Well done weekend running bods

Just watched the video of the Stockport ten - love it, it almost makes me want to travel oop north to enter!

Monkeylfdiwench I have the shred - it's very good, a good substitute for going out for a run or to a class. Dp even thinks it good, and he's an ironman don't you know. I would invite you round for a shred taster session but not sure it would be the best first impression Wink

stickylittlefingers · 07/11/2011 21:22

hmmmm, I've wondered about getting the Shred. But I was scared about it being very hard on the knees... is it hard on the knees? Driving home tonight my knees were clicking like anything. I think that's where I'll "go" when I get old :(

In case anyone's interested in being my FB friend (this sounds so needy. It's not needy so much as nosey though Grin) I have just become friends with rhet, so I'm easy to spot...

Stickylittlelfdtfingers. It looks like my fingers went for a dance midway through...

AngeChica · 07/11/2011 21:23

As a newbie I am wondering if anyone has ever gone so far as to get a LFDT t-shirt printed? I quite like the idea of furtively unfurling a banner at the VLM start and getting my photo taken with it.

This is all v inspiring as runnsertipple says. I am in awe of the trail run rhetorician. I have one shit ankle (squished in a childhood playground accident)- I just couldn't do that sadly. Sometimes it just goes, and I have to roll with it or it will sprain. Leads to the odd comedy slapstick moment.

10k/h pace tonight yay, I felt like I had new legs after enforced break. I would like to do a good sub 1h 10k on 20th Nov. There will be a bottle of Adnams beer in the goody bag apparently.

monkeyLFDTwench · 07/11/2011 21:26

We could set up a little demo in Morrisons car park cherry! You'll know me if you see me out running, I have a literally scarlet face so initial impression would never be a good one Wink. Have ordered it now, am looking forward to the pain!

You must be fairly near that scary macho gym near Morrisons, I always see lots of LFDT types coming out?! I imagine them all lifting weights with their teeth.

AngeChica · 07/11/2011 21:33

facebook.com/angechica feel free to add me

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 07/11/2011 21:44

Monkey i looked round the scary gym as someone recommended it for spinning classes. Super sweaty plus the bloke behind the desk had taken a few too many steroids and was scarily manic

sfxmum · 07/11/2011 22:26

hello all, hope everyone is well, and those not so well I hope you will be feeling better soon
and we are nearly running out of thread Shock

sticky blasted irregular hrs, get in the way of running, not fair, stomp in toddler fashion, next time chasing the 27

wheely thanks the 11th is a possibility, nearer to me, and I should like to run it with dh while he is still lardy (no I am not competitive), the poor man eats lots of junk at stressful busy times and then loses it all again until the next time, it is method madness

rhet funny how children adapt get ideas of different rules for different places, I am sure it will all fall into place.

LFDI t-shirt only to be worn in proper context otherwise we will end up on the daily mail as the harlot middle age gang or something (apologies to the youngsters among you)

did a short run with fast burst as per schedule, it feels weird doing the short ones now when generally I would go out for a 5k minimum, 4 today

off to Westfield tomorrow looking for some Christmas shopping, maybe, if I can be bothered I am not keen on shopping centres

peachLFDTsmuggler · 07/11/2011 22:36

Oooh Westfield Xmas shopping sfx, you have my sympathy!!!

Instead of t-shirt I am going to get a LFDT nightie to cover with blood and shit give birth in!

I will add fb friends tomorrow on puter, as iPhone facebook app severely limited.

Sorry you are living in Shittington Crescent again DrNo, hope the fam recovers soon and you don't succumb. There is obviously a quite nasty bug doing the rounds but weirdly I don't know anyone in RL that's had it !?!

This baby is getting way to big for my belly, my ribs are taking a pasting! Thought I was having a show last night. It was a burst haemaroid. Happy days!

DebiTheScot · 07/11/2011 23:12

"it's the goody bag, for the Stockport 10"

It's taken me all day to catch up with you lot. I've had one of those days where I've not had more than 5 mins at a time to read it (and there wasn't even anyone to feel the need to hide my mn addiction from).

Fanny it's hard to believe that you'd never raced before Sept. you sound like such an expert in it, it's amazing how in tune you are with your body and your running.
And Rhet you definately are our coach!

DH is an Aberdeen fan so he's really into all the Alex Ferguson stuff that's been on tv and the radio this week as that was where AF was manager before he went to MU.

