The Couch to 5k 2011 - Part 3 : Keep Holding My Hand So We Don’t get Separated!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/07/2011 23:07

Yet more space for us to talk about our progress on the Couch to 5K programme, the stuff we wear and the music we listen to! New runners are warmly welcomed - come and give it a whirl, you know you want to! There has been a lot of success on this thread, both in the UK and internationally, moral support is abundant, and there is always a kick up the arse for anyone who needs one!

If we stick together we will enjoy success, I thought song lyrics were appropriate so in the words of Gwen Stefani.. Grin

Run, running all the time
Running to the future
With you right by my side
Me, I'm the one you chose
Out of all the people
You wanted me the most

Running, running, as fast as we can
As fast as we can
Do you think you'll make it?
Do you think we'll make it?
We're running, keep holding my hand
It's so we don't get separated

Be, be the one I need
Be the one I trust most
Don't stop inspiring me...

Good luck everyone x
Wine

OMG I have just watched the clips Shock and I've had to have a lie down.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/08/2011 15:21

I've ordered it...

Confused

Well, I have been giving this more thought and decided that creaky floorboards are a poor excuse. I also cannot coordinate legs and arms simultaneously at step classes, however I am quote good at Just Dance on the Wii. Anyway, we are off on holiday again soon, so I had been thinking September for Shred. Came back to the thread- spooky!

LinzerTorte · 11/08/2011 17:19

I'm definitely in for a September Shred! Arf at the photo Pistey - although that is in fact my normal running gear. Grin Have just had an e-mail from Amazon to say that my DVD is on its way, eek!

Set my alarm for 6 am, got up, looked out of the window and decided it looked like rain but mainly I was just too tired, so went back to bed. Tonight I will go to bed at a decent hour and I will go out for a run tomorrow morning.

BorisBearsLovechild · 11/08/2011 18:03

Have just ordered it. Confused Yikes. Jings. What the hell have I let myself in for? I am so easily led, you lot are terrible. So strange that we are all in the same position contorted ie. unco-ordinated, and ready to go - meant to be.

Promise you won't shout at me when if I become a cropper?

I love that pic Pistey of me, and the one of you three is also very funny Grin. Love the outfits.

Am out in the morning, hopefully for a lovely run although I am a bit old lady achey today for some reason. Maybe because I AM an old lady. Although I've got lovely nails. Read my womens running magazine last night, bits of it were quite good but it was all a bit serious - think it would benefit from a column by us lot in there Grin.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/08/2011 18:14

So we are really going to do this then??!!
Come September 1st we will all be in our respective homes in our leotards and legwarmers with our tins of soup?
Grin
I probably won't manage tins of soup, I'll probably be on cup a soup sachets! Arf...

Great news everyone!!!GrinGrin You'll be so pleased......

Just off for my run now but hopefully I'll be back for more chat after my run and dinner.

BorisBearsLovechild · 11/08/2011 19:24

Can I use these please instead of packet soup?

LinzerTorte · 11/08/2011 20:06

Those are just what I need, Bear - light enough to carry back with me in my suitcase! Although packet soup would be equally good, I'm sure. Grin

JelliBelli · 11/08/2011 20:28

I'm back! I'm back! Not even had my dinner yet - I had to come and tell you first. I did my bestest run ever today - 3 miles in 29.06!! Am firmly ensconced in PRSP!

I think I was so pleased for you all that you've decided to shred that I was in a great buoyant mood and started strongly and just carried on....

Thank you ladies Grin

LinzerTorte · 11/08/2011 20:41

Yay, well done Jelli! That's about 5k, isn't it? (I've forgotten how to count in miles.) You must have been running like the wind. Grin

JelliBelli · 11/08/2011 20:50

Thanks Linzer, yes 3 miles is about 170m short of 5km.

I feel very energised Shock!!

