I found the reaction to De Pfeffle and wife Interesting today...

To be publicly booed at such an important national occasion is surely quite worrying for him?

Royalists tend to be tory/more right wing, so i was surprised tbh. I wonder if Tory HQ are watching? It's gonna get worse too.

De Pfeffle doing the bible reading made me feel nauseous...

He. His brother was gallivanting somewhere also at the time. Popped out of our neighbours' border a few minutes later and trotted across to see us.

🤣🤣

Much going on jubilee wise up your way?

Not much happening here (lunch thing on Sunday on main street)

My ds1 said HMQ looks very frail. I have to agree.

And as for Prince Nonce and covid? (Chinny reckon) but it saves face I guess.

In other news: (as I think it's important to document this for the future..)

Mum will be waiting months for her urgent colonoscopy (until autumn) as they are currently working on referrals from February :(

Foodbank donations have fallen off a cliff :( understandable in the current circs but worrying

I need an urgent blood test...can't get one til July...

Ds2 would really benefit from some counselling. Camhs wait list here is 3 years

Petrol is now over £1.70 per litre here. Diesel is over £1.80

By October our energy bill will have more than doubled from March (to £250 pm)

Food bill now £700 pm

If you haven't already check out the staff vacancy thread...do! Its really eye opening and shows just how damaging brexshit is

Absolutely nothing on the Jubilee up here. No-one that I know is doing anything. I saw the some total of two slightly bedraggled Union flags as we drove across to my dad's yesterday, but dh pointed out it was in Possil, which has a strong Rangers fan base and they would have been left over from the celebrations when they won the Scottish Cup.

I admire the Queen for her years of service and sense of duty (oh that we had a PM that had the same understanding of wheat duty involves Hmm) but I genuinely can't get excited about the Jubilee and all the sycophancy as it appears to be me

But I'm not going to rain on other people's parades if that gives them some pleasure.

prettybird · 03/06/2022 19:59

Health service up here might have its problems and is definitely creaking but it doesn't seem to be anywhere near as bad as down in England.

My dad is 85 and here to see his GP within a week: he has had a few recent blood tests, checking to see why his UTI was so bad, a follow up to his pacemaker fitting and an appointment with a geriatrician. The only thing he's getting done privately is the cataract operation he needs - so he only had to wait 6 weeks and not 2 years.

Two friends have recently been diagnosed with bowel cancer (one in his 60s, the other only in their 40s) and they've been treated very quickly, both from initial diagnosis through to ongoing chemotherapy.

It's always a shame when the good old uk weather spoils events long in the planning...I felt so sorry for that chap who planned that thames flotilla for the diamond jubilee 😮 all that work...ruined.

I don't admire HMQ tbh. But she has been a constant my whole life (well, for everyone under 70!) and sadly her heirs aren't much cop.

I'm glad to hear that.

Mums bloods still aren't normal (high white count which means infection somewhere...) and she has a phone appt with the Dr to discuss on....7th July!

I know someone who is the CFO for a fairly local NHS Trust...the nhs has collapsed in England. They just aren't saying it publicly yet :(

Oh!...

I forgot...

What did you think of the questions put to De Pfeffle by Justine mn?

I won't say what did you think of the answers because he didn't really give any...

Our very Tory very Brexity little town is covered in bunting - on the streets, on people's houses, everywhere. Beacon lighting and fireworks yesterday, Sunday there's a street party type thing in the park. Forecast says buckets of rain and I don't give a stuff.

I don't think the Tories will get properly scared unless they lose both Wakefield and Totnes and Honiton in the upcoming by-elections.

NHS waiting lists are indeed horrendous - DD2 waiting for both rheumatology and endocrinology appointments, wait time likely to be 5 months. This time last year she 'just' had fibromyalgia. Now she's in a wheelchair and barely able to walk, is subluxing joints all over the place and her hormone balance is fully screwed.

But she's going to pass first year uni with good grades.

My cats are amazing, I love them all.

I'm so, so sorry to hear about your dds health problems. And so young! :(
I have fibro and it properly sucks.

What an AMAZING 👏 achievement to pass her 1st year at uni! (She must be same age as my ds1?)

