Today is the last scheduled day for talks with the EU.

We have til 30th June to ask for a transition extension. We won't.

That leaves us starring down the barrel of a no deal exit, when we still could be in a covid-19 crisis and the US may be in turmoil given recent events and the coming election...

It's not a pretty picture.

I definitely agree that we won't.

All I want is a room somewhere
Far away from the cold night air
With one enormous chair
Oh wouldn't it be lovely !

Beats a PMK !

Marvellous piece of Beebtwattery this morning, with shots of rows and rows of freshly dug graves, the sombre headline that Brazil has now passed Italy and has the third-highest death toll (emphasis, followed by sotto voce) behind the United States and (even sottoer) The UK.

Peregrina · 05/06/2020 10:55

Spot the link between the high death tolls and the Governments of the USA, UK and Brazil.

Thanks, red 💐

BJ has doubled down on clusterfucks: Brexit and COVID

Peregrina · 05/06/2020 11:07

I expect that more people are cremated these days DGR.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 05/06/2020 11:08

Maybe all the fridges are full of bodies now, so nowhere for BJ to hide?

KenDodd · 05/06/2020 11:12

I think a NDB is what they want.
The thing that astonishes me is that brexit voters are getting none of the things they were promised Brexit would deliver, why do they still support it? Even the racists aren't getting what they wanted, in fact the very opposite is what they're getting.

QueenOfThorns · 05/06/2020 11:13

Thanks RTB.

Slow accumulation of a bog roll mountain is already beginning. I was caught out by the Covid-19 crisis, having been in the middle of getting through last year’s Brexit stocks before planning to build them up again towards the end of the year. Now, I have learnt my lesson and will NEVER let my larder get that low ever again.

I’ve also been looking at winter veg - Sutton’s has a mixed set of plug plants that’s designed to go into greenhouses/tunnels once the tomatoes and things are over (kale, caulis, cabbage etc), so I’ll be getting some of those!

The shite they read gives them a new enemy every week, and dont forget Brexit has already happened, they dont see further than that and are probably back to the mantra of 'oh I dont do politics theyre all the same' Or theyre trying to spout the 'All Lives Matter' bullshit narrative and that protesters equate to looters Hmm

big pharma rejected EU plan to fast-track vaccines in 2017

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/25/exclusive-big-pharma-rejected-eu-plan-to-fast-track-vaccines-in-2017

The world’s largest pharmaceutical companies rejected an EU proposal three years ago to work on fast-tracking vaccines for pathogens like coronavirus to allow them to be developed before an outbreak,

Catholic countries bury their dead (Italy, Spain, Brazil...)

Secular countries (UK) tend to cremate theirs.

RedToothBrush · 05/06/2020 11:31

Jim Waterson @jimwaterson
Tim Davie is new BBC director general... long term executive who has been running the commercial side of the organisation and doesn’t have a background in journalism unlike recent BBC chiefs. Going to be interesting.

Thanks to all, as ever.
PMK with a (very distant) view of the Sainte-Victoire that Cézanne didn't paint.
No cat photos as her coat still hasn't recovered from last weekend's Great Escape, apparently to someone's oil-besmattered garage. Very relieved we found her...

One of the cats chilling out in the late afternoon sun in the essential No-Deal Brexit greenhouse Smile

As far as the Brexiters are concerned, Brexit has already happened (after all, BJ "got Brexit done" Hmm) so any and all inconveniences, shortages and problems after 31 December will be the EU's fault Confused - and where they can't twist their reasoning to blame the EU because they'd refused us everlasting cake , it will be CV's fault and absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Brexit SadAngryConfused

At least we now have a heads up on things to stockpile.

whatever happened to that 6,000,000+ signature petition last year. The one that represented not 1 in 10 voters, but 1 in 10 people ?

When you remember, tell me again what the point of a petition is ? Or a march ?

No, me neither.

prettybird · 05/06/2020 11:46

Indeed. I'm going to be getting two 16kg sacks of bread flour Grin

....plus loads more plain and self-raising flour than I thought I needed Shock

I have at least now perfected my sourdough bread Wink
