You Scotch Wink folk speak a different language I tell ya Grin

sticky I too am very Hmm about Jim'll. Apparently it was his wish, and I have read his coffin is in the bar at The Queens. I'll be very Shock if it is in the bar, I mean imagine going for a sneaky cosmo after work and being confronted with Jim'll gold coffin staring at ya. Should be in a private room surely. But seriously, who would go and see it?!

I have been googling Jim'll to try and get his marathon times, but just got a whole load of other stuff that's out there about him..........

stickyLFDTfingers · 08/11/2011 17:46

Definitely not what/who you want in a bar! I'm imagining myself trying to chat him up after a few too many cosmopolitans...

It's true, nowt so queer as folks...

Hatwoman · 08/11/2011 17:51

marking place - will try to pop by properly later

stickyLFDTfingers · 08/11/2011 17:51

so apparently he ran the 1981 London one in 4.08.28 - How's about that, then? Well, actually bloody good Sir Jim'll, I'd take that time...

peachLFDTsmuggler · 08/11/2011 17:53

So he'd have been 50 odd then? Very impressive, jingle jangle!!!

stickyLFDTfingers · 08/11/2011 18:01

That time's just off t'internet and an unverifiable source (because otherwise you'd sue me Hmm - you can take a girl out of a law firm...). And I can't think of him as anything other than Jim'll... that lodged in my head circa 1979 and it's not coming out now!

Better feed the bairns, they'll never get off the xbox starve otherwise...

sfxmum · 08/11/2011 18:06

I asked dh about Driech, he said it basically means Scottish weather
Grin
who on earth likes shopping centres? have a headache now, quite sure I missed out in that particular girly gene

monkeyLFDTwench · 08/11/2011 18:20

So it's said "dreeeckhch" (best I can do with the ch sound) not "dryckhch"? It's a good word, very - is it onomatopaeic? Not even sure I spelt that right - whatever. Ds1 had to write an adverb alphabet for his homework last night and did it better than I could have, other than xenophobically which I gave him [proud].

DrN I also tried to google Sir James Jingle Jangle Jewellry and running but got lots of dodgy stuff about him groping Colleen Nolan Hmm.

Can't abide shopping centres, myself. I literally come over all sweaty and panicked. I don't like crowds or indeed other people at all, being somewhat socially retarded so a shopping centre is torture for me. All those people wandering round getting in my way and making me swear under my breath at them aimlessly. Rather be outside in the fresh air!

Just tucking into a pre-dinner snack of one of those Quaker Oats pots. I bloody love them especially the golden syrup flavour which tastes of flapjacks like it's good for you. I'm an addict!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 08/11/2011 18:22

Oh no, I edging hate shopping too sfx, especially in mall form. I think Westfield would give me the sweats!

Your DH is kinda right, if we're talking about Glasgow (still love it though). Now apparently Dundee is the sunniest place in Britain!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 08/11/2011 18:27

Effing!

orangeLFDThead · 08/11/2011 18:43

I have jut caught up in 3 stints so now dont know who said what.
Yes did do my abs after my second cuppa but have felt crap all day still headache and have a bit of a temp and tummy cramps Sad. Was supposed to be doing my first 7 miles tomorrow but might leave it till the weekend if still not feeling good.
Having you feeling better soon Fanny
I once had a slow puncture in one of my tyres, I took it to the garage and stupidly told them the wrong one so they did the wrong one. So had to go back a few days later to get the right one done Blush.

monkeyLFDTwench · 08/11/2011 18:45

I think I might be getting the lurgy too. I fell asleep on the sofa for an hour today, which I never ever do. Just feel very tired and lethargic. Hopefully I won't be visiting Shittington Crescent (love that name) though as on Thursday DH are having a special evening out.

Wheelybug · 08/11/2011 18:58

Ooh monkey where ya going ? Whatcha doing ?

My sir Jim'll points of dis interest for you. Dh once went to an 80's fancy dress part as him. We have such a fab photo. It was pre digital though so hard to get on fb.

And more tenuous I think I went to a big
wedding in the queens hotel. Is it right in the centre ?

Wheelybug · 08/11/2011 19:20

Oh and sticky , haven't seen you 'become friends'with rhet on fb so if you want to add me I have initials VH on rhet's friends.

orangeLFDThead · 08/11/2011 19:24

wheely dh just came over to see if I was ok, looked at your first line 'oh and sticky' and said 'thats digusting' - he thought I was on a ttc and you were announcing you were ov Grin

Wheelybug · 08/11/2011 19:30

Lol Orange !

sfxmum · 08/11/2011 19:43

I have dd trying to read it all the time, she is quite a good reader and just asked me what LFDI meant...

orangeLFDThead · 08/11/2011 19:50

what did you say sfx?

sfxmum · 08/11/2011 19:52

it is a special running term that mummies use, because this is a thread about running
Blush

orangeLFDThead · 08/11/2011 19:52

Good thinkind Grin

orangeLFDThead · 08/11/2011 19:53

Good thinkind? Good thinking I mean

rhetorician · 08/11/2011 20:11

sorry to have been AWOL, having irresponsibly started a thread and then buggered off: went for 9k run this afternoon (leaving DP and DD at her mum's house visiting wayward - but apparently clean - sister), and then took poorly cat to vets. Turns out she had a mammary tumour that seemed like it had spread to her lungs, so the only thing to do seemed to be to have her put to sleep :( DP and I got her as a kitten not long after we moved in together.

Any tips on what to tell DD? She said 'goodbye I love you' as I put the cat box in the car :(

Bumply · 08/11/2011 20:13

I did like this bit in the Guardian article: "I even bought a preposterous sports top made of some kind of cybernetic superskin designed to slurp sweat off your back and email it to a parched section of the developing world".

Very relevant as I was eyeing them up in the shop tonight when buying gloves for DS2 (in preparation for the snow that he's been saying is imminent)

orangeLFDThead · 08/11/2011 20:18

Ah rhet thats awful

DebiTheScot · 08/11/2011 20:47

I have a slightly less tenuous Sir Jim'll link. He fixed it for one of my best friends!
(that sounds odd, I obviously mean she was on his show!)

Awe your poor cat Rhet, hope dd takes it ok.

I did Shred tonight, after moaning about not having time to run on a Tues I figured I could do that instead. Haven't done it for ages, it was hard work!