Your cats are fab 🙂 the fab 4? 🙂

OP posts:
pointythings · 03/06/2022 21:47

@ChiswickFlo she's 19, was diagnosed with fibro at 15. I really hope those referrals lead to something diagnosable that at the very least gives us better pain management strategies. Having a diagnosis will also make it harder for the faculty to wriggle out from under their responsibilities in terms of reasonable adaptations.

The cats are indeed fab - all rescues and they get on really well. The little black one was born feral but after leading me a merry chase let me catch her and take her to the vet for booster vaccinations - no attempt at biting or scratching, once caught she just let me hold her, put her in the carrier and handle her at the vets. She's getting so brave. The ginger and white boys are just insane, but very friendly and easy to handle. The big old tabby (he's actually only just 3 but acts like an old man) is a huge anxious softie.

ChiswickFlo · 03/06/2022 21:51

Oh poor love:(
Are they looking at EDS?
I had a big old soft tabby cat too. He was like a Teddy bear 🐻

OP posts:
pointythings · 03/06/2022 21:55

EDS is on the radar in terms of mobility, possible thyroid problems on the endocrine side. Lots to work through. She's managing it all independently.

DrBlackbird · 04/06/2022 00:04

Sorry about your DD @pointythings Flowers I’ll PMK here but happy to continue with other thread until it’s done.

Peregrina · 04/06/2022 00:25

It's always a shame when the good old uk weather spoils events long in the planning...

This is how it should be. It rained for the Coronation.
My sympathies to those of you waiting for health care. It should not be as shit as it is. I don't know why Leavers aren't up in arms about it.

mathanxiety · 04/06/2022 04:44

Pmk, and commiserations to those at the receiving end of sub-optimal medical services and all who care about them. Flowers

ChiswickFlo · 04/06/2022 09:11

Thank you @mathanxiety

I downplay it a bit because, really, who wants to hear how ill mum was, how she cried in pain, asked to die, how she desperately licked the oramorph from the plastic meds cup, how she nearly fell out of the chair twice through sheer exhaustion, how I truly thought she was dying...and as for the "care" she recieved ....

Until you've experienced it I'm not sure you'd believe how bad it is

10 years ago the majority of staff in the local hospital a&e were white British or from the EU (my county is 98.8% white btw)

Now they are mostly south east Asian, Indian and African.

I'm not sure that's ^ the result brexshitters wanted. The language barrier is an issue imo. The other issue is that I'd bet most of them are on agency pay so costing the Trust £££££

It's partly a retention crisis after covid (but it was bad before covid tbh) which is affecting education too.

My ds2s school is losing 4 very experienced staff next term. They are retiring early. 2 more staff are leaving teaching altogether. I'd be amazed if the HT lasts another year...

Ds1s experience in a local RG University hasn't been stellar either...lots of very unhappy staff, lots taking early retirement before their pensions shrink by 1/3.

This country is in such a mess. Maybe why I struggle so much with things like the jubile? £38 per household for what?

Some people can't cook food or keep their lights on ffs.

ChiswickFlo · 04/06/2022 09:20

I'm sat on the bed drinking coffee ☕️
Pondering - yet again - how the UK got here and what the hell we can do about it.

Some of you may know I run a foodbank.

Don't suffer in silence. Don't assume it can't get any better.

We deserve better. We deserve a Govt not run by a venal, lying, adulterous shit bag. We deserve decent educations for our kids. We deserve decent healthcare. 2 x ft wages should be enough to comfortably live!

Get angry. Contact your local elected representatives. Tell them enough is enough.

I salute those who booed De Pfeffle and wife yesterday. I hope he is booed at every public appearance from now on.

Once tory HQ think he's a liability he'll be gone. Not the most loyal folks, the tories 🙂

OP posts:
Peregrina · 04/06/2022 13:02

Tell them enough is enough.

This is hard to do when they are completely tin eared. You would think that the loss of 1/4 of council seats in areas where Labour were supposedly more under threat would have concentrated a few minds. We were told to move on. I would have though booting out large numbers of your party would be an indication that we have moved on, but not in the direction that they want.
