Oh no bonkers hope you found it. Good luck for today. Smile

MoshiMoshi · 13/11/2011 09:23

Results out. I came 8th lady overall and 393rd overall. I was first in my wave which gives me free entry next year. I shan't be here so if anybody would like to consider it for next year, here is the link! Had I known the times would be so slow I would have given it some welly! I must say the men were very unimpressive at their scrambling skills, all flailing arms and legs getting over barriers and crawling commando under cargo nets. I think I missed my calling into the army... Grin Although I would not have managed the 10 foot wall without the leg up and pull up... Wink

MoshiMoshi · 13/11/2011 09:23

GOOD LUCK Bonkers!!!!!!

fannybanjo · 13/11/2011 09:34

Well done Moshi! I intend to do a similar commando challenge next year but intend to get back into my circuits first (going on Tuesday). However the most important question re your race yesterday.... Where there loads of fit men with knobs out at the start?! Grin

MoshiMoshi · 13/11/2011 09:46

Just the one knob, fanny. He was wearing cycling shorts too and had to really squash it out to pee. It was very silly really considering he could have taken his time and queued to do that in a portaloo.

I think it was mostly unfit men actually. But all willing to part with £40 to claim to be a Men's Health Survivor. It was actually quite gentle and I was expecting more of a beasting. I think things like Hellrunner or Tough Guy might be marginally more difficult?

fannybanjo · 13/11/2011 09:59

From what I can see, the big name races are what draw the unfit ones in, the GNR full of people wearing plimsolls who looked like they might die if they ran a bath. Whereas last weeks HM was very small but everyone looked fit as fuck, was but daunting!! Knob watch better at large races though...

fannybanjo · 13/11/2011 10:25

I've entered the Conwy HM... Blush Conwy Cockwatch is on...

stickyLFDTfingers · 13/11/2011 10:26

hope your number turned up bonkers and all goes well today.

Great race report N4NNY - sounds like there was LFDT up that hill!

Moshi that does sound like fun! I used to love doing assault courses in my youth. Very LFDT inducing!

Peach what are you up to? I'm sure yours is just lovely, but TBH, when giving birth, I'd want a fanny the size of the Grand Canal!

Fannypmsl, I double dare you to get that t-shirt made and worn at the HM. Are you still thinking that you'll do it (even if there's no meal worm on offer??)

stickyLFDTfingers · 13/11/2011 10:27

ooh, xposts fanny. I'm sending you a glitter pen so you can customise your sweaty bettys...

rhetorician · 13/11/2011 10:29

fanny that's certainly my experience - the smaller races tend to attract only fit people - cos they are on the circuit and many of them are out racing all the time. The big ones get the publicity and make people sitting on the couch go, 'hmm, I wonder if I could do that'...

From what I saw of Conwy's manhood on my visit there a couple of years back I'm not sure you'd really want to express even comic interest

moshi ugh to the cycleshort man...and well done. I think I would have enjoyed that, but it would have taken me at least 30 minutes longer!

June2009 · 13/11/2011 10:47

Any babies yet? :D

Someone (from this thread) mentionned an obstacle course in hampshire on facebook (or something along those lines) I can't find that comment anymore, and was wondering if anyone know who it is/where it is? I think I want to do something like that.

fanny Just had a look at your pics, you and your girls are beautiful! Good luck on your next HM, how many have you done this year??

Is anyone else not so keen on running during the winter when it's cold and raining? Planning on a 5k today even though I'm tired because the weather is lovely, if it was raining I'd stay in and probably go back to bed Blush
does that make me "not a proper runner" ?? Grin

June2009 · 13/11/2011 10:50

Aah, it was the "brutal 10k", but can't find a website on google (or rather, finding quite a few of them and not sure which one it is.)

rhetorician · 13/11/2011 10:57

nope, no baby here yet, although actually, now you mention it, peach has gone a bit quiet...

june2009 I actually like winter running - it makes me feel like a proper runner, in the absence of more obvious signs like, for example, pace faster than 10 m/m!

