Will post the race list later on computer.
Come one, come all. We are a band of maverick posters who run, talk about running, and talk about other stuff, mostly life, large pants, and questionable children's artwork. Come and join us if you dare! Disclaimer: we are actually the friendliest thread on MN. Fact.

peach you are right, of course - she is actually just a great baby, so much easier than her sister. She slept all afternoon too, and is generally more wakeful now. Soon I think we will start to marshall her into some kind of routine - have a feeling we started bedtime routine with c at about 12 weeks - a pure desperation measure as we couldn't get her to sleep any which way. It worked - at about 10 months!! ha ha ha ha

off to bed too - may as well maximise the minimal sleeping opportunities (actually it hasn't been bad at all, I am just pissed off today)

N4NNY · 13/01/2012 23:11

Thanks for all your advice on the job. I've emailed the mum outlining my worries so will wait to hear back. I'm parkrunning tomorrow I really really want to come in under 35 mins but I struggle greatly with the hill as do most people but some more than others :) I ususally run/walk up and then can run all the way down. I give up and walk far to easily though I think I need someone to run with me and shout at me lol.

peachsmuggler · 14/01/2012 09:00

Rhet, yeah I was thinking about 3 months as well. With DP going bsckbto work on Monday I will have to be getting up every day with DD1 for playgroup (howl, howl) so I suspect DD2 may gently fall into sone sort of rhythm as she will be getting up at same time each day, be in pram at 9 and 12 every day etc. We shall see. Been having a bit more luck getting her to sleep in her carrycot at night by waiting till she is properly asleep before transferring her, but she still spends majority of night in bed with me.

Wheelybug · 14/01/2012 09:01

Good luck with park run n4nny and I hope the job situation resolves itself.

orange - thinking of you and your DB.

cest - I think I might have to do featherdown when it's warmer. I have v fond memories of camping as a child (and as an archaeology student but that's a different experience) so would like to do some once dd2 can be trusted not to escape. DH is taking some persuading and it is a bit of a wuss in the cold (I'd like to give him the excuse of his health issues but he's always been a bit of a wuss in the cold!) so warmer conditions might be better. However, it might be the sort of camping to start with for him in warmer weather !

peachsmuggler · 14/01/2012 09:21

Ha ha, wheely, DP is not really a happy camper either. He takes a lot of persuading. We have just booked a festival (End of the Road festival in late August in Dorset), so will hopefully be nice but will be clodiah overnight. DD2 and me massively excited!

fannybanjo · 14/01/2012 10:01

orange so sorry about your brother and if course - discretion on FB.

Who's not on FB on this thread? Chief and cest? Come on over guys...

rhetorician · 14/01/2012 10:19

ha ha wheely I know what archaeologists get up to when camping - ime usually involving large amounts of spliff and alcohol. But perhaps you were a purer archaeologist than the ones I know!

DP also hates camping - it's odd as she loves mucking about on the farm, but I am the outdoorsy one. I'm looking forward to the dds being big enough to go off camping for the weekend - I really want a camper van soooo badly

sfxmum · 14/01/2012 10:37

camping we love camping, particularly festivals, so civilized these days it can't be called roughing it. France has good camping too

orangeLFDThead · 14/01/2012 10:38

rhet growth spurts can be really tough. Vent away, however lovely newborns are it is very hard work and hard on family dynamics. Hope she settles again soon and hope you all get some good sleep.
Oh peach how annoying, things always go at the sama time. Earlier bed time for you or k? When I wanted to change one of the boys bedtime the hv recommeded doing it 10 mins at a time. So first night next put them to bed 10 mins earlier second night another 10 mins earlier etc till at time you want.
Good luck with the parkrun n4nny
Can I brag about my presents. The boys got me subscription to womens running. Dh got me ipod nano for running and phatom of the opera at Albert Hall on bluray and latest series of 24 on bluray Smile.
So once my nano charged going to go out for a run, although it looks a bit icy here.
I am not a camping person at all, my phobia of spiders is too bad to be able to sleep or relax in a tent I would be constantly imagining all sorts crawling over me.
Hope everyone else ok

peachsmuggler · 14/01/2012 10:57

orange, that's a good idea. I should maybe get into bed with k while DP getting DD1 down and then creep away (or transfer to cot) and have dinner. Alternatively go to bed earlier, though we often don't finish tea till after 9. Will give it a go, ta!

peachsmuggler · 14/01/2012 10:58

Result on the presents orange!

RunnersTipple · 14/01/2012 11:09

Great [resents orange, enjoy your run.

