I've another photo at the finish - its of my back and these two older guys are looking at me as if to say "oh dear, is she going to survive...?" I'll add it on. Grin

backwardpossom · 09/11/2011 11:11

fanny that photo is brilliant hahaha LFDT right enough!

fannyletsfookingdothisbanjo · 09/11/2011 11:14

I've added the other one. Look at the two older guys looking at me with pure pity.

monkeyLFDTwench · 09/11/2011 11:31

fanny great pics. You have the arms of Madonna 1995, I have the arms of Maradonna 2005 Grin.

futurity · 09/11/2011 11:37

Great photos fanny ..you look amazing!

DrNortherner · 09/11/2011 11:42

fanny I rackon they may be looking at you with something else other than pity. You look just like Nell McAndrew! I agree. Great biceps. Lol at bonkers asking what is in your bag ?fanny ?pack--. Do tell!

monkey I have no idea as to your history, but as rhet says this sounds like it could bring back difficult memories for you, although of course the pain of losing a child will always be with you. Big hugs to you my dear.

peach so glad all is well and your mind has been put at rest. Get some kip today!

fannyletsfookingdothisbanjo · 09/11/2011 11:56

Hahahahahaha wench LOVE IT!! That's made me laugh!

DrNo Hahahahahaha AS IF! I wish! See previous post below re contents of fanny pack...

Thank you for compliments ladies, you're all too kind. BlushBlush. I actually was going to say how awful I felt I looked but that's makes me sound like an ungrateful twat when I should be glad I'm fit and can complete a half marathon.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 09/11/2011 12:20

Thank you monkey, for your wise words. You are completely right. If it happened again I would go straight back in.

Loved the Maradona comment Grin

Fanny, am surprised you don't have one giant bulging bicep from weilding that iron of yours!!!

fannyletsfookingdothisbanjo · 09/11/2011 12:22

Everyone please say a little prayer for my cousin. He had a heart transplant 9 years ago and he is awaiting results of a
Biopsy as he may have skin cancer. Sad This is a condition which can be caused by the tablets that keep him alive. He's only 35. I'm so worried. He's like a little brother to me.

monkeyLFDTwench · 09/11/2011 12:37

Oh fanny that's awful. Added to my prayer list. Similar happened to my cousin, he suffered liver failure as a result of his treatment for Crohn's Disease, had a liver transplant which has not been hugely successful, and has survived two lots of bowel cancer. He's such a fighter and has been through so much because he has a wife and young son. I hope your cousin gets the care he needs and the news is hopeful.

stickyLFDTfingers · 09/11/2011 12:39

fanny I'm holding hands with you. I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to my little brother. I hope the biopsy comes back with the right result.

rhetorician · 09/11/2011 12:44

fanny sending positive vibes your way - and for monkey's cousin too; it makes you realise how lucky we are to have bodies that let us run.

OP posts:
backwardpossom · 09/11/2011 12:47

Oh dear, sorry to hear about your cousin, fanny Praying is not really my thing, but will be thinking about him x

fannyletsfookingdothisbanjo · 09/11/2011 12:55

How ironic does my earlier post about being fit and well sound now? Sad

Thank you everyone. I love our little community on this thread, it really makes my very mundane days that bit brighter. Smile

peachLFDTsmuggler · 09/11/2011 13:05

Oh fanny, how awful, I do hope everything is ok. When will he find out? It is so easy to feel invincible and something like this really brings it home how easily we can lose our health. Positive vibes for everyone's loved ones who are ill.

