@jgw1 Good point about the holes in crochet, it would be more suited for a net. That explains it then. I've got a sudden urge to get some crochet out.

DuncinToffee · 17/01/2022 13:42

Those 'born in Carlisle Royal Navy' adds will be interesting

DM was a craft fiend. Knitting, embroidery, crochet, macrame, lace making. You name it, she had a book and could tell you the history. The world of entertainment lost a costume advisor when she passed - well it would have been her dream job.

My DFs sister used to do some sort of needlework too. This seemed to involve starting with a square of cloth and painstakingly removing threads to make a pattern. A quick google suggests it's called "pulled thread" embroidery. However DM was very dismissive. If she hadn't been so shit hot at things herself it would have seemed sour grapes.

Meanwhile, all is going well on the Brexshit front;

One in three UK business owners fear their company won’t exist anymore in a year as Brexit onslaught intensifies

The proposed Policing Bill reaching it's final stages in Parliament seems to have gone under the radar with party gate.

And yet only 40% of the Tory party think Boris should go. Which makes me wonder if they've been infiltrated by the enemy ....
Brindle88 · 17/01/2022 18:24

Makes me wonder what Boris has on some of his own MPs. Why haven’t they given him the boot yet?

DuncinToffee · 17/01/2022 18:35

Or they know they won't be getting in the cabinet again, especially the '2019 red wall' ones. Johnson's yes men/women.

Have you met many Tory MPs, to call them not the sharpest tools in the box, is on offense to blunt tools.
Jason118 · 17/01/2022 20:26

What's the end game likely to be for the Conservatives if Mr Johnson does go? I can't see them changing tack on Brexit, policing, welfare, the NHS, or anything else. So what's the point? It's just deckchair rearranging hopefully on the Titanic. Unless party members suddenly have a collective road to Damascus moment, anyone left of centre would prefer this nonsense to carry on until the next election. The problem with that is, will the country cope and how many people will (are already) be shafted?

Nadine kicked out of a Tory Whatsapp group for too much slavish Boris hero worshiping Dorries is leading the pack currently.

I got a nice e mail back from my MP. He was a new MP in 2019, he assures me he has told the PM how angry he is and how angry his constituents are. I hope the PM takes note.

Peregrina · 17/01/2022 22:14

I strongly suspect that he wants to spend more than one term as an MP too.

AuldAlliance · 17/01/2022 22:25

"Partying and his blatant contempt for voters mark the beginning of the end of his garish reign. But his worst lie is his cake and eat it Brexit. Democracy will need all its assets to escape the impasse this illusionist has led to."

That is all very well and good, but other than some words, what has he actually done. Has he publicly distanced himself from the Prime Minister as a few MPs have. If not he in my view is just as guilty has propping up the rotten corrupt edifice as the rest of them.

Who wants to take over with inflation high, energy/tax rises coming our way and most likely, poor results in the May elections?

I suspect (unless concrete evidence comes out against Bojo) he will soldier on until the summer but with a GE in the next 2.5 years (surely they wouldn't go for a Dec one?) they need to act this year or not at all.

Why they keep denying is a mystery to me, listening to Raab pretending nothing happened & that Bojo thought he was attending a work event, just makes people even more angry.
