Happy New Year and Happy Brexit Day!

yellowspanner · 01/01/2021 09:18

Happy New Year Almers, with special thanks to Brandy for reopening and for the memes

Comradesally · 01/01/2021 09:24

Yes special thanks to our wonderful landlady.

LurkingLeaver · 01/01/2021 09:35

Loving the calm footage at Calais. The way Brexit was talked up, I thought we would have disastrous scenes of chaos??

TheHateIsNotGood · 01/01/2021 10:19

A Happy New Year and Brexit Day to All and many thanks to Brandy for opening the place up again.

bellinisurge · 01/01/2021 10:36

It's calm because no one's there. Let's hope trade is a bit more vibrant when it actually gets going. That's when you'll see how it really works.

Kendodd · 01/01/2021 10:41

I'm sure Putin is raising a huge glass and thanking you lot from the bottom of his heart today. Things couldn't look better from Moscow.

Kendodd · 01/01/2021 10:43

Actually one good thing, that really does deserve celebrating, thank fuck they put the border down the Irish sea and not on the island of Ireland. Peace above all else.

bellinisurge · 01/01/2021 11:09

It's so calm and quiet that your PM barely even mentioned in in his New Year address to us.
Sh!

Whythesadface · 01/01/2021 11:39

Happy New Year.

LurkingLeaver · 01/01/2021 11:44

He's your PM too, Bellini. 😂

bellinisurge · 01/01/2021 11:48

Not for longWink

Andante57 · 01/01/2021 12:04

Bellini are you moving abroad?

bellinisurge · 01/01/2021 12:13

Why would I? I lived and worked abroad for half my adult life. Nope, staying here. With my Irish passport. My dd now has an Irish passport too. She can go and live and work wherever the heck she wants when she's old enough. Or stay here. Her choice.
She still has easy options that other kids her age don't have.

Andante57 · 01/01/2021 12:14

Oh ok, I wasn’t sure if you meant Boris wouldn’t be PM for long because he’ll be voted out or because you were moving abroad.

bellinisurge · 01/01/2021 12:16

He won't be PM for long because he'll either scarper or get chased out by his party.
He's done his job . He's not needed. He certainly isn't a unifying figure that this country needs.

Otellie · 01/01/2021 12:22

And who do you think should take his place Bellinisurge?

bellinisurge · 01/01/2021 12:24

Not my circus. But he's a gonner. He's done his job.

bellinisurge · 01/01/2021 12:25

He's chased out all the decent ones - even if I don't like their politics. They were grown ups.

Otellie · 01/01/2021 12:25

Who were the decent ones?

vera99 · 01/01/2021 12:29

Good our PM and his cabal spent valuable time this year on the fool's errand that is Brexit as our hospitals are collapsing in a global pandemic. World-beating my arse.

lest we forget .....to know him is to loathe him. Happy New Year !

For many of us, his elevation will signal Britain’s abandonment of any claim to be a serious country. It can be claimed that few people realised what a poor prime minister Theresa May would prove until they saw her in Downing Street. With Boris, however, what you see now is almost assuredly what we shall get from him as ruler of Britain.

Whythesadface · 01/01/2021 12:29

Boris is a figurehead.
I bet he wished he was as powerful as your suggesting .
He isn't a dictator, he was voted in and works with many people to formulate policy.

TheHateIsNotGood · 01/01/2021 12:31

I'm sure BJ will quite happily resign soon, because he wants to. He'll probably have to delay it a bit due to various CV19 priorities that really don't need some kind of leadership race right now.

Personally, I don't much care and see it as a non-issue really.

How I miss Theresa now who would have got a better deal and a year it more ago without backstabbing Boris and chums shafting her. She would have run a tight cabinet and a better pandemic response. but never mind fellow female Brexiteers - Blondes have more fun and what a ride we are having!
