If Starmer gets a FPN and resigns that is going to make Boris and his gang look even more immoral. If he doesn't get a FPN, he still wins.

"Times is reporting that Starmer is considering announcing that he would resign as Labour leader if he is found to have broken lockdown rules"

Is he saying this because he knows he is innocent, but it will show Johnson up for the immoral charlatan that he is and put pressure on him to resign although we know he won't ?

Yup

Eve · 09/05/2022 19:41

Given daily mail have focused on Starmer for last 2 weeks - wonder what they will focus on tomorrow!!

some rapid backpedaling perhaps?

ChiswickFlo · 09/05/2022 19:44

Sadly the Met are in the Govts pocket

This could badly misfire for Starmer

OP posts:
pointythings · 09/05/2022 19:54

The Met can't investigate this, it happened in Durham. And Boris already has his fine.

ChiswickFlo · 09/05/2022 20:05

Hmmmm
Still not convinced
But he's a lawyer so should understand the implications of this statement

And now the lovely Owen Jones is laying into Starmer fgs… I really give up.

How does one "get away with" not breaking the law?

I didn't know it was a crime now to not break laws. But that must be so. In Boris Johnson's world lying is true.

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/stop-posturing-eu-tells-britain-after-threat-to-northern-ireland-protocol-mr58n23kt

Would be an interesting move for a UK Foreign Secretary to declare the US and EU wrong, the views of Northern Ireland voters irrelevant, and trade conflict with our key partners a good thing. All because of an international treaty she voted for.

Not a good look.

didn't see this in the uk press yet - uk apparently to stop the northern ireland protocol.

Something in The Graun that Liz Truss is determined to come all over Terminator tuff and show those EU baddies who’s boss by ‘scraping’ parts of the NI protocol. Otherwise how can they ever expect the DUP to bail them out ever again?

This world is getting crazier by the day.

Pritti Awful now admitting that LGBT refugees, who may well be wanting to claim asylum because they’d be persecuted for being LGBT in their home countries, could be persecuted in Rwanda for being LGBT.

John Allan, Chairman of Tesco, tells @Marthakearney says customers are asking check out staff to stop scanning their shopping once their bill hits a certain amount

I saw this yesterday when I went shopping, a couple with a self scanner discussing what they else they could buy before they reached £40 Sad

The Belgium initiative.

While I appreciate Brexit was not to everyone’s liking, it does highlight certain qualities that are helpful to business. Knowing that the government does what the people tell it to do. Whatever you think of Brexit, it helped to reinforce the belief that governments are the servants of the people. Never the other way around.
An excerpt from this www.gov.uk/government/speeches/minister-mordaunt-speech-to-belgian-trade-delegation-led-by-hrh-princess-astrid

Suggesting that Belgian companies might want to set up shop in the UK to benefit from the UK's global trade deals made me laugh out loud. As if.

People in Wakefield are disillusioned with Brexit and many regret voting for it, will they still vote Tory in the by election?

FrankieStein403 · 11/05/2022 08:20

So it turns out that gulf war syndrome was caused by those non-existent WMDs.

Given Blair's downfall was a key source of the distrust of government that ultimately led to Brexit its sad it took so long to come out.

I don't believe it.
On here and in really life most Leave voters would burn their own house down for Brexit. Look at the DUP and the mess they've got themselves into because of Brexit its brought their worse nightmare of a United Ireland closer than even and yet still absolute 100% devotion to it.

Peregrina · 11/05/2022 09:07

Maybe. But on here, our Westministenders/Brexitmegathreads are still going. When did the Brexit Arms stop serving?
