Hope you're feeling ok drNo...

Hat - v. exciting re the pony. ooh I'd love a pony... And definitely run alongside I reckon.

Good luck with the plan Jez -Have you added your race to our list yet ?

After my terrible 'costa instead ofa run' incident yesterday I almost made up for it today. I went for a dog walk with a friend, then we had a quick coffee and then I did a 5K run. She was walking back to her car when I overtook her and her dog ran alongside me a little then stopped and sloped off back to my friend....but then a while later I looked down and she was there again. So I had to run her back to my friend who had no idea where she'd got to. Stoopid dawg... (I am a big dog lover really before I get lynched).

So whilst we're on a poo theme... I am going to attempt potty training with dd2 tomorrow. She has been talking a good game for a bit and I thought we'd struck on the bribe that might work (peppa pig swings playset which she really really wants) but tonight she said 'I'm not going to wear pants and I don't want the peppa pig swings'..... so there may well be some hair tearing out tomorrow in the 'burbs of London....

rhetorician · 10/11/2011 21:05

wheely - it's just a case of getting the bribe right! chocolate has worked wonders here (mini-smartie or choccie button)...although DD now seems to think that the (only) toilet in the house is her exclusive property and we all have to supplicate for permission to use it! She's been doing brilliantly - we just have to crack peeing at nursery - which I am sure will work. Btw wheely, she wouldn't even go near potty/toilet for first 2 days and peed everywhere. We have new shoes as long term goal...

best get back to boring talk I have to give tomorrow

Hello everyone not really posted since I put my Iceland picture up for all to see its been a tough few weeks with leaving "my" boys I had the lovely task of going to the job Center yesterday to sign on yuck yuck yuck.

Still been managing to run I seem to be doing mostly hill work my Monday running group is in an area with lots of hills and the running course I do on a Wednesday focuses lots on hill my Saturday parkrun is 2.5k you guessed it up hill phew but then 2.5 back down :). I do seem to be improving though and managing the hills much easier.

Glad everyone else's runs seem to be going well and looking forward to the new babies

Conversation and reading (cough) Rhet? surely a powercut is time for luuuuurrrrvvvvveeeee

rhetorician · 10/11/2011 21:37

DP can barely turn over in bed, let alone engage in any other kind of acrobatic activity...you are now at the point where you don't have to worry about early arrival - I think you are technically term, now, aren't you?

I've been confusing DD by raiding her sweetie reward stash 'why are you eating a jelly baby, mummy, you didn't do a wee?' Hmm we also spent all afternoon chasing baby crocodiles around the house

OP posts:
Wheelybug · 10/11/2011 21:37

I tried every bribe under the sun with dd1. The one that eventually worked was that she was allowed to wear dresses to nursery (i'd been making her wear trousers as more practical etc). I tried this with dd2 - told her at the start of nursery she was wearing trousers till she wore pants. She wore leggings first day, second day I got her I'm leggimgs and she went back and changed herself into a skirt. Grrrrrrr.

We'll see what happens tomorrow. I have to stay in as we're having some furniture delivered and her pre school keep telling me she's ready so......

Expect me on here a lot tomorrow !

AngeChica · 10/11/2011 21:38

Your DP will be desperately hoping not to go overdue again - I was 15 days overdue with my DS Shock and demented by the end of it.

Choc buttons worked fine for us too. There was a regression on starting pre-school as he refused to ask for the loo there. All fine now though.

If there were a course on Maltesers I would be happy to join.

I'd like to run a course on Maltesers; my students would surely love me then?

OP posts:
Hatwoman · 10/11/2011 22:10

clicked for a late night check and the first thing i read was "I'd like to run a course on Maltesers" Confused This being a running thread I read "run" as, erm, run (ie not organise). I had visions first of a course strewn with maltesers, that you could crush under foot (why?); then of snacking on maltesers instead of glucose sweets/jelly babies (won't they get a bit sticky? I thought).

futurity · 10/11/2011 22:11

Sounds yummy ...a new event perhaps?! Smile

backwardpossom · 10/11/2011 22:19

Good Lord that was tough going tonight - a LFDT classic. 18 mins tempo run, then quick break, then 1km at fast pace, then 0.5km of recovery jog, followed by 0.5km of fast pace again, then 10 mins tempo run back. Fucked.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 10/11/2011 22:27

Jeez possum! Hard core. Put your feet up love, have a bag of Maltesers!