BorisBearsLovechild · 11/08/2011 21:13

Hurrah Jelli, well done! That's fantastic! You certainly deserve to be in PRSP now. Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/08/2011 21:39

Rained all day on and off here too, won't be able to get out tomorrow either as I'm at work all day and out from 6pm in the evening (not motivated enough to get up and go before work). Will get myself off to Amazon and order the Shred now. I think I have already got the handweights, DH bought me them years ago, they have never been used and I nearly Freecycled them in a fit of decluttering a while ago, but pretty sure I kept them.

Not wearing a leotard though, no way! Old leggings and a tee shirt all the way for me.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/08/2011 21:43
LinzerTorte · 11/08/2011 21:48

I shall be wearing a leotard and purple nail polish, and I don't care who sees me. Grin Anything to break the 30 minute barrier (having been spurred on by Jelli)...

LinzerTorte · 11/08/2011 21:55

That will be my shredding outfit obviously. Although wearing a leotard for running might help, I suppose, as it would force me to run ridiculously fast so that no one would recognise me. Or perhaps I could find a running partner to distract attention away from me.

BorisBearsLovechild · 11/08/2011 22:13

Linzer Shock - that package would distract me for sure. As would this (see photo caption) when I'm out running Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/08/2011 22:25

Linzer!!!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/08/2011 22:29

Gawd. I didn't read any reviews! Not sure I want to now Confused

Am loving the BorisBearsInflatableWeights! I def need some of those to go with my Team Purple Official leotard, leg warmers and optional scrunchie.... What i do know is that I am so doing this shred lark in PRIVATE Blush

Have post boxercise lettuce legs right now and have slightly collapsed. Am running tomorrow. That won't be pretty. Hope I get some distraction!

OP posts:
JelliBelli · 11/08/2011 22:52

Linzer Shock that running partners outfit rather makes me think 'who?' followed by 'where?', 'when?' and 'why?'. I mean obviously great for a running partner (I won't be showing them to DHShock), but really in RL would anyone really buy one? There can't be that many fancy dress parties can there? [niaive emoticon]. I think I would rather run with Boris...

Pistey see, Shred is ok but boxercise just sounds so sweaty and far too much like Hard Work and unpleasantness energetic that I've never been remotely tempted as far too cowardly. You're also going to be braver than me tomorrow , so good luck with that Wink (closet S&B lurker).

Whisper I actually wear a scrunchie is that bad?

sweatybutslightlysmug · 12/08/2011 00:13

Jelli Jelli Jelli, well done for breaking the 30 min barrier!

All of you - thank you for giving me such a huge hoot. I still did not manage to get out for new trainers and was feeling quite glum until I caught up on the thread.

I will be unable to start to shred until 5th Sept - please wait for me!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/08/2011 06:39

Jelli - scrunchies are gooooooooooooooood!
In the Team Purple shred outfit ensemble they will be optional Because we don't all have swishy ponytails, but if you have one it so needs to be matching........

Although I'm coming round to thinking a Jillian style bra top and trackies might be a possibility for our team kit. In purple of course.

What do my fellow Shreddies think?!!!!!!!!

Sweaty - 5th sounds good to me!

OP posts:
LinzerTorte · 12/08/2011 08:24

I last owned a scrunchie in the 1980s. And my hair wouldn't know how to swish to save its life; it's not long enough for a ponytail, but long enough to be annoying on a windy day (or possibly when I'm jumping up and down - haven't tried that yet).

The 30 minute barrier still eludes me. Just back from a run in the rain - well, heavy drizzle (but my clothes were soaked when I got back). Had a bit of an iPod disaster as I discovered that I'd somehow managed to delete all my music and playlists except for four Archers podcasts (not quite sure how they count as music rather than podcasts). Hmm Luckily all my C25k podcasts were still there so I ran to the Week 9 podcast and Laura's dulcet tones.

Not sure how long I ran for as I pressed the wrong button while trying to stop the "workout", but the podcast had already finished so it was def. over 30 minutes. I bet it's 31.5 minutes again, but will have to log on to the Nike website to find out.

Jelli Fancy dress? Shock That's my running partner's on-trend outfit you're talking about! But wouldn't you just like to see Boris in one? Then again...
