Do any of you watch Phil Moorhouse's 'A Different Bias' channel on YouTube?

Yes.

Yes and also Maximillien Robespierre both very informative

ChiswickFlo · 30/04/2022 15:20

I see MF has apologised to nhs staff and teachers for his fuckwitted comments.

I also see that NP has resigned after admitting viewing porn in the HofC TWICE

I also note not much being made of this:

The MF apology is of the 'I'm sorry I got caught and you are offended' variety. NP only went because his contituents weren't happy h go caught - and they'll just pick another flavour of Tory.

Lonelycrab · 30/04/2022 17:06

Those two are both good, as is Michael Lambert.

Alexandra2001 · 01/05/2022 20:14

Apparently English immigrants living Spain, can no longer drive there as the UK and Spain failed to covert licences before the 30/04 deadline.

Sorry but i had a bit of a chuckle at the 'Mail comments and because i happen to know someone who lives there, is effected and voted for Brexit..... idiot.

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 01/05/2022 22:04

I live in Spain, there was loads and loads of warning about exchanging uk licences before the cut off date and it was a really simple process. Some British people didn't get their act together and do it in time and now their only option is to take their driving test again, but that is totally their own fault.

Yes, we watch them all. Is there anyone I'm missing?

With a heavy heart it seems this is the end of the line for the Brexit threads. With lineage running back thru Westminstenders, looks like we've run out of puff. No posts since Monday?

Peregrina · 05/05/2022 09:05

You may be right, but not much has been happening on the Brexit front.
Johnson is busy doing his Churchill act on Ukraine, even though we aren't actually at war with Russia nor official allies of Ukraine.
It will be interesting to see what today's election results bring - and it might particularly be worth watching the NI results where Sinn Fein are expected to become the largest party.

DuncinToffee · 05/05/2022 09:16

Bloomberg's take
Tomorrow’s election in Northern Ireland could set off a profound shift in the EU’s post-Brexit fight with the U.K. Negotiations have been at a standstill as Brussels and London await the outcome of the vote. The long tussle over how to keep Northern Ireland’s trade flowing with Ireland after Brexit has played into Sinn Fein’s message and helped boost nationalist sentiment. Sinn Fein, whose ultimate goal is a united Ireland, led the pro-British Democratic Unionist Party in final polls ahead of the ballot for an assembly that gets to vote on key parts of the Northern Ireland Protocol issue in 2024. And having a Sinn Fein first minister would be a clear sign that Belfast is not following London’s preferred path.

DuncinToffee · 05/05/2022 09:19

Also

More Irish passports than British passports are being issued in Northern Ireland for the first time, new figures show.

48,555 people in Northern Ireland applied for a UK passport in 2020 – around 350 fewer than the 48,911 opting for an Irish passport the same year.

Like the Trump threads, they'll slow down but not die.

ChiswickFlo · 05/05/2022 10:52

I think it's just that other than delaying the new customs checks for the 4th time not much is happening re: brexshit.

Ukraine, cost of living crisis, partygate, tory corruption...its a bit of a fuckfest tbh

Apropos of nothing...

Anyone seen any reporting on Edward and Sophies trip? I know the Grenada leg got cancelled...I've seen nothing. Not a sausage.

Yes, I got my GHIC a few days ago. I see that 'global' encompasses the EU and Switzerland. Didn't the old EHIC also include the EEA countries?

But still, Johnson's Tories have shown us that their knowledge of geography is dismal.

ChiswickFlo · 05/05/2022 13:56

Just utterly pointless

I imagine a tory crony has cashed in though...

Grim times ahead

Bank of England puts up interest rates by 0.25% to 1%, and warns inflation could hit 10% by end of year, the highest since 1982.

The Bank also warns the economy is set to shrink next year putting the UK at real risk of recession.

ChiswickFlo · 05/05/2022 14:16

I don't think there is any doubt we are headed for recession.

Trouble is the BofE is usually quite late actually admitting that....

I hope these threads don’t dwindle away so I suppose I should start posting up to date links and coherent arguments. Unfortunately I’m lazy so this will be a push.
Yes NI vote will be v interesting.
