New thread everyone!

Rest for me today - just six days to go and I've woken with a sore throat .....

OP posts:
peachsmuggler · 08/10/2011 22:35

£10 for a pen!!! What is so good about these sharpies, or are you paying for the name?

stickylittlefingers · 08/10/2011 22:35

Fanny just wouldn't be practical, might trip me up. Tho if I ran Benny Hill style, that would seriously up my pace, so it's worth considering...

Peach brilliant - we have a load of big sellotape left over from the last move, erm, somewhere - in the next week I should be able to hunt it out and it will have a Use at last!

stickylittlefingers · 08/10/2011 22:40

And I bring you - cheap sharpie

when's your next race Fanny???

DebiTheScot · 08/10/2011 22:40

"Am sorting of hoping for a sub-24 hour one this time" Oly a runner would think of labour times like that!

sfx does it tear? Usually numbers are coated paper that doesn't tear that'll be ok in the rain.

DrNortherner · 08/10/2011 22:40

Writing across tits and baggy fannys, love this thread Grin

Steak was great, x factor was shit. Love love love that peach is hoping for a sub 24 hour labour, sounds like she is taking about an ultra Grin

I am off to bed guys. Night all.

fannybanjo · 08/10/2011 22:42

peach I think Sharpies are a brand endorsed by David Beckham which he uses to doodle his own tattoos. Hence high RRP however I noticed Costco selling them in packs of 400000 for £50 but I needed the 400 toilet rolls more so put them back on shelf. How I love Costco for managing to convince me that The Apocalypse is nigh and I must buy all essentials in bulk.

DrNortherner · 08/10/2011 22:42

Great minds debi Grin

And with all the talk about labour and fannies I just winced at "does it tear" then realised we were back to race numbers......

DebiTheScot · 08/10/2011 22:42

sticky, not sfx

DrNo we had steak, chips, onion rings, tomatoes and pepper sauce the other night. It was amazing!

stickylittlefingers · 08/10/2011 22:44

tomorrow's plan, PB 10k plan

mile 1 - easy warm up
mile 2 - running 80% pace shouting "LET'S FUCKING DO THIS!"
mile 3 - recovery easy
mile 4 - super fast Benny Hill style
mile 5 - recovery easy
mile 6 - sprint finish

I think I'm sorted

DebiTheScot · 08/10/2011 22:45

ha ha DrNo Grin

I've got a set of 4 mini sharpees that I don't think I paid more than about £3 for.
I had to stop a kid defacing a 1p piece the other day with some lovely coloured sharpees, I tried to take the purply maroony one and the teal coloured ones off him but he was having none of it.

stickylittlefingers · 08/10/2011 22:46

ah no, debi it's just a piece of paper as far as I can see tis in Yorkshire

ibbydibby · 08/10/2011 22:46

Paws sorry, I also missed you off list - good luck!

Re running number - aren't they usually made of quite strong paper? Sort of toughened? Must say I have never thought about waterproofing it in case of rain...I do use my extra wide house moving sellotape to laminate my parkrun barcode though, very successful it is too.

Talking of race numbers, what do you all do with them after the race? I used to just bin them, but on hearing that a friend pastes all his in a scrap book, with results, and picture(s) if available, I now do the same....Hmm.

No running mantra here, though close to the moment of DS1's birth I was heard to yell "I've walked the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path so I must be able to push this baby out" (It seemed logical at the time)

Looking forward to tomorrow's reports.

MoshiMoshi · 08/10/2011 22:47

The Bay To Breakers race in SF has naked racers! Wink That has to be A Good Thing, yes? Or am I moving somewhere crazy... Hmm

fannybanjo · 08/10/2011 22:48

sticky shout on mile 5... "I'm COMING, I'M FUCKIN' COMINGGGG!!!!". That'll separate the men from the boys!! Good plan though and wearing no top will certainly get your photo in the local press. Tin Tin's Tits will be the headline Wink

Contrary to speculation I haven't been drinking tonight.

MoshiMoshi · 08/10/2011 22:49

sticky - I would do the first two miles progressively warming up before the Let's Fucking Do It mile etc. Assuming you haven't done a prior warm up.

fannybanjo · 08/10/2011 22:50

oh yes racing - next race is 6 November. My main mission is not a PB but to look human whilst racing as my whole family hysterical at my GNR photos. Fuckers.

Moshi I'm on next plane to San Frank!

bonkers20 · 08/10/2011 22:51

Yes, numbers are usually on a sort of waxy paper.

I keep my numbers in a pile of stuff my keepsake box, with details of the event and my result on.

Good luck everyone. I have a cold so no running for me this weekend....and I was SO looking forward to heading out into this rain!

sticky I really wish I was running with you tomorrow...for mile 2,4 and 6 anway! Good luck!

Hatwoman · 08/10/2011 22:51

good luck to all tomorrow's racers.

stickylittlefingers · 08/10/2011 22:54

good advice ladies... I feel safe from any local rapists and other assorted attackers, they'll be a lot more scared of me than I am of them...

ibby I have kept my favourite race numbers Blush (that's my favourite races, not my favourite numbers, not quite that much of a train spotter). Also not sure what to do with the medals. They're just in a pile on top of a book case in our bedroom, which isn't really the Ideal Home look. But what do you others do with them?

sfxmum · 08/10/2011 22:55

Flapping tits, sharpies, babies shooting out you lot are making me laugh Smile

fannybanjo · 08/10/2011 22:56

I wear my GNR medal 24/7.... I'm getting it tattooed on my chest.

bonkers20 · 08/10/2011 22:56

My second child was like a bat out of hell. Bike shopping with DH at 6pm, DS born at 9pm (not in the bike shop!). It was only when the young bike shop man asked me whether I was OK and would I like a seat that I realised that perhaps my internal focussing wasn't working any more.

I also like to think that my running helped me not need further interventions after my epidural with DS1. Pushed the little man out without feeling any contractions (nice, but odd).

ibbydibby · 08/10/2011 22:58

I keep my medals in my knocker drawer! Friend down the road has a room devoted to running stuff apparently, and medals hang on the wall.

DH writes a note of his time on the back of his medals (in indelible ink). Not sure where he keeps them - not in my knocker drawer anyway!

peachsmuggler · 08/10/2011 22:59

Oooh, I think I'll start a geeky running scrap book this year, great idea.

Excellent race plan Sticky!

ibbydibby · 08/10/2011 22:59

Blush for knocker drawer read knicker drawer. Not sure how that happened twice.