I was feeling like a fraud last week as I only got out running twice (or once depending when the start of the week was!) Since the shin splint break I did say I wanted to build it up gradually but last week's effort was pretty poor even for me. I did parkrun last Sat then 4.5 miles mid week & that was it. So this week I will do 3 runs. I need to but find it hard when 2 of them have to be in the dark. Did 4.6 miles yest on my own (at 8:45m/m which was fastest I've done for a while for more than 5k) then another 1.5 miles with ds1 but that was 12m/m.

I have a hill Q and a HM training plan Q but they'll have to wait till tomorrow. Night night.

DebiTheScot · 07/11/2011 23:14

And must get shredding again. My fat belly is coming back Sad

orangehead · 07/11/2011 23:41

Well done wheely that sounds like multitasking at its best Grin.
Hat yes enter it then all three of us can meet up.
Monkey I hope it misses you.
Rhet yes you must change your name.
Oh peachLFDTsmuggler that not nice
I also second shredding, although not done it for a while must start again.
Went to gym tonight to do intervals, Im not having a good time at the gym at the mo. Everyime I went fast I felt like my mooncup was going to fall out Blush Blush. Which as you can imagine was rather distracting. But besides that went well.
"it's the goody bag, for the Stockport 10" you got me at it now debi

orangeLFDThead · 07/11/2011 23:48

There you go

SonicMiddleAge · 08/11/2011 04:56

Sticky, OrangeLFTD ? I know everyone raves about Shred ?but if you?ve got any weights at home , I really like a book called Smart Girls Do dumbbells. It?s a little American for my tastes (very, very enthusiastic...) but the exercises are good and techniques well laid out. What I really liked about it is that it has a really good thirty day plan with 30 min weight sessions. If I can?t do anything else due to time etc I just open the book and do one of the sessions - saves having to think through it (acually normally I do two as she does alternating upper/lower body sessions, and i like to do weights as super sets to get cardio going as well so instead of resting in between sets I alternate exercises e.g. 3 sets of 12 tricep dips, 12 squats etc)

Was going for a jog this morning but did my PT session last night and felt too knackered ? focus was on upper body and abs, and by the end I felt I couldn?t even lift up the bloody medicine ball... I can really feel the abs work helping when I run? just not today when I feel shattered! Should give me a good run tomorrow though.

Having asked for everyone?s views on running 15km race, I think I may well disregard them ? it?s getting hot here, and the opportunity to run 15km with water provided rather than having to tailor my run around water fountains or carry a bottle is quite tempting. Plus it starts at 7 so the deadline will give me the kick up the arse to get out nice and early. After all ? it?s not like I have to run it like a lunatic when I?m there is it...

bonkers20 · 08/11/2011 06:51

Sigh....how I wish I could bunk off work today and catch up with this thread. MUCH more interesting.
I will be doing intervals at lunch time today. I have lost one of my favorite running socks (the dangers of washing kit).

Reading about your burst haemarhoid before 7am was delighful Peach! I hope it's not a painful one.

Debi If you feel like a fraud when you only run twice then I really shouldn't be here because I have weeks when I don't run at all.

DrNortherner · 08/11/2011 08:09

monkeylfdtwench LOVE the new name Grin

peachy PMSL at your burst heammoroid (sp?!) Oh the glamour of pregnancy hey?!

sticky deffo get shred DVD, it's great.

Ds is not well bless him. He did explosive poo last night and missed the loo (TMI?), then fell asleep at 6.30pm which is unheard of. Woke at 7.30am this morning and back on the loo. It's coming out like water. Grim. I really need to eb at work today but he is pale listless and lethargic I would be total cowbag Mother to send him to school but it's so hard when I feel guilty for not being at work.......

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 08/11/2011 08:50

DrN sorry to hear about your DS, hope he feels better.

peach, bleh, the joys of pregnancy.

I meant to add say that I was staying with my parents over the weekend, and on saturday was procrastinating about going for a run, at which point my mum looked me straight in the eye and told me to "JFDI"!

It is a properly dreich day (for any of you familiar with Glasgow parlance). Just dropped DS off at nursery and am working at home. Even though he has been there for nearly a year and it's a great nursery, I still feel really sad about leaving him sometimes. [sad}

DP has the day off also, I have dreams of him making me lots of teas and coffees whilst I am working away and even a cake. will he? I somehow doubt it!
