I thought I'd read somewhere the April deadline had been kicked down the alley, September or December???

Scarletunderkill · 21/04/2021 21:24

Oh man, they are playing with us, aren’t they? Ok, I’ll run down my stash of tinned tomatoes!

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2021 21:33

I think that's a different deadline, Dontlick. That's something to do with checks on goods being imported, potentially. Maybe!

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2021 21:35

Oh yes, it's deferred.

It's just a shit show!

BlackeyedSusan · 22/04/2021 12:20

UK unilaterally deferred from April/ July to Sept/Dec

EU have looked at taking enforcement action.

In other words, I am still keeping the stash rotating until at least the end of December.

Again.

Arse.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/04/2021 12:39

They deferred the deadline for the terms of import / export (which is the deadline I meant when I talked about the 'different' deadline). But they can't defer ratification, as that's the EU vote. Which has also been deferred (due to us breaking the agreement).

Scarletunderkill · 22/04/2021 13:48

Oh blimey. Thanks PPs. Time to buy more tinned tomatoes and olives.

TheHateIsNotGood · 23/04/2021 22:06

Marmite supplies will pick up once lockdown eases and more beer is drunk and made. Think I might grow some tomatoes under a bit of protection this year to try and get a better fresh crop, jic.

BlackeyedSusan · 24/04/2021 09:51

Well, I am going to have trouble with getting shopping...the shopping trolley design I can use is unavailable in my local supermarket...they are stuck on the continent. Back to deliveries from Morrisons instead.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/04/2021 15:00

That's not very helpful! Which supermarket / trolley?

I don't go to the supermarket for the main shop generally as it's time I'd rather not spend in there! (Plus our Sainsbury's is tiny and doesn't have a massive range of stock.)

WeeDonkey · 28/04/2021 09:02

The deal has been backed by the European Parliament. Phew.

Scarletunderkill · 28/04/2021 10:44

Can I wind down my stash now?

BlodwinTheThird · 29/04/2021 14:16

www.cbi.org.uk/uk-transition-hub/importing-goods-from-the-eu/

I think this is up to date. April deadline postponed to October; July deadline postponed to January.

If it’s been delayed once, presumably it would be delayed again if not doing so would mean empty supermarket shelves?

Unless the EU take legal action? Which would take time? And would the U.K. government abide by any decision anyway??? 🤷‍♀️

I have been so grateful for my 'brexit stash' over the last couple of years. These threads have been so helpful, so thanks to all the posters.

With new regulations due to come in on January 1st, has anyone any thoughts on what I should particularly focus on popping in my last shopping trolley of the year?
