Morning all, see look what happens - I don't post for a whole day and have a gazillion posts to catch up on ....

squix what about "easy light and smooth" from Born to Run?

Sympathies with the stoooooool sample DrN.

cherry I thought it might be the Striders. Would like to give it a go but am a complete coward Grin.

Did my circuits yesterday and felt a little better even though the trainer made it harder Smile. Very wet and foggy weather which was actually strangely pleasant. Got home to find that my Shred DVD had arrived, but because I was already tired DH and I decided to watch the beginner section while slobbed out eating a bacon sandwich Grin which I think is not the recommended Shred way!

Had a mad rush to pick the boys up from school, get them home and fly out the door to get to the O2 to watch RHCP. They were great - whatever they're on I want some, frankly, because they were jumping and flying round that stage for two hours like you wouldn't believe.

Shattered today, but did give the Shred dvd a go - minus the bacon sandwich - this morning!

rhetorician · 11/11/2011 11:11

just back from a 6 miler in the driving wind and freezing rain, but a pretty good run overall. Realise though that nothing on the route would really count as a hill - or rather, to get any effect from running up them I'd have to do them over and over again.

Trying to pull stuff together for my talk this afternoon and then have to go and pick up cat carrier from vet :( but it's near a nice bakery, so will get some utterly delicious not very good for us white crusty loaf

What happened to the man who used to post? Did his DP have a baby? Has he name changed and is now posing as a woman?! Maybe it was all a figment of my imagination.

I like having a man about the place.

bonkersLFDT20 · 11/11/2011 11:47

....and what's all this talk of Maltesers. Is there a race I've missed Grin

rhetorician · 11/11/2011 11:59

that was cestlavie - he was here a little while ago. He's moving house. And pan joined us for a bit...where's encyclogirl, talking of missing persons?

Thanks for the mantras - have a few to choose from - I will try some out this weekend.

Very windy here too rhet - i did 4 very exposed miles (exposed as in open to the elements rather than showing anyone my pants Blush ) this morning and it was a real battle.

Only just noticed that the add on the top right of the thread is for sportswear - never noticed that we had targeted special advertising before. Although I notice that there is 20% off the website advertising there. Might go and have a peak, supposed to be working but struggling for inspiration!

rhetorician · 11/11/2011 12:12

squix I think that's new - I noticed it too.

Wheelybug · 11/11/2011 12:18

Well I've managednot to update you on wee gate and its almost lunchtime !

Not an entirely successful morning but I don't think really dd2's fault. I thought if we're doing it, we'd better start right away so pants first thing, first accident in the pre-school (decorators in house too) chaos. Then I managed to invite another child home after school (we had one already) so we had to do the school run, then pop to Tesco express to augment tea supplies... second accident in front of the bakery counter whilst I'm deciding what treat to get.

So home, then a friend knocks on the door and comes in for a cuppa. Third wee whilst we're discussing the intracacies of cake making.

Anyway, since we've been on our own she has tried on the potty about 4 times but no success. I think something more than a wee is brewing which is n't helping matters....

Anyway, you didn't want to know any of that did you ? But DH in a medical and my Mum travelling so I had to bore someone.....

Can I give up yet ?

rhetorician · 11/11/2011 12:46

nope, wheely you can't give up yet. Sorry. That's not what you wanted to hear is it? off to pick up DD and her little bag of pants from nursery now

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 11/11/2011 13:29

Wheely good luck on the potty training, it's something we will have to do soon. How old is your dd? I cant work out when we are meant to start, ds is 20 months

Monkey very jealous of the rhcp gig, they are one of my favourite groups. And happy shredding!

Lastly bonkers I see you are also in for the Cambridge half, hurrah! That's four of us now

Day off today, I have sent myself to bed whilst ds is napping. There are a million and one things I should be doing but curling up in bed seems the most important right now

No running today, but considering a double shred session later when dp is home. The couple thar shreds together stays together Grin

squix · 11/11/2011 14:12

Ohh and I've sent facebook friends requests to two of you that i wasn't already friends with - if you get a request from 'vdc' with a barbie cake as a picture - that's me.