DrNortherner · 09/11/2011 13:09

fanny everything crossed for your cousin. Some bad news areound here at the moment Sad

Well I got a 11.30am call at work from school "ds has tummy ache and very loose stools please come and collect" Waiting fro GP to call back as this is day 5. Loads to do at work to and paranoid about the looks of contempt from childless colleagues as I left.....

sfxmum · 09/11/2011 13:09

Fanny and Monkey positive feeling towards your relatives
it is so sad I hope they have the strenght to fight on

spent the morning dealing with business related stuff, there is a start up fair next week I plan to attend and need to do my homework to try and get the most of it
and have been doing essay plans for module

stomps in toddler fashion, so much nicer to be running instead

and I want to see fanny's pics too

monkeyLFDTwench · 09/11/2011 13:10

It does make you realise how much we take for granted - just being healthy is such a privilege. And while I have lots of petty disappointments in relation to my running (I would so love to be better, fitter, faster) I try not to lose sight of how lucky I am just to be able to get out there and FDT.

On a more mundane level, today is my doing stuff day - I pick ds1 and 2 up late as they go to cookery club so I've been ploughing through the washing, ironing, cooking, and cleaning. Also gave ds3 his home haircut as we can't get him near the barbers; honestly I'm surprised no one called social services - the screaming, exaggerated dramatic coughing ...... nightmare.

DH has gone in to London today in jeans due to the student protest - official advice for City staff so the bowler and brolly doesnt make them a target - hoping he'll be back a bit early Smile.

sfxmum · 09/11/2011 13:19

that is funny monkey city goes stealth under duress Grin

hope it is all jolly and safe

bonkers20 · 09/11/2011 13:24

Thinking of your cousin, Fanny

orangeLFDThead · 09/11/2011 13:39

Thats a shame Hat
Glad everything ok peach, ignore the midwife always best to get it checked out. Ds1 was a little monkey for this he was usually very active then an odd day where there was a handful of kicks. So we had a few visits.
oh fanny sorry about your cousin I pray that he will be ok. Great photo btw.
We still have a nightmare with ds2 getting dressed as his attention span and memory is worst than a gold fish. His default position is always sat in the middle of his room playing with his toys naked with 1 sock on. The fact that the other sock is in front of him on the floor does not serve as a reminder that maybe he should put the other one on.
Did my 7 miles this morning, although my headache came back around mile 2 but gone now. I did it in 1hr 16 mins but found that extra mile a killer. Not sure how I will manage 8 next week.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 09/11/2011 13:40

Poor old DS DrNo, sounds like he really has a dose. Must be stressful for you too with work. Don't worry what collegues think. Your son needs you, if they have a problem with that they'll just have to deal with it.

Startup Fair sounds exciting sfx, hope it is productive!

Wheelybug · 09/11/2011 13:40

Great pics fanny ! Thinking of your cousin (and you !) and yours monkey. IN the last years we've seemed to have been surrounded by v. serious illnesses in 30-somethings amongst our friends (well DH started it 3 years ago almost not making it and will be medicated, with similar drugs to transplant people, for ever). It certainly reminds you to get out there and think yourself lucky when you're near to puking on a hill run.

SFX - Fanny's pic is on her MN profile -click on her name.

On that note, sticky you found me on FB !

Skipped my intervals in the gym this morning - stinking headache, and was lured to costa instead. I did go to my swimming lesson though. Am on a long dog walk tomorrow but might wear running stuff in case I can squeeze ina 5K afterwards.

Am going to have to get tough with myself next week and resist the costa lure. 2 friends' children also go to dd2's pre-school and wednesday costa has become a bit of a habit but I won't get 4 runs in if I do that.

rhet - Don't get me started on toddlers and getting dressed. Both mine as 2 year olds were/are insistent on only dresses. DD1 was fine really aslong as you stuck to dresses. DD2, however, you can give her a choice of her favourite dresses and she'll still try and pick another one. And if you put one on her she doesn't like, she'll go off and take it off and put another one on.

orangeLFDThead · 09/11/2011 13:43

Rhet how is dd about the cat? Hope she ok

peachLFDTsmuggler · 09/11/2011 13:47

Great work (and great time!) on your 7 miler orange, must be a great confidence boost. You totally will be able to do 8, having done 7. Glad the headache went too, mind and take in plenty of fluids today, 7 miles is a long way to run!
