New thread everyone!

Rest for me today - just six days to go and I've woken with a sore throat .....

OP posts:
bonkers20 · 08/10/2011 23:00

Oh, I've got my "Fastest old lady" trophy actually sitting on the windowsill collecting flies for all to see. I've also got a gold plastic woman on a base somewhere from winning the East Dereham 10K in the 80s. The EIGHTIES. Feck...how old am I?!!!!
My GNR certificate was hung on the wall in the office at work for a while. They wanted proof after I'd asked them all to sponsor me!

bonkers20 · 08/10/2011 23:02

A knocker draw! What a great idea. Take them off, put them in a drawer, run like a person with no boobs (or Benny Hill whichever you prefer), put them back on again. I really think you're on to something there ibby

fannybanjo · 08/10/2011 23:02

bonkers I was buying paint in flaming Costco whilst in labour with DD2! I also split open a mahoosive pallet of tomatoes, took 2 out thinking I was able to buy them like that and put them on the checkout. The sales lady was hysterical. However riding a bike deserves a salute!

fannybanjo · 08/10/2011 23:04

Grin at knocker drawer however you have a filthy mind bonkers - my mind went straight to door furniture... Wink

rhetorician · 08/10/2011 23:04

what's a knocker drawer? medals are repeatedly used by dd in her enactments of Mog the Forgetful cat; you lot are crackers!

fannybanjo · 08/10/2011 23:05

Costco mentioned twice in 10 mins. I so wish it was Waitrose I purchased bulk items from - would make me sound so much classier.

fannybanjo · 08/10/2011 23:07

rhet what a blatant disrespect you have for your medals!

bonkers20 · 08/10/2011 23:09

Fanny I wasn't riding a bike!!! Noooo, I was helping DH choose a new one (which incidentally he hasn't got yet even though DS2 is 2.5).

I was a pure minded soul before I joined you MN runners....it's the truth.

Off to bed now. On a more serious note, I'm re-reading Jane and Mike Tomblinson's The Luxury of Time book. What a humbling and very sad book about an amazing woman.

peachsmuggler · 08/10/2011 23:10

fanny, do you, in fact, live in Costco???

Sticky, get all your medals, hang them round your neck, walk about town like Mr T. Job done.

stickylittlefingers · 08/10/2011 23:10

Fanny anyone can shop at Waitrose, you have to be a member to shop at Costco. Ergo much more exclusive.

Must go to bed or there'll be no runnning tomorrow. Night!

fannybanjo · 08/10/2011 23:13

Yeah and I'm an EXCLUSIVE TRADE member!

fannybanjo · 08/10/2011 23:14

Right, I'm winding my neck in. Night and good luck to all our racers tomorrow.

bonkers20 · 09/10/2011 06:48

It's probably a load of nonsense but I've always told people that there's more oxygen in the air when it's raining Grin

Good luck today's runners!

futurity · 09/10/2011 07:16

Hope so as it's raining here!

peachsmuggler · 09/10/2011 07:25

bonkers, that sounds very err.. scientific, it must be true!! Also if you don't want to stop at water stations you can just flip your head back and open your mouth! Wink

Themasterandmargaritas · 09/10/2011 08:09

Wish there was a bit more oxygen in the air here! I've just done 19km 1hr 53. There was a lot of "LETS FUCKING DO THIS' especially around km7 and km17. It almost degenerated into a 'Help me Jesus' moment.

How will I ever break 2hrs? I fear it is not possible without a Garmin.

What is a sharpie? Confused I love the idea of a knockers drawer, different sizes and styles depending on what you were doing that day. Some 32AAs for a LSR and some 34DDs for a good night out. Grin

Gosh you lot push out fast babies. All three of mine came out of the sunroof I'm too posh to push.

DrNortherner · 09/10/2011 08:52

fanny I am considering reporting you to MN for blatant advertising of Sharpies and Costco Grin I have only been to a Costco once, it was on my due date with ds, my mate took me thinking I'd be so excited over bulk buying loo rolls and bleach that I would go into labour, alas it didn't work. Ds didn't arrive till 10 days later. And he didn't just slip out........

I don't keep my race numbers, in fact I barely hoard anything. They go in the bin when I get back, I do keep my medals though. Am Envy at the thought of a medal room though.

Have to don my waterproofs now and go dog walking, looking after my mates retriever this weekend and they are desperate to go out. A dog is not just for christmas folks Wink

DrNortherner · 09/10/2011 08:53

master that is a great run, well done! I think we can now break our run sinto 2 catergories - a 'help me jesus run' or a 'lets fucking do this'

Can we call our next thread "Runners: Let's fucking do this?"

Or will this offend?

Do we care?

Themasterandmargaritas · 09/10/2011 09:01

Marvellous idea to categorise the runs. I like that idea and the thread title, who cares if we offend, let's live a little. Wink.

rhetorician · 09/10/2011 09:10

cooking pancakes, and then off for a lfdt run :)

looking forward to race reports later on

sfxmum · 09/10/2011 09:49

for what its worth I am fine with the profanities in the tittle

Thanks to all of you I am more determined than ever to improve, I have also noted how negative my after run notes are, something to change

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 09/10/2011 09:50

I'm in the pen!! Ahhh!!

fannybanjo · 09/10/2011 10:17

Oh oh oh good luck Cherry!!!

I LOVE "Let's FUCKING do this!!!" as a title but hey ho, my mouth like Jim Royle's so no surprise there.... Grin

DrNo we've had some super, smashing, greatttt plants from Costco! And got all DH's party food from there for his 40th and it was spot on. However I do find I go in there for a nose and come out £300 lighter.

master great run - what you want to get under sub 2hrs? A HM?

fannybanjo · 09/10/2011 10:19

bonkers it's true, there is more oxygen in the air when it's raining as less humidity I say it all the time too. Grin

Hatwoman · 09/10/2011 10:22

I'm another quick knocker-outer (no. 2 anyway) 8 pm I was wondering round the kitchen wondering if you could feel contractions in your thighs (honest). 9 pm I was in the shower. 11 pm she was out.

11.05 ambulance arrrived. 11.30 (ish, I wasn't clock-watching) midwife turned up. better late than never...