OP posts:
peachLFDTsmuggler · 13/11/2011 11:31

Blimey Rambo Moshi that's an awesome placing! Lol at all the rubbish boys.

No, no baby yet. Nothing happening. Lying in bed thinking "is that a contraction?" then thinking, no just general acheyness. Really must get out my pit. DD got up at 9.30 today. Typical when it is DP's day to get up. Lucky swine!!!

Cannot find hypnobirthing CD anywhere. How am I to imagine i am on my own perfect beach, without it??

June, oooh I love winter running. Not mad about running in rain but love the cold. The initial sting in the air makes you want to run straight back in the house and put your dressing gown on, but about 4 minutes in and I'm thinking, god it's hot!!!

fannybanjo · 13/11/2011 11:31

sticky Fanny's Conwy Cockwatch* has a certain ring to it.

June thank you Blush. You missed the shite ones from my HM last week, I'm not looking particularly handsome on them! Conwy will be my third HM since the GNR which was 18 September so 3 in 2 months! Hmm I must be a nutter.

rhet you can be our Irish contingency of Cockwatch (gonna trademark that). Cali Cockwatch can be Moshi.

fannybanjo · 13/11/2011 11:35

And June I'm a far better runner in winter. I'll do a lot of speed training over December/Jan if its not snowy. Asthma that I had as a child tends to reappear in me in Summer and I struggle more. I remember Moshi saying she was the opposite - she too has asthma but is better in the summer. Weather doesn't bother me, once you're out, it's never as bad.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 13/11/2011 11:43

Oh my god. Have only now just got round to watching Stockport 10 Goody Bag rap. Brilliant! Right, am definitely doing it next year. I may even move to Stockport and join the harriers on the basis of that YouTube clip alone.

fannybanjo · 13/11/2011 11:52

I'm so pleased I've brought a touch of northern class to this thread! It's ace innit peach! Hope you're ok sunshine. Can't wait for a running thread incorporating a birth.

backwardpossom · 13/11/2011 12:10

Hope you found your number, bonkers

I'm enjoying Cockwatch. Grin

I did 7 miles this morning but it was horrible. I couldn't get going at all - my legs felt like lead, my chest was heavy and I just didn't have any oomph! Rubbish. Still, got the miles under my belt I suppose... feeling rough now though. Bleurgh.

fannybanjo · 13/11/2011 12:37

Cockwatch is the female racer's equivalent of Autumnwatch. Where we decipher if a cock is a Tit or an Eagle. Or worse, a woodpecker which goes at it hammer and tongs. So far only Tits on my watch. I'm pondering whether the South has the Eagles.

DebiTheScot · 13/11/2011 13:25

June it was me! And yes it is the brutal 10k. There's 3 of them in Nov, Dec & Jan I think. I was thinking about the Dec one. I don't think it has obstacles but does have running through rivers and lots of mud. I found it hard to find proper info on it online too to try and gauge how severe it is. I was thinking a proper off road one could be good fun & it could be nice to do a run without worrying about the time.

Have just run 6 miles back from church. Found it hard going which wasn't helped by getting lost on a 'shortcut' that added about half a mile and a section where I had to walk along a verge along a busy road that was too narrow to run on. I struggled after that to get going again. It's a beautiful day though and while I was struggling I was reminding myself of people like injured soldiers who we'd been thinking about in the remembrance service who'd give anything to be able to run 6 miles.

N4NNY · 13/11/2011 14:19

My trainers are filthy after yesterday's run I've got off all the loose mud is it a good idea to pop them in the machine?

N4NNY · 13/11/2011 15:22

Rhet hope this works right here is the link I hope to my garmin log of yesterdays run.

connect.garmin.com/activity/128378246

MoshiMoshi · 13/11/2011 16:03

N4NNY - you can put in machine but not to be done often or for long as will loosen glue etc. I just rinse.
