Got 1 substitution from Morrisons. Got substituted courgettes for even more courgettes. Ordinary for wonky. Would normally buy wonky but not been able to so a bit odd.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/01/2021 08:18

Only subs for me from Sainsbury's were a box of Lindt (for dad's birthday. It was the third bloody attempt; they keep either squashing the box or subbing the damn things) and sandwich ham. So not too bad really.

We get easy peelers / satsumas, apples, grapes, bananas and cucumbers. They were all present and correct. As were leeks, broccoli and Brussels.

BlackeyedSusan · 26/01/2021 12:15

having trouble ordering shreddies from Morrisons. if only I had a box or four lying about the flat?

MarshmallowManiac · 26/01/2021 12:43

Blackeyed hahahahahaha Grin

AdoraBell · 26/01/2021 15:48

🤣 BlackeyedSusan

Only substitute on my delivery yesterday was white chocolate, they sent a brand instead of own brand.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 29/01/2021 23:06

Still no food bags in Poundland or Tesco here Sad

Food stocks are quite good apart from (of course!) the particular chicken nuggets my DS likes. Pah. On the bright side there's plenty of his beloved cream crackers...

NoWordForFluffy · 30/01/2021 09:25

Sainsbury's had all sizes of freezer bags last night, so I got some medium ones to top up the supply! They're not available online though.

In fact, Sainsbury's have a few things which aren't online (picked from a large store) but which are available in our local store (which really isn't much bigger than a Local), such as their cheaper chopped tomatoes and kidney beans.

We're definitely still on stock rotation here, rather than just using up. I can't even bring myself to use the Brexit bog roll. 🤣🤣

Dontlickthetrolley · 30/01/2021 10:37

My final 2 rolls have made their way to the bathroom that were bought in 2019 🤣 however I wrapped one up for my mum's 70th last March and she's said she's never going to open it and going to hide it so could be another 20 years before that one gets used 🤣

NoWordForFluffy · 30/01/2021 10:50

Mine are from September 2019! I got a Groupon deal on 120 rolls and they've been gathering dust since!

BlackeyedSusan · 31/01/2021 13:08

i am getting twitchy about loo rolls. we still have plenty. It's just that we are getting to the endo of one of the visible packs. one pack in storage has been there for over ten years. was a running away fund pack of bog roll. (hence knowing longer than ten years)

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 01/02/2021 22:17

We have plenty of loo rolls as I took out a subscription!! There's usually plenty in the supermarkets now though when I visit! Which reminds me, must plan a Lidl/ Aldi trip for next week...

BlackeyedSusan · 02/02/2021 00:48

Morrisons, some of our regular stuff was not available: the stir fry stuff again, this time the sauce and rice noodles. Got substituted mushy peas for food bank. Sweetcorn (frozen) has gone up as well.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/02/2021 07:21

All present and correct from Sainsbury's today.

I don't think their sweetcorn has gone up, but it was dearer than everywhere else anyway, so possibly more wriggle room.

I'm still buying loo roll as we need it and haven't had any problems really.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/02/2021 11:11

Some things go up as they remove the cheap option and only leave you the bog standard choice.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/02/2021 12:01

Yes. You can't get the cheaper chopped tomatoes or kidney beans online. I buy them when I go in store instead. Which is a cynical ploy.

AdoraBell · 03/02/2021 22:15

You gave your Mum a loo roll for her birthday dontlickthetrolley ? That’s genius 🤣

There’s a shop near me that has freezer bags. One of those odd bits shops, kind of like a pound shop. Luckily this week the supermarket had everything I ordered.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 05/02/2021 21:34

Not food-related but I've been trying to get medication for an eye infection and none of the pharmacies around us have any Confused DP has been driving round and at last got half the amount I need with the promise of the rest to follow later...!

It's quite a common antibiotic (erythromycin) so I'm not sure why there's so little stock around?!

NoWordForFluffy · 05/02/2021 21:51

That's odd, Clara. I've had an eye infection too, and not had any issue getting what I needed.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 06/02/2021 21:18

A few places had the eye ointment I needed @NoWordForFluffy but we just couldn't find the antibiotics nearby! The pharmacy we eventually got them from still owe me 4 as they didn't have enough. Our usual pharmacy had none and said they didn't know when they'd be getting any either Sad

As I say it's quite a common antibiotic (and the only one I can have due to various allergies), no idea why it's so hard to find!

I went to Asda today - only a quick visit for bread and milk - it was packed Shock

BlackeyedSusan · 07/02/2021 02:40

Snow buying

prettybird · 07/02/2021 08:56

Couldn't buy rosemary on Friday - our of stock in all the local supermarkets (their herb shelves looked really empty).

Fortunately a friend has a large rosemary bush Smile. My own wee plants can't take any more being cut from them; used the last few needles from them mid weekSad - making potato wedges because Lidl had been out of stock of frozen chips Shock

BlackeyedSusan · 07/02/2021 09:55

Goodness. Refugee camp with no rosemary. The ones I planted in mums garden are taking over. I could have sent you a whole branch...except I can't get to mums garden in lockdown.

prettybird · 07/02/2021 15:30

Once I can get to the garden centre and/or the weather gets warmer, I'm going to be buying a whole load of rosemary plants and/or taking a load of soft wood cuttings from my friend's bush. That way maybe at least one or two will get large enough to cope with multiple pickings.

I'm also going to get dh to build me a raised herb bed beside the steps going up to the upper flat area. Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 07/02/2021 18:46

I have a teeny rosemary in the greenhouse which should fire up a bit once the weather improves. The one in the garden is OK, but has seen better days really. It'll last while the new one grows!

I have an almost-full size lemon too. I'm very excited about it going yellow finally. They weren't wrong about it taking 9 months.

I sowed my first couple of trays of seeds today to get ahead of the curve a bit. My over-wintered broad beans are ready to go out, but my plot is too wet as it stands. They'll have to wait a week or so.

Fingers crossed for a good harvest this year. I think I'm going to need it!

Clavinova · 07/02/2021 19:37

Listed here;

March 2020 - The coronavirus outbreak has led India to restrict the export of dozens of drugs...

The restricted drugs include paracetamol, antibiotics such as tinidazole and erythromycin...

India is one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of drugs, with the US and Europe heavily reliant on the supply.

“If coronavirus goes on much longer, there will definitely be an impact on Indian plants and then 100% there will be a shortage of these medicines across the world."