I'm not on FB, I have a strange, and not entirely self-understood, aversion to it. I think its because it would be another thing for me to do when procrastinating about getting stuff done.

RunnersTipple · 14/01/2012 11:26

presents, obviously

stickyLFDTfingers · 14/01/2012 12:46

orange good present haul there! :)

N4NNY isn't your park run the one that was featured in the newsletter the other day - when even the park run guru was complaining about the very large hill!!? If so I think no shame in thinking it's tough. You want to imagine us lot yelling at you!

peach hope your white goods get sorted. Not having a washing machine is miserable in any circs, let along with a little baby in the house too.

Had a nice but really cold park run this morning. It looked Christmassy again, there was such a thick frost. Don't know my time yet as I failed to operate the garmin so waiting for the email to come through. DD1 was going to come with me - got as far as crawling into bed with me, then decided it was very warm there, and very cold outside, so she was going to stay put. She's no fool (unlike her mother!)

JustOneMinute · 14/01/2012 14:36

Ooh great presents orange it is my bday next week but DH can be confused with tis running lark so doubt anything will be running related, I can but dream.
nanny hope the park run went well
sticky well done on the park run, it was freezing out there this morning I find it hard get get my ass out the door in this weather but once I do it is just perfect running conditions and beautiful

Did a LSR this morning after only doing one short run this week. TOTM and it always makes me feel bleurggh.
LSR was lovely though, nice and flat along the river frosty but not icey underfoot, sun was out gorgeous and some rowing crews in the water. I always find I think a lot on a LSR and realised when I got to about 3 miles how lovely and easy it felt, yet this time last year I could only run for 5 mins.... Amazing how well you can progress. In the end clocked 13m the longest ever, legs tired but I did run around the block again at the end to get to 13.0m! madness!

N4NNY · 14/01/2012 15:12

sticky my parkrun is the one that mr parkrun was talking about its 2.5k up but then it's 2.5k back down my time today was 36.07 a minute faster than last week but a minute slower than PB.

peachsmuggler · 14/01/2012 15:16

Fantastic run justoneminute!

sticky, your DD1 sounds very sensible indeed!

New washing machine coming on Wednesday. Phew! Running out of babygrows. Might have to do a handwash as too embarrassed to let the neighbours wash the pooey ones!

Didn't run in the end today as ended up having lunchtime nap with K while DP spent the time cleaning up DD1 who shat herself three times! Only just finished lunch, am not dressed yet, and supposed to be in pub right now. Hmmmm.

Let us know your parkrun time when it comes through sticky!

peachsmuggler · 14/01/2012 15:17

N4NNY, oof on 2.5k uphill, that's cruel, but well done on last week's improvement!

orangeLFDThead · 14/01/2012 16:07

3 mile run went really well although a few icy patches on pavement so had to be careful. The nike + on the nano is very accurate I know that route is def 3 miles and it said 3 miles, so pleased about that.

stickyLFDTfingers · 14/01/2012 18:31

Hi - I got a new PB! 27:11. Very pleased, because i definitely wasn't running all out to get a PB, was actually being a bit careful on the icy bits (-6 this morning). So hoping to go better again next week...

Well done on the 13 miler justone - you really have come a long way in a year, that's fantastic.

N4NNY you have a hard park run! Be proud :)

orange until this Christmas I had relied on the Nike+. I think it is very accurate, but does go a bit hay wire on the long runs. E.g. it recorded dead on for the HM last year. But now I'm going longer distances, it's started going quite a long way out. When I did the 18 miles last week, it thought I'd done over 19. So I'd say it's pretty solid up to the HM distance, ime anyway.

peachsmuggler · 14/01/2012 18:52

Yayyy, well done sticky!

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 14/01/2012 20:32

Well Done Sticky

rhetorician · 14/01/2012 20:56

excellent time sticky - only a few seconds to get sub 27...are parkruns chipped? do you have the same chip every time

N4NNY · 14/01/2012 21:25

Parkrun isn't chipped you have a bar code when you finish your given a place token with barcode on. Someone is at finish line with a special timer clicking as each person crosses you then get your place token take both that and barcode to the person with the scanner then it all gets matched up and your time is text if your signed up for text and/or emailed results also on web site

DebiTheScot · 14/01/2012 22:08

n4nny your parkrun sounds really, really hard!
Well done on your pb sticky, I also got a pb today with the same relaxed, not all out to get a pb attitude! I even had to walk a few steps near the start as it was so crowded. They had a record attendance even though it was -6 here too.