Wheelybug · 11/11/2011 14:52

Never IMO cherry ! Seriously though - I have friends who have done it as young as 22 months, and some as late as 3 yrs 4 months.... In some ways I think the younger end are more receptive to being told what to do but from what I've seen it takes a lot longer and in fact, most I know that have done it early are still regularly having accidents. DD1 decided to do it when she was 2 yrs 8/9 months (can't remember) and did it over night and had about 2 accidents. But before that she refused point blank to sit on a potty. DD2 is 2 years 8 months and has shown more interest/readiness and is sitting on the potty but not producing.

Now, she's just fallen asleep on the sofa.... and I need to go on school run. No action since about 1030................ Its not going to be good is it?

stickyLFDTfingers · 11/11/2011 17:01

potty training Confused - my two were completely different about it. I think I had the same approach each time. Just good once it's over and done with!

I ran up and down the street like a crazy person this afternoon! I covered 3 miles apparently. The hill (according to the mapometer website) is a km long, 64 metres of ascent. It certainly felt hilly enough for me (especially the fourth time!)

stickyLFDTfingers · 11/11/2011 17:03

debi how is your friend doing? You're right - 11.11.11 would the coolest DOB!! I'd be eating pineapple curry while driving on cobbles if I were her Grin

N4NNY · 11/11/2011 17:10

Having a mild panic I've lost my safety pins since my last race the ones I was using came with my first aid kit. Where the fu)k do you buy safety pins at 5pm on Friday night when you have to leave house at 8am to get to parkrun and race ground?????

Wheelybug · 11/11/2011 17:11

Late night chemist ? Late night big supermarket ?

stickyLFDTfingers · 11/11/2011 17:27

have you got one of those little versions of a big supermarket near you N4NNY? Or a kindly neighbour?

N4NNY · 11/11/2011 17:29

The friend I'm having a meal with tonight has some I can borrow if I can get any at Tesco on my way to her :-) phew panic over

stickyLFDTfingers · 11/11/2011 17:36

that's good! Next time you're in a stationery shop buy yourself a big box of them (if you're me, you do this once, then lose said box, then buy another box, then find old box, then have lots and lots of safety pins... and pinning on race numbers is the only use I have for them Hmm)

Wheelybug · 11/11/2011 17:53

Yes I aklways end up buying a new box for every race. But, I've kept all the stuff I put together for GSR into a plastic bag to keep as a race pack.... providing I remember where I put it.

Good luck tomorrow N4NNY and for Sunday Bonkers. Look forward to reading all about it.

On weegate - dd still hasn't wee'd since 1030 this morning.....

monkeyLFDTwench · 11/11/2011 19:15

How are you feeling about it N4NNY? Confident, calm and relaxed? Good luck, you'll be great.

11.11.11 would be fantastic. Is anyone else imagining Nigel from Spinal Tap saying "eleven .... eleven ..... eleven ....." when they read that? I love Spinal Tap so much. I was even considering making my username hellocleveland. Might save that for next time.

Well tonight's entertainment is sorted, we are watching the Lemmy film in homage to seeing Motorhead at Hammersmith Apollo tomorrow. The earplugs are packed and ready to go!

backwardpossom · 11/11/2011 19:22

Eek, wheely - since 10:30?! Hope she goes, soon and isn't saving it up for a bedtime nappy...

AngeChica · 11/11/2011 19:26

That's freaky! Just flicked over from FB and someone had linked me to a group "Make 11/11/11 Nigel Tufnel day!"

Work colleague baby born today - spectacular birth date indeed!

Are you sure your DD hasn't quietly weed in a corner wheelybug? Shock

RHCP and Motorhead !?! Superb!
