Yay rhet !!! Well done - take the rest of the year off Wink

Fanny - I have a long north face coat too for winter and I love it but not entirely waterproof. Have just bought a superdry windsheater thing which is amazingly warm but not tested in the rain and isn't glamorous. Does waterproof and warm = glamorous ? Let us know if you find it.

sfxmum · 16/11/2011 17:05

fanny glamour might be a problem I have a hooded belted waterproof Aigle one, very comfy warm too and kinds heavy, but glamour? more like goes well with wellies
my other is a Puffa long hooded Berghaus thing that feels like I am taking my duvet out when very cold, not exactly water proof more water resistant

on the subject of running I need to re think my training for next year and either get more gym or running club into the mix

monkeyLFDTwench · 16/11/2011 17:05

Well done indeed Rhet you're A.Maze.Ing. I'm going to get a proper training log up and running next year, you've inspired me to FDT Wink.

fanny I have a not very glamorous brown parka with a huge furry hood from Lands End. The boys' school is in the middle of nowhere and very exposed so it gets very cold and windy. Lands End is a bit off-putting when you look at the catalogue, lots of middle aged people in elasticated waists, but my coat is fabulous and I often get asked where I got it by middle aged women in elasticated waists.

sfxmum · 16/11/2011 17:06

yeah rhet Grin

stickyLFDTfingers · 16/11/2011 17:07

woohoo rhet!

ange sorry I hadn't ignored your post earlier - was just thinking about it (takes me a while :)). I think re marathon, I'd be a bit scared of one on tarmac. This is why I have Kielder on my mind. I do pretty much all my training on trail, find it much easier on the knees (and much more scenic). The 10ks are worth thinking about. Also looking at the Gibside trail - did a fun run a couple of years ago there with DD1. Are you thinking marathon-wise then?

Making some dark chocolate and stem ginger cookies. They are smelling niiiice :)

peachLFDTsmuggler · 16/11/2011 17:33

Well done on your 8 miles Orange, you must be chuffed! And well done keeping up with the thread!

ibby, great time on your park run. Do you have a time in mind for the half?

Wheely, sorry the swimming lessons are a bit rubbish. Yes, maybe a few one to one lessons with practising on your own in between would be better.

Fanny, am the wring person to ask about anything fashionable! Am hopeless. I am going to get a long parka this year (in Jan, when a little bit er, smaller). But a quite baggy one so can have DD2 in sling and still get it buttoned up.

Rhet, you are a legend! What an achievement. Are you allowed a little drink tonight or are you off the booze in case of need to drive to hosp ; )

Was awake from 3-7 last night but feel ok after early afternoon nap. Baby has been quite low down all day. Really hope this flipping sweep on Friday works.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 16/11/2011 17:36

Oh Sticky, you temptress, with your cookie chat! DP and DD made chocolate krispy cakes while I was napping. Very cute but not in the same league as stem ginger cookies!!!

futurity · 16/11/2011 17:42

Well done rhet that is an amazing achievement. You must be very pleased with yourself.

Woops..i just spent alot of money at Wiggle..love that site Smile

MoshiMoshi · 16/11/2011 17:50

fanny - I have just bought a Barbour Cameron waxed coat for dog walking and generally rubbish weather. It's midweight so can be layered and worn in warmer (Californian) climates. Awaiting it's arrival...

rhetorician · 16/11/2011 18:04

I really thought this thread would produce at least one baby - but you've all been chatting so much that it seems likely to be the next thread (or possibly, in our case, the one after that!)

A sweep, eh, peach. Getting serious now Wink

sticky sitting here in my office really wanting one of those cookies...big time

just as a quick aside, DD had no accidents at nursery today - there from 9-4.30. Yay for her, what a little star.

stickyLFDTfingers · 16/11/2011 18:08

peach there's bread baking too, it smells very good in here atm. I'd never say no to a chocolate crispy cake though! Sweep on Friday, is it? Fingers crossed for you.

fanny just to second moshi's suggestion - I used a barbour through a Polish winter (with a million layers on underneath too!) and it was great for not letting in the draughts and being waterproof too. DP used my 30% off from the GNR to get himself one, good for the chilly Durham winters too.

stickyLFDTfingers · 16/11/2011 18:09

good for your DD rhet - she's on her way! If I could crumble a cookie through the ether to you I would, they're very good, if I say so myself (DD2 says so too!)

rhetorician · 16/11/2011 18:13

recipe? am starving and daydreaming about the salted caramel choc cake I made for DP's birthday in September. Drool.

