I have potatoes chitting and have spread two bags of manure on this year's potato bed - but need to get my broad beans sown in their loo rolls in the green house, reading for planting out later.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/02/2021 21:47

I have potatoes chitting too. I need more egg boxes!

We have a massive pile of manure which has been dropped at our allotment. That's next weekend's job for me!

prettybird · 08/02/2021 00:04

I had to buy mine from Dobbies Sad

prettybird · 08/02/2021 00:14

Probably spent more on the manure than I would ever have paid for the potatoes that I pulled from the bed Hmm (I did get a fabulous crop last year) - but I suppose in terms of the rotation, I'm enriching that raised bed.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/02/2021 08:45

I've generally bought from Dobbies as the people who drop manure at the allotment never get round to our plots. The last time I had some given to me was July 2018!

If it's dry enough next weekend I'll dig my potato trenches and line them with the manure before it all gets used by other people.

Thank you for the info @Clavinova! I presumed that as the address on the antibiotics box is in the UK that the product was manufactured there, but the UK company must only be the distributor...? It'll be a real pain if I can't get any more though, there aren't many antibiotics I'm not allergic to Sad and the first course doesn't seem to have quite cleared up my eye infection... sigh.

How are your potatoes doing @prettybird? I keep trying to grow rosemary @NoWordForFluffy but do not have the knack Sad

Clavinova · 14/02/2021 15:04

Yes, probably just the distributor, although if the product is manufactured here, we may have the same problem as India obtaining the raw materials from China. Wish you good luck in any case.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl - potatoes are chitting nicely in the south facing hall/stairway window.

Gratuitous picture of bookend cats looking cute with said potatoes behind them Wink

I've got potatoes chitting everywhere, it feels like! I need more egg boxes to put the rest out. The ones in the under stairs cupboard are going great guns.

indignatio · 16/02/2021 20:12

I think mine are grumpy about being in the shed. I have lots of egg boxes, so that isn't their complaint.
Sweet peas in the shed are happy
Ceanothus seedlings are having a strop

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 16/02/2021 23:25

Thank you for the info @Clavinova! I haven't been offered my COVID vaccine yet but will have to check my allergies with the GP when I do. Luckily(?!) the allergies are to medication rather than food - I don't need to carry an epipen or anything - but apparently I may need to avoid the Pfizer vaccine.

@prettybird lovely photo!

I was really hoping to plan and make the most of my garden this year - fruit, veg, flowers, everything - but lockdown + homeschooling = plans destroyed and my brain completely frazzled

BlackeyedSusan · 07/03/2021 13:47

price of "good for you sprouts" has gone up from 50p to £1.20 at Morrisons. which is annoying as it is what I used to put protein into dd's meals in an emergency.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/03/2021 13:50

That's a massive jump up.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/03/2021 13:57

I will just have to open one of these damned tins...

anyone want to take a guess at what is around my feet getting sorted out?

NoWordForFluffy · 07/03/2021 14:40

Oh...have you had to take them all out? I did that the other week. DD's room resembled a corner shop for a while.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/03/2021 22:12

just the ones under dd's chair. resorted, I have 15 tins too many for the space. Hmm

BlackeyedSusan · 11/03/2021 19:46

I had to take them out as I needed to fit in the ones I pulled out from the cupboard that needed to be used this year, which were replaced with 18 tins of beans.

Good news/ bad news the first of April/July deadlines have been moved to October/January.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/03/2021 09:41

Lots of cheese out of stock on Morrisons website. Has been for a week or two, especially grated and some of their cheaper cheese.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/03/2021 10:00

I find Morrison's to be quite poor for stock generally. I wonder if that's a specific issue though?

Dontlickthetrolley · 14/03/2021 17:35

I've struggled with Mozerella at Morrisons recently, offers on the website but no space for any Mozerella in store

NoWordForFluffy · 16/03/2021 06:31

Single red and orange peppers are being a challenge from Sainsbury's this week.

indignatio · 16/03/2021 18:37

Salad crisp sweetcorn has been missing for a year now. Anyone know why?

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 16/03/2021 22:03

My DC love corn on the cob @indignatio and I struggle getting that sometimes too (mainly from Tesco though) - I often buy the frozen mini ones from Iceland which is easier!

Must go through my stores whilst the DC are off school. I'm sure there's plenty I could be using up and/ or giving to the food bank rather than buying more...

Dontlickthetrolley · 16/03/2021 22:04

I returned a red pepper to Sainsbury from my click and collect, not sure where it had been but looked like it had been left in the corner when someone had taken artex off a ceiling and replastered! The layer of white "stuff" on the top and the crack down it meant it got rejected!!!

NoWordForFluffy · 16/03/2021 23:12

That was their only red pepper, Dontlick! You could've got a good resale price on the black market! 🤣🤣
