Biden's tweet
I am sick and tired of trickle-down economics. It has never worked.

We're building an economy from the bottom up and middle out.

At the same time Truss told BBC Chris Mason that she was vowing to
review "all tax rates"

I see a 2-track EU is being resurrected (no matter what people want to call it).

Club of Nations, I saw it mentioned and thought it was something UEFA had come up with..

It's a Macron initiative, not sure that will go down well Grin

Since the UK won't be welcome, it's hypothetical really.

The UK isn't welcome anywhere it can fuck things up for others. Hence the lack of talks about EEA membership.

So it seems that the UK is leaving @EUI_EU. Negotiations have failed. This morning we received an official letter from the UK Government confirming that the current UK-EUI relationship will end as the interim arrangement closes in December 2022. End of an era.

Sigh.

quiteathome · 21/09/2022 18:49

They really did fuck us all over didn't they?

Yep.

Peregrina · 22/09/2022 07:59

Well of course, universities in China are going to be rushing to make arrangements with us as a substitute.

So much Winning.

DuncinToffee · 22/09/2022 09:15

Rees-Mogg’s plans for “retained EU law” come before parliament today.

DuncinToffee · 22/09/2022 09:41

That's very interesting, thanks Serendipity

Oh for heaven’s sakes… bloody houses again. Apparently that is the only good that the uk is capable of producing. Or… might it have anything to do with who has the ‘ear’ of our new cabinet?

Tories gonna tory 🤷‍♀️

I'll benefit us as a household. But I still think its wrong and regressive.

But I guess austerity didn't work. Brexshit has been a disaster...

It'll be like 1976 all over again. I predicted a run on the pound at some point.

Sigh.

Chevyimpala67 · 23/09/2022 16:39

And...how is something benefitting 1% of the population going to translate into enough votes at a GE?

Chevyimpala67 · 23/09/2022 21:16

I'd honestly have more faith in Kwasi from the octonauts...
🙄

Jason118 · 23/09/2022 22:10

It makes me very sorry to say, but I think the UK is behaving a bit like an emerging market turning itself into a submerging market," Mr Summers told Bloomberg.
What does he know, former US Secretary, bloody experts, I thought we'd got rid of them now in glorious Brexitannia?

Peregrina · 25/09/2022 17:36

We know that allowing more immigration is not a problem to Brexiters because Brexit was not about immigration, was it?😉

RafaistheKingofClay · 25/09/2022 18:37

We’re going to spend the next few weeks listening to them talk about how they need to do everything they can to stimulate growth and listing all the ways they can stimulate growth except for THAT one way.

you know the one. The one that begins with ‘R’ and ends with ‘ejoin’.

TheElementsSong · 26/09/2022 07:59

Even my Tory-supporting City-of-London wealthy friends are very displeased by this new government and last week's "fiscal event". These are people who work in finance, economic policy and that sort of thing. They've been discussing it furiously and copiously all weekend. They're saying it's an incoherent mess and won't help the country at all.

But then I realised that even this group of people aren't the target market for Trussonomics. They're not selfish and money-hoarding enough, they were for Remain and despite having swung behind the successive Tory PMs for "let's move on" reasons are tainted by not being sufficiently disconnected from reality, and after all, the Tories know that these people probably aren't going to vote for other parties so they have nowhere to go.

The pound plunges to its lowest level against the US dollar - at just over $1.03 - since decimalisation in 1971

Govt to scrap “Brexit bonus” which would have paid farmers and landowners to enhance nature as wildlife groups slam “all-out attack” on environment

Peregrina · 26/09/2022 09:12

Who will they blame - Remainers - sorry 'remoaners', Labour, Corbyn, Starmer, immigrants, the unions er um.

DuncinToffee · 26/09/2022 09:36

Don't forget people on benefits or any 'low' paid worker.