Oh yes, I have an M.A. in Maltesers of course....
Full term is 37 weeks so have been so for 2 weeks. Have no clue when it will all kick off, maybe I should engineer a powercut... Wink Sweepstake anyone?

rhetorician · 10/11/2011 22:30

peach I am a bit worried that I am going to yell LFDT at DP when she is in labour...she will not be amused...

OP posts:
DrNortherner · 10/11/2011 22:41

Grin Hat you made me wee yself laughing at 'running' a course on Maltesers. It would have to be barefoot running I say. I love the randomness of this thread.

N4nny good luck with the job hunting, anything you fancy in particular?

The race is on for peachy and Rhets babies arriving. My predictions are:
Peach first - boy
Rhets dp second and of course a dd
Smile

Well despite feeling I was gonna barf earlier I actually haven't. Are some scrambled eggs on toast for tea and just feel wiped out. Maybe ds being ill has taken it out of me. I told dh to tell his boss I think he is a twat Grin When I see him the bastard next I will actually ask him that if I why he thinks sick kid duty falls to me cause I won't be able to help myself.

Good night all and happy running.

DrNortherner · 10/11/2011 22:42

My last post makes no sense whatsoever. I am not myself.............!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 10/11/2011 22:46

, yes can imagine you might get a Hmm about that one!!!

How did you feel about things during the last labour? I think my DP felt kinda useless and also fairly horrified by the whole thing. Tbf we were both slightly out of our minds, me with pain and entinox, and both of us with sleep deprivation.

backwardpossom · 10/11/2011 22:48

lol rhet you totally should!

Peach - you can have my Maltesers if you like, I think you need them more than I do!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 10/11/2011 22:49

You have lost your stake already DrNo, mine is a boy without a winkle....

I think you are delirious, get thee to bed lassie. Hope you feel better in morning. You are soooo right about DH's boss. Utter twat.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 10/11/2011 22:51

Awww thanks possum. As long as hat hasn't had her sweaty feet all over them! Wink

squix · 10/11/2011 23:09

Ohhh not managed to catch up for a few days and was worried I'm missed things starting for peach and rhet'sDP - am starting to get excited for you - new babies Grin

Have been a bit rubbish at running since the GSR - only been out twice. Have had a rubbish cold and a heavy week at work, hoping the cold has just about gone and I'll get out this weekend. I might also have a first practice for the rowing thing I agreed to do.

I've joined the running group I tried earlier in the week - I'll give it a go, it's not expensive so I'll see how I get on.

I also need some help with a mantra - I've found LFDT really doesn't work for me - swearing doesn't come naturally (I blame my childhood) - I've tried, but a bit like spitting when running it's not really me (don't spit, don't swear - blimey - I sound a bit of a prude - not really, honest). So any ideas - given recent posts - 'mmmm malteasers' might be a good one! How about 'Just One Minute Quicker' - JOMQ ?

SonicMiddleAge · 11/11/2011 02:17

Wheely What worked with my dd2 was being allowed to wear dd1s pants.. mildly grim I know but I went with it...

Been a bit strapped for time this week, so did two shorter runs, Wed - 7.5km, but kept my pace just under 5min/km, so pretty pleased with that (that's fast for me anyway) and today did 6km over fairly hilly course, with additional hill training on cliff st. The hill's pretty nasty - quite short, but at least 1 in 4 gradient, and there's 5 traffic islands going up the street so you run up to the first one, back to the bottom, up to the second, back etc etc. On the final run up, I'm not sure I was going faster then walking, and my legs felt sooo heavy. Anyway, I'm going to try and get out for 13km on Sunday and if that goes well, I'm going to disregard all the sensible advice I've had from everyone on the thread and do the 15km run on the 27th...

stickyLFDTfingers · 11/11/2011 09:19

squix a friend of mine uses "fast and light, fast and light". I've tried it when I'm trying to run faster - together with imagining running over hot coals, as RW suggested! Seems a bit mad when I type it out.

Got a great day planning - coffee and cakes and baby admiring this morning, decent break for digestion, then some speed work. Might try some hill training a la Sonic (that sounds tough effective).

happy running!

DebiTheScot · 11/11/2011 09:27

One of my good friends is 11 days overdue today. Today would be a cool date of birth though. She was telling me the other day she's volunteered me to help with her husband's training for a 2 man kayak race from somewhere to somewhere else far away! I think I've kayaked about 6 times in my life. The race is something like 20 hours long so I hope I'm not expected to go with him on his LSK (long slow kayaks), I'd rather do the tempo kayak Grin

I've brought my running stuff to work today so I WILL go out after work.

Writing this while my naughty yr 10s do a test. They're struggling with 30 mins of silence, oh dear!
