I'm so glad to have discovered the Brexit board a few years ago. I've been lurking here for a while but never posted. My cupboards and freezers are now full. I have enough to last us a few weeks of eating reasonably well and then more "interesting" meals but not as stocked up as many of you. There have been many years in my family's life though where this would not have been possible due to financial constraints. I feel so sorry right now for those people who haven't been able to stock up.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 22/12/2020 00:08

De-lurking to say that Who Gives A Crap are still accepting new subscribers, should anyone wish to have their toilet roll delivered Grin - they were so busy during the first lockdown that they actually closed off their subscription list!

Thank you to everyone for the helpful ideas, by the way. I have most things that we need, plus an Iceland delivery due before Friday, however I do need to buy one forgotten present... some treats for our neighbour's dog that the DC adore Confused hoping I don't have to queue too long at the supermarket to get them!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 22/12/2020 11:38

My Sainsbury's delivery had everything in it this morning. I also collected my buffet food from store and it was well-stocked. Maybe nobody is concerned?!

Who gives a crap are great!
Great news @ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy

BlackeyedSusan · 22/12/2020 15:31

I am more or less sorted for toilet roll. Most of it has been hidden away for two years. Topped up over the summer.

Glad to see the Sainsbury's order was ok.

Picked up extra brussel sprouts from Nisa today. Love brussels. My last lot from the supermarket were the size of mini cabbages though.

MarshmallowManiac · 22/12/2020 17:15

Good to hear your order did not have any subs Fluffy

Same as mine Blackeyed just buy one each week and it slowly mounts up. Fry mine in the pan with bacon & garlic. Smile

Whenwillow · 22/12/2020 18:34

Just seen tesco are rationing loo roll, eggs, rice and soap. Am delighted to have enough of all these things.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/12/2020 02:58

It is good they are rationing. More to go round for those that need it.

Dontlickthetrolley · 23/12/2020 07:45

I've done OK with Sainsburys, no soup, no orange juice cartons (which I only ordered for extra nectar points!) and no yule log 😭 and substitutes for part baked rolls, croissants and camembert.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 23/12/2020 10:40

I get quite irrationally annoyed when one of my bonus points items is missing, Dontlick (my phone has you in its dictionary now! Xmas Grin ).

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 23/12/2020 14:47

Me too, it's more irritating to lose the bonus points than not buy the product. 😹

BlackeyedSusan · 23/12/2020 14:54

The bonus points are probably why it is out of stock. Annoyingly.

Only three things missing from Asda order. Was expecting more missing. Which is a bit of a problem fridge wise.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 23/12/2020 15:11

Big tea tonight then?

BlackeyedSusan · 24/12/2020 01:45

salad. takes up a lot of room. ex has put the spare veg in the car. I thought it was all done. then found a bag with another pack of fruit in.

have started the christmas food though. no point leaving it in the fridge until boxing day then having to eat it in two fewer days. we are away for Christmas.

FestiveFannyGallops · 24/12/2020 12:17

I really need to sort the pantry out after Christmas. Batteries arrived yesterday as I'd forgotten those. I'll have to read back through the thread but hope everyone is doing ok.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 24/12/2020 12:34

how's the flamingo? Xmas Grin

FestiveFannyGallops · 24/12/2020 12:55

It's flying in full festive style

BlackeyedSusan · 24/12/2020 12:57

Ahhhh flamingo. Got you now.

Nice to see you.

Opening the fridge is a bit of a risk today. You never know what may chuck itself at your head.

I have yesterday's shopping all up the stairs waiting to be put away.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 24/12/2020 13:12

Can I just add that dropping a block of butter on your bare toes makes them go a bit purple...

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 24/12/2020 16:28

Well, assuming the deal gets through both sides, I don't need to buy bog roll for some time! 😂

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 24/12/2020 17:28

Ouch poor toes. Hope they don't hurt too much.

Well, we escaped no deal. Let's hope the deal works reasonably well. Can't wait to have space back.

FestiveFannyGallops · 24/12/2020 20:14

Ouch!
I feel such relief. It might not be a great deal, I've not seen any details yet but thank the lord it's not no deal.

Whenwillow · 25/12/2020 09:48

Merry Christmas everyone! Massive No Deal relief here, but still so grateful to have my stash. Those in the know still seem to be warning of price hikes, problems at borders and continued uncertainty, so it's good to feel reasonably secure at home.
Really hoping for simply a cheap shopping year and will also donate bits regularly to foodbank. Have had previous food poverty of my own and would have been a food bank user at one time, so it continues to be my charity of choice.

FestiveFannyGallops · 27/12/2020 12:47

At what point do you think it will be safe to start eating the stash and not worry? I will always keep a good supply in now but not to the extent I have already stashed.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/12/2020 14:03

I'm going to see what happens in the first few weeks of the year and then assess.
