New thread everyone!

Rest for me today - just six days to go and I've woken with a sore throat .....

OP posts:
Wheelybug · 13/10/2011 20:42

Terrible MIL stories here. I thought mine was bad but nothing like those on here. Just a few barbed comments about my children's upbringing and generally wanting to take over/ she can't bear dd2's crazy hair and messy ways/ a few tactless remarks over our inability to get pregnant second time round (gleaned from the DM) but I can begrudgingly say all yours make her seem perfect....

moshi - he's aiming for 3.10 and will be in a red/yellow fetch top and he's looking out for you.... and you're my local friend ok,which isn't a lie really ?! Grin. He's short and called Garet h. And actually if the thunder run thing comes off and we go co-ed then he'd be a very useful person to have on board. He even likes camping.

rhet - yes our dear little daughters are about the same age (DD2 is March, is your DD feb I think ?).Its an age which is great in so many ways and yet, so bloody awful too. But then I guess that can be said about any age...

runnerstipple · 13/10/2011 20:42

I am agog at how horrific some of your MILs are, poor you. I feel blessed in comparison. Would it be a monstrousness of MILs if they all got together?

I am envious of your running pic running, if I looked half as good as that in the only ones of me in existence then I might share them with you, until then...

Cherry glad to see you've signed up for Cambridge, it'll only be my second HM, and I'm determined to do it faster than the last one. With that I'd aimed at 2.30 and did it in 2.24, with a bit of run/walking between 10.5 and 11.5 miles. I'm not sure what a realistic aim is, but I'd like to get to sub 2.20.

sfx, I'm baking too, have just got flapjacks out of the oven and put in banana bread. Smells good. Peach, would you like some?

futurity · 13/10/2011 20:50

fanny nope...not linking...truely awful pics!

Wheelybug · 13/10/2011 20:52

Oh yes and futurity -where are the pics ??

Wheelybug · 13/10/2011 20:53

oops cross posted then !!

Go on go on go on

fannybanjo · 13/10/2011 21:03

futurity I'm with ya sista, my GNR photos are still giving me shivers, it actually looks like someone has dug a corpse up from local cemetery, lashed some Nike lycra on it, messed it's hair up from it's nice swept back comb over and thrown it into the GNR crowd. They will never be seen and I thank the Lord that my running number wasn't visible because any Tom, Dick and Harry could have found them if it was.

wheely My DD3 is 3 in March. I have to brag that at the moment, she is quite the little star However my children tend to hit terrible twos age 4. Fuck Off Fours I call them (obviously to myself, I NEVER swear at the kids (seriously, I don't, I save it for you lot)) Grin

fannybanjo · 13/10/2011 21:07

In fact, I never swear in front of my children EVER and I often wonder how it is possible to be two separate people. What's the medical term for that....

rhetorician · 13/10/2011 21:17

fanny dissociation; I am putting all my saved up swearing into my training...

wheely DD is end of Jan

the stories of terrible MILs and prematurely dead people leads me to think (as temporary thread shrink) that we are running ourselves out of an early death and away from horrible mother figures...I must go back and find running's pic. futurity you can't get out of it - we, who have held your hand and coaxed you through???

fannybanjo · 13/10/2011 21:21

You see, Rhet with shitgate occurring yet again, I am out the game at the mo, so can't shout 'LET'S FUCKING DO THIS!" at the kids as they will no doubt, tell me to 'FUCK OFF YER SLAG!" as they too, save their swearing for when needs, must.

peachsmuggler · 13/10/2011 21:22

Yes please runnerstipple (I always read your name as runner'snipple Hmm . DP and I were just bemoaning the fact we have no treats in the house. Rubbish! I am in bed, having brushed teeth but fuck it, send some over!

fanny, I have a saintly mouth around my DD too. I honestly don't know how I manage it....

fannybanjo · 13/10/2011 21:26

running just nosed at your photo - it is great, you have the rare knack that you actually look like you are running AND enjoying it!

fannybanjo · 13/10/2011 21:27

hang on, how did I type that my DD3 is 3 in March, she is 3 in early February. Hmm

StrangewaysHereICome · 13/10/2011 21:31

You might have something there Rhet, just wish I could run away as fast as a Moshifarah [hwink].

futurity · 13/10/2011 21:41

if you are on my FB then you know who I am and can hunt them down on the official website if you are that keen to see my elephant thighs and running in a walking style pose...but they are not going on here as I don't want to out myself THAT much! :)

futurity · 13/10/2011 21:42

loving the name Moshifarah by the way! :)

DrNortherner · 13/10/2011 21:43

Evening all. Busy at my end so a flying visit.

