sfxmum · 28/10/2011 15:46

hello I am sorry about the rejections, me in my best spaced fashion was not even aware of such events

N4nny good luck and enjoy Iceland

Peach I am sorry about the parental situation, it is a lot to cope with

Rhet how goes the royal visit?

moshi lovely to see you back, is San Fran marathon quite hilly? Grin

I am bound to have missed people I hope everyone is well

good luck Wheely squix M&M and Master I hope things are safe for you there, I heard a segment on Today this morning about the incursion over the border.

sfxmum · 28/10/2011 15:47

and congratulations to all who got places on the Park Run

rhetorician · 28/10/2011 16:08

ibby sorry to disappoint, but my surname starts with 'C'...nothing still. Not sure whether this is good or bad

rhetorician · 28/10/2011 16:18

royal visit going ok, other than my mother's utterly tactless comments to DP in response to her evident discomfort ('well, I never really got to that stage because I was very small with DP' and 'I think you are even bigger with dd2 than with dd1' Shock)...

she is talking about not coming for Christmas - I am not sure how to respond - it would be fab to have Christmas with just us, but I wonder if she will take offence (and I will never be forgiven); DP will kill me if she finds out that the offer was made and I turned it down.

peachsmuggler · 28/10/2011 18:05

Congrats wifit, lucky you, oh and DrNo's DH too!!!! I got rejected too. Boo! Glad one of us got in!

Rhet, accept, accept!!!!!

You must have gone now N4NNY, but in case you are mnetting from there, have a brilliant time, can't wait to hear how it goes!

rhetorician · 28/10/2011 19:17

just got my Olympic rejection :( am surprisingly disappointed to be honest...think we may well go with this once in a lifetime offer :o

sfxmum · 28/10/2011 19:35

say yes thank her profusely for her thoughtful kindness, then change locks and phone number in case she changes her mindGrin

monkeywench · 28/10/2011 19:40

Congratulations wii! (albeit slightly bitter and envious ones ....).

Rhet I definitely think that now is the time to graciously accept your dm's offer. You will obviously be tremendously disappointed etc etc (!) but take it from me, it will be bliss! We always have a day with the inlaws between Christmas and New Year (deep joy) and my family always come on Boxing Day, but other than that it's just us. And I must admit, we love it that way.

monkeywench · 28/10/2011 19:43

sfx that's so funny, when we moved into this house we got a phone call from the previous owner's son about eight weeks later - she hadn't told him she'd moved! Poor boy was really upset.

sfxmum · 28/10/2011 19:48

I love spending Christmas with inlaws, we arrive there in the 23rd and leave on the 26th, perfect, they are great host and I am only required to chat eat and drink

peachsmuggler · 28/10/2011 20:04

Omg monkey, the poor son!!! Grin

We vaguely planned Xmas here on our own this year, given that DD2 will only be a few weeks old then I just didn't want to. We'd have to go up to Scotland to see everyone at some point so much easier to do it while everyone off work (my family is massive) as well as DP off work anyway. Also DP isn't that in to Xmas (I am a little TOO into it for someone my age) so he'd probably end up ordering us a curry instead of doing proper Xmas dinner! This way at least I won't have to make a meal for 10 days!!!

Got back from swimming lesson really late this afternoon with DD having just fallen asleep in pram (5.45), and when I woke her up she had a bit of a tantrum, telling DP to get out of front room etc so I told her she had to go up to her bedroom if she wasn't going to calm down, she did and then fell asleep on bed about 6.15. I went to get her up for dinner about 20 mins later but she said she wanted to sleep so I pulled the duvet over her and switched the light out. Am crossing fingers she will just sleep through but if she doesn't we could be in for a long night! Just had snooze on sofa myself, now must rally to make dinner. Must say it is rather liberating, not doing whole bedtime routine thing!!!

Wheelybug · 28/10/2011 20:39

Thanks for all well wishes . Am getting nervous now.... Thanks squix for local knowledge - I think we've decided that as long as we can squeeze both dds carseats in to MILs car with me in between we'll get the train. But am doubtful so may well need the advice. Just need to summon the courage to break it to dd2 we'll be away for the night...

Well dine to wiifit and demo's dh for getting in the ballot Envy. Neither dh or I did.

Glad mother's visit is going ok rhet.

