How old is your dd sticky ? I loved pony books as a child....

RunnersFestiveTipple · 04/01/2012 17:57

Hi 8oreighty, don't ever worry about being seen running like a ninny, after all at least you've got up and done something.

Re eyebrows: threading, then sugaring then waxing are my order of preference although sugaring hurt less than the others. But I agree about being seen in public during and after threading. It leaves me with big red brows for at least an hour or so. I haven't yet had to take a razor to them Grin although I found a [whisper it] grey one the other day which had to be plucked obviously.

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/01/2012 18:20

wheely she is 7. Not sure what her reading age is - those Tilly books are just right: proper books, but not too long. Do you have recommendations? . I got her two books today from the library, but she'd already read them (one horse book looks much like another Blush). Those Sheltie ones someone recommended on your thread looked quite sweet.

On running like a ninny, I was running like Phoebe from Friends every so often on Monday, because I kept getting pins and needles in my hands Confused. I did make sure no one was about when I did it though.

DebiTheScot · 04/01/2012 18:31

wheely is your Oz woman's weekly cake book about 30 years old? I've got one mil gave me which has some hilarious cakes in it including one that's like those old tacky toilet roll holders with the half doll sticking out the top Hmm

I'm I the only person who just runs in the same normal pants worn all day & has never done anything with eyebrows? (I should do really as 1 is higher than the other!) How attractive do I sound?!

Going out for 4 miles ish later. Am so tired but it'll re-energise me I hope.

rhetorician · 04/01/2012 18:36

debi if in morning i run in yesterday's pants, then they go in the wash. Never tackled eyebrows - but i am fairish and much more worried about incipient beard and not that hairy, dd1 is v dark and will have monobrow; dd2 has fur on forehead, ears, shoulders, thighs. I blame her dad...

RunningAllDay · 04/01/2012 18:36

shred I don't think there is a more supportive item in existence than these particular shorts They make my leggings look as baggy as a tracksuit, so am not too worried about his bits!

wheely mine is 7.5 - concur with the rollerskates, or posh scooter (if not already having one - mine are a bit behind I think!). Malory Towers box set was a huge hit if yours is a reasonable reader. Also, a friend recommended a 'Make your own Morph kit', which comes with DVD and instructions on how to animate, if your daughter likes using her camera and has film-maker aspirations. Think I may get this for DD2 who is 6 next week and who I am also struggling with - I refuse to by her anymore Rainbow Fairy books as I loathe them.

welcome 8oreighty

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 04/01/2012 18:37

OMG debi not ....... "the crinoline lady"! I was forced to have that abomination as my birthday cake until I was 17 for years because it was easy for my mum to make!

"Fond" memories of brushing green icing out of the hair of my Sindy .....

Have put some silly fb photos up. DH not impressed. He doesn't much like being in photos especially when he is making a tit of himself.

stickyLFDTfingers · 04/01/2012 18:38

no debi I wear comfy M+s knickers all day, and also running.

Good for you going out this evening! If nothing else you should sleep better and feel better tomorrow.

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 18:42

Hmm sticky I think most of the ones
I read are probably a step on from those Tilly ones but if we stumble across any I'll let you know . Dd came home with a pullein-Thompson (horse writing sisters extroadinaire) as her school reading book and it was one I hadn't heard of but it was ancient and I haven't been able to find it.

debi - I bought my book for dd1's 1st birthday so it's about 6 years old in it's current form but might have originally been older. You can tell you don't have girls - those loo roll holder cakes are all the rage. I bought a special tin for it when dd1 was 4 and it has been loaned out left right and centre Grin

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 18:46

Thanks running - actually that
Morph thing sounds ace. I think I've seen that before and was going to buy it for a friend who's birthday it is today. Instead I bought her a 'knit wild animals book' and have received the text 'thanks for the books - it's great, I've never knitted a warthog before' so I think it was a hit ConfusedGrin. I have the mallory towers box set - I bought it for myself to re read a couple of years ago Blush

Wheelybug · 04/01/2012 18:47

Oh and my Olympic ticket saga continues - the tickets I managed to get int he second round were synchronised swimming FFS....
