A new thought… Liz Truss is a Labour Party mole?

A new thought… Liz Truss is a Labour Party mole?

Far more likely to be a Russian one, she has no morals, in that she can so easily swap from LibDem to Far right, from Remainer to ERG brexitier, republican to royalist.

Full list of JD Wetherspoon pubs up for sale

I'm amused, in an ironic sense, by the various angry/distressed/moaning threads about Calamity Truss and Kwasinomics. This thread has been warning about this shit ever since the Brexit referendum, and MNetters wanted our discussions shunted into this hidden folder because it was all so boring and doom-mongering.

DuncinToffee · 28/09/2022 18:42

Brexit is still the word that should not be mentioned on MN

So it’s been reported that the UK markets have shed £500bn in combined value since Truss became PM. The pound is collapsing. The IMF has reprimanded us. The Bank of England is spending £65bn buying up gilts to protect our pension funds. Interest rates have gone up again, but… hey it’s not Labour.

Doesn’t that make us all feel better. And is there a chance that Johnson will be back by Christmas? Are Tory members that crazy? No, don’t answer that.

DrBlackbird · 29/09/2022 08:02

Ah forgot to add the over 300 mortgage products being pulled from the market in the last 24 hours with interest rates soaring.

But let’s crack on and build those new houses.

SerendipityJane · 29/09/2022 08:17

All those collapsing chains should sow the seeds for a lot of people disinclined to vote Tory.

What a shame.

Guardian reports it's 1000 mortgage deals now. So much winning.

Chevyimpala67 · 29/09/2022 19:48

40% of all mortgage products disappeared

DuncinToffee · 29/09/2022 19:57

Putin's fault......

pointythings · 29/09/2022 21:01

Anyone see the latest YouGov Westminster Voting intention stats? That's not a Conference Bounce, it's an Incompetence Bounce.

It is becoming increasingly obvious that the Bank of England and the government are heading for a showdown. Mark Carney's words earlier were restrained and tactful, but it is clear the financial establishment and the government are pulling in very different directions. Something will have to give.

HannibalHeyes · 02/10/2022 14:27

And with a bathetic inevitability, the Kent brewery hailed as a "Brexit Champion" has gone into administration...

Chevyimpala67 · 02/10/2022 14:36

I nean...its almost like brexshit is a really stupid decision..🙄😬😡

Chevyimpala67 · 02/10/2022 14:47

First casualty on our local high Street - an antiques shop that has been open for about a year.

Can't see a couple of other recently opened gift/craft shops staying open much longer either.

Small bookshop has also closed ☹️

I went to the local deli yesterday and paid £10 for 6 x rolls, 3 slices of off the bone ham and 2 sausage rolls 😳 (no, not in London or SE)

I won't be going back anytime soon.... That's just extortionate.

I will continue to support the local grocer/eco place but that's it.

Energy prices up since yesterday, big interest rate rises on the horizon and food prices going insane...its gonna be grim.

If you are unfortunate enough to have mortgage and energy fixed rates coming to an end you could go from being ok to really not ok very quickly.

Interesting that LT has thrown Kamikwasi under the bus earlier today in a TV interview....

NEW and WOW: Steve Baker, former head of ERG apologises to Ireland and the EU for “not always behaving” in a way that they would “trust us” in Brexit negotiations . “I am really sorry about that because relations with Ireland are not where they should be”

No makey nicey no US Trade Agreement...

DuncinToffee · 02/10/2022 18:45

Yes, it makes you wonder what they are up to next...

Chevyimpala67 · 03/10/2022 09:16

Aahhhh....
I've the smell of a U turn in the morning! 😃
Seriously though, this tory conference is shaping up pretty badly even by their low standards...

pointythings · 03/10/2022 09:33

@Chevyimpala67 there's a thread on the U turn this morning. So many Tory handmaidens it isn't even funny. One of them actually went 'Oh but Labour did these U turns in 1976'.

I really hope this is a measure of how desperate they are.

Chevyimpala67 · 03/10/2022 09:39

Yes I saw that 😃

RafaistheKingofClay · 03/10/2022 11:19

As glad as I am to see that the policy of double down and then u turn hasn’t changed into follow through however stupid the policy, I’d much rather we had a government that didn’t need to do this at all.