Am at MILs trying to set up the new garmin - I think I've done it but a couple of quick questions.

Will it automatically show pace/ distance when I start it ? My old one I had to set up to what I wanted to see on the screen

And if I want it to show whether I'm running an 8 or 9 min mile is that pace or speed ? Can never remember .....

Thanks.

Wheelybug · 28/10/2011 20:41

Drno 's dh that should have read.

Also meant to add my ankle is v. Niggly and convinced I am coming down with a cold but assume that's just pre race madness.... At least I hope so.

peachsmuggler · 28/10/2011 20:59

Mind over matter Wheely, rise above those niggles! Don't know anything about Garmins, but am sure one of our other lovely geeksladies will be along soon to help. Good luck breaking the news to DD2, bless her!

Should be pretty good weather for running on Sunday, for GSR, for Nairobi, maybe not so much. However good luck to Wheely, Squix, and Master, this sunday!

DebiTheScot · 28/10/2011 21:01

Wheely 9 min mile is pace. And on mine (the 205) I had to go into the settings to put it on pace as I think it put it onto speed automatically.
How old are your dds and what car does your mil have? Is one of your dds old enough to just have booster seat with no back?

Fingers crossed for you peach!

I'm glad I couldn't enter the ballot, would have been too stressful today if I had!

monkeywench · 28/10/2011 21:05

wheely mine automatically shows average speed over the whole run, nit current speed. So I think that would be pace wouldn't it? It will also show pace per lap as well if you want.

MoshiMoshi · 28/10/2011 21:08

Just quickly popping in to say good luck to wheely, squix and M&M this weekend! Run like the wind (or away from those men with those willies hanging out), ladies, and LFDT yes? [hgrin]

Wheelybug · 28/10/2011 21:17

Thanks all . Think the garmin is sorted. Might try and take it for a brisk walk in the morning.

Debi. Dds are 6 and 2 but both v. Small. We've bought a booster cushion with us for dd1 but dd2 needs to be in a stage 1. MIL has an Audi a3 so it could be touch and go. Or dh will have to go in the boot

Themasterandmargaritas · 28/10/2011 22:15

Tried to post earlier but my t'internet is playing up, so a quick one from my phone.

Wheely I too am convinced I'm starting a cold. Really. Peachy I'm not sure about the weather for Sunday either - we have had torrential storms this past week and there is a huge lake outside my gate. So, torrential rain and grenade attacks, should be one for a PB then. Grin

Sorry about all the race rejections, jolly annoying for you dr No.

Will be back tomorrow when I am more sober likely to get the Internet working properly.

Wheely are you and squix running tom or Sunday?

OP posts:
Wheelybug · 28/10/2011 22:32

Sunday masters. If I don't get on before good luck ! And you too squix but maybe i'll see you there - haha!

DebiTheScot · 28/10/2011 22:40

wheely I reckon you'll squeeze in. I got in the middle of a Mazda 3 with ds1 on a booster, just had to sit at a funny angle!

I take it your race will still be on the M&M? I'm terrible at keeping up with the news so don't know what the latest is.

orangehead · 28/10/2011 23:06

Only half caught up.
Sorry to hear of your experiences monkey and fanny. I used to be very trusting and naive but not so much in my old age. But I don't like that either feel like I am harding up. It such a shame that people make you like that.
Sorry for all the rejections and well done moshi
I did eventually managed to get out for a 5k wed night and got a pb 29 mins 56 secs Smile. Planning 6 miles tomorrow morning.
I am currently in my premenstural stuff everything in my mouth and never feel full stage of my cycle Angry I feel like a pig but still straving. Oh the joys of being a woman.

DebiTheScot · 29/10/2011 07:40

The only bad thing about parkrun is having to get up at 7.15 on Saturday to eat breakfast. The house is so quiet & peaceful tho.

FairyBasslet · 29/10/2011 09:06

Morning all. Just back from Scotland last night after a lovely week catching up with relatives and meeting our two new nieces (DH's brother and his wife had a wee girl three weeks ago and DH's sister is in the process of adopting another wee girl who's 14 months).

Only managed the one run so the trip has done nothing much for my waistline. Back on straight and narrow now though. Missing Parkrun today but will get back on track with my running on Monday.

Good luck to this weekend's racers.
