As I understand it the members of the Tory party think it is an amusing game to find a leader worse than the previous one and see if the public will still vote for the

Didn't Raab get the extra "a" in his name after a bet by his staffers that they could sneak it onto a sign somewhere and he wouldn't notice ?

DrBlackbird · 31/10/2021 12:26

vera99 looks like a new thread will be needed soon…

Brexit is the gift that keeps on giving with these trade and custom tiffs. And they’ll keep going on and on…endlessly, year after year.

This is actually what the Tories were aiming for all along, wasn’t it? That they knew Brexit could never be done but that wasn’t the point.

Forever ad nauseam they can now blame the nasty EU for any litany of UK woes as a wonderful distraction and diversion from their own incompetence.

And the voting public, primed by MSM, will happily go along with the narrative secure in the UK’s god given sovereign right to screw itself economically.

Oh dear.

So a rerun of 1973-2016 then ?

Is Boris' hair something to do with a similar bet?

#JohnsonOut is trending

At the gym I watched the G20 summit with Joe Biden and Ursula von der Leyen speaking about the just-agreed trade agreements involving steel, aluminium and various other things. It was a top notch lovefest, emphasising over and over again the strength and depth of the relationship between the USA and the EU. Dearie me, what a position to be in - out of the EU and pissing off the Irish American President with our antics on NI. Goodness knows how we’ll row back from where we are now.

Boris Johnson arrives at a COP26, in his own country, by private jumbo jet, ready to tackle other leaders on emissions...

I suspect the only way to drown out the utter failure that COP26 has already turned out to be might be a royal funeral. And at this stage of the game, any of them might do, for various reasons.

(Awaits banhammer).

Just been trying to source a component for DS laptop. In theory it should be readily available. In practice it's a good exercise in whistling. A couple of sellers have mentioned that because they hold no stock, they relied on a network of smaller dealers in the EU. That's now gone, so the market decision is the unavailability in the UK.

I'm reminded of our NDN in the 1970s who was very sneery at DFs "foreign cars" until his Austin was off the road for 3 months because of strikes at Lucas then Rover then Lucas.

wewereliars · 31/10/2021 16:33

But Johnson seemed to want COP to fail, all the talk about how hard it was going to be etc etc and I didn't understand why. Was he just getting his excuses in early?

Ffs you couldn’t make it up. Facepalm emoji.

Vera99 hasn’t been seen for a couple weeks now so maybe one of you regulars could do the honours if she doesn’t appear?

Which also saves a few hundred quid.

If environmentalists had any savvy, they'd have arranged a Jarrow style march from London to arrive at Glasgow for the opening, passing through major towns and cities on the way. You know - walk on the roads rather than gluing themselves to them.

Some of his fans will be entirely charmed by this.

The loose sequel to "This Is Spinal Tap" was called "A Mighty Wind" ....

They have.

But marches, however large tend to get ignored, hence the need to glue oneself to a road.