Moshi great news you got the go ahead to run, I feel a PB coming on! You can fucking do this!

My MIL is a PITA big time. She is divorced FIL about 30 years ago. They did own a business and were quite well off. They got divorced, she shagged lots of men and pissed her money up the wall. She now lives in a flat owned by dh's bro paying peanuts in rent to him, but she has big money issues (3 cruises and 2 cars in the last 18 months haven't helped...) She is hundreds short each month and is maxed out on her credit cards. I tactfully suggested she get a job tonight in M&S or something to which she said she simply could not work in M&S in this town as she used to be somebody and the whole town would be whispering "well, can you believe it, xxxxx working in M&S....." She actually thinks she is Crystal Carrington Grin

fannybanjo · 13/10/2011 21:53

DrNo is it wrong of me to actually quite like the sound if your MIL...?! Grin

runnerstipple · 13/10/2011 21:54

Here you go peach, banana bread fresh from the oven, still warm. Would you like butter with it? And a side order of flapjack for those sleepless nights (I swear its good breastfeeding food too - I read somewhere that oats help your milk supply and took that as free rein to eat as much of it as I could shovel down). There's plenty to go round for anyone who wants it, and its good runner's fuel.

My name refers to my propensity to fuel myself with prosecco, not before a run though.

Fanny, I find myself saving up swearing for child free moments when I just have to let go with a few buggery bollocks, or my current favorite: poo bum tit face. Maybe that's why we are all taking the LFDI mantra to heart?

fannybanjo · 13/10/2011 22:07

rhet meant to say well done on super quick intervals and I'm with you at Shock at Moshi completing a marathon at that constant pace. Mind blowing.

sfxmum · 13/10/2011 22:07

had a chance to read in laptop instead of phone

strangeways maybe in her delusion she thinks you are am enslaved elf in need of liberation? what a tight loony

Peach/runner baked chocolate muffins to be frosted in the morning, and an apple traybake cake, possibly something else I can come up with not containing nuts and which does not require self raising flour Hmm maybe some fairy cakes kids like those

they are pretty fearsome rushing towards us brandishing their pennies

peach do get some rest, I went to some gigs with dd in belly pretty loud ones but no moshing then, she started on the festival circuit pretty young

fanny missed 24h shitathon (merciful) glad you feeling better, re MIL some people never really develop beyond barely functioning toddlers really
take pity on them and keep them away from you as much a s possible

running what a lovely action picture all sprite and shiny Grin

ibby swelling down thanks for asking Blush

fannybanjo · 13/10/2011 22:09

runnersnipple Wink I'll take some banana bread to bed thank you. In fact, I have four extra ripe bananas in the fruit bowl which I will make into banana bread tomorrow. However I find more than 2 make it too mushy, how many do you use?

runnerstipple · 13/10/2011 22:15

It depends how big they are [ooh er missus emoticon], but I used three medium ones tonight. My wireless connection seems to be up the spout tonight, so I'll leave the banana bread on the table for anyone to help themselves to while I head bedwards.

sfx, what recipe do you use for apple traybake? I have a tree full of apples to use.

sfxmum · 13/10/2011 22:17

fanny a good 'healthy' recipe for 4 bananas breakfast muffins

sfxmum · 13/10/2011 22:20

this and this

rhetorician · 13/10/2011 23:01

sfx they all look yummy; just as well we are runners as well as bakers, eh?

the apple and blackberry one looks particularly scrumptious (I see a lot of blackberry bushes on my quasi-urban runs, no-one ever picks them...something to distract dd with perhaps?)