Had another running dream last night - I was runner of the year in the club I was in. Clearly this 2000km goal meant more to me than I had realised!

Only a lecture and a bike ride away from a nice beer by the fire...(I am not banned from alcohol yet, peach)

stickyLFDTfingers · 16/11/2011 18:15

I'll PM you mine if you'll PM me yours rhet!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 16/11/2011 18:30

Bread too Sticky? You are a rennaissance woman indeed!

Rhet, I might have to do the salted caramal cake too. If you can be jibbed can you pm me too or post it?

monkeyLFDTwench · 16/11/2011 18:33

EEK to a sweep! I had one with ds3 (not that the doctor actually asked, just went ahead and did it Hmm). I have to confess that I was glad I didn't know, or I'd have been imagining Sooty between my legs with that bloody magic wand Wink. It worked big time - admittedly I was already 2cms (without even realising it), but as soon as I stood up and waddledwalked off to the loo my waters broke dramatically. Ds3 arrived less than 2 hours later (by cs, but that's another story)!

Salted caramel chocolate cake - cookies - all sounds amazing. I meanwhile have been a lazy moo and cooked pumpkin pasties for tea.

futurity I could spend hours on wiggle - it's another sad, sad addiction of mine.

monkeyLFDTwench · 16/11/2011 18:36

Oh my eyes! My hips! I just googled that cake recipe (the bbc one at least) - sweet Jesus that must be 2000 calories a slice!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 16/11/2011 18:40

Jeez, cheeky doc monkey! A lady usually likes to be asked! Midwife who did mine after 24 hours of labour didn't ask either. Just strapped on a glove and went in like a commando James Herriot. Right in the middle of a contraction. Agony Spagony! I was scraping myself off the ceiling. Am hoping she tells me my rrrrrrripening cervix is ready, as otherwise I think they are unlikely to work.

Homemade pasties were they monkey?? ; )

peachLFDTsmuggler · 16/11/2011 18:42

Ha ha, I just googled the same one monkey, need a mortgage for the butter and chocolate!!!!

futurity · 16/11/2011 18:42

damn you all..just also googled the caramel cake...drooool! Maybe I should change my Wiggle order to larger sizes to accommodate eating of that cake!?

peachLFDTsmuggler · 16/11/2011 18:43

He'll be so embarrased at the amount of lard monkey, he'll probably come home with some more jumbo tena!!!

sfxmum · 16/11/2011 18:45

I have been longing to make that salted caramel thing, will do it and take it up to MIL at Christmas, she they will help us eat it

peach good luck with sweep

dd will be going to after school club tomorrow she practically wooped with joyHmm I am off to Start Up fair thingy

RunningAllDay · 16/11/2011 18:49

I've just made salted caramel cupcakes for DD1's Brownie cake sale tomorrow. Not sure they'll make it to tomorrow.... I polished off all the spare icing whilst girls were at ballet. AND I made a Keralan curry for DH (I dislike curries but can cope if they they are homemade - snob? moi?) AND a caramel apple pie... feel like I could pop.

Hope you DO pop peach - you must be getting seriously tired of being large.

How about a long coat fanny for the glamour? Sheepskin? Or leather? I personally live in wellies-(poncey ones - its that kind of village)-and-gore-tex- ville and so can forget glamour, although do like ultra-long cardies (that sounds very middle-aged, but they are kind of funky, if not very waterproof).

sticky I love the HRM - I feel like I understand my body better using it. Yes sfx - nothing so satisfying as data data data!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 16/11/2011 18:54

Stop it stop it Running, am drooling like a wrong'un!

Good luck at the fair sfx, get me a candy floss won't you ; )

stickyLFDTfingers · 16/11/2011 19:02

just been looking at the caramel cake on the bbc site too. Does seem you must have posh salt. I've never bought posh salt before! Peach - more a woman who has a bread machine!

Pasties also sound yummy monkey. I was actually just looking in my Be-ro book thinking I've not made pasties for ages.

Hope the fair is useful sfx Are you hoping to get something specific from it or is it just general helpfulness?

running that's interesting re the HRM. I've pretty much decided that if I don't get a garmin for Christmas (i.e. DP and parents can't take a thundering great hint!) I'm going to spend some of my redundancy money to get one. THat's even with the current economic forecasts and another 500 jobs going in NOrthumberland. Pure folly, really, but it'll make me happy. SO there.
