A new thread as the other one is getting full. I'm enjoying the post election discussion. Every view is listened to and welcomed.

Brexit is happening, but what kind of Brexit will it be?

New leaderships for both Labour and the LibDems.

Most importantly, will Britain be Great in 2024?

I've joined a political party today for the first time in my life, in order to get a vote in the Labour leadership election.

£2 a month concessions and trade unionists.

I don't honestly see what else I can do. I ticked the 'get Tories out' box.

On other matters agree that we will now see things happening v quickly re democratic institutions, civil service and freedom of speech.

They signalled bbc immediately with an attack carried on the Today prog on Friday, and today a co SPAD of Cummings' from D of E days was similarly threatening the Civil Service. I have no reason to disbelieve either.

What an appalling time to be alive. Please, let's cleave together. What's done is done. Some saw it coming and voted least worst as they saw it. Others voted against their interests for the greater good, others tactically, and others genuinely believed a better result was there for the taking. There is more to unite than divide us.

Huge respect and all good wishes to @squid4.

Exactly Listening

derxa · 16/12/2019 18:46

It is certainly a sad state of affairs when someone who comes from a working-class background and works their way up to become Director of Public Prosecutions is seen as inappropriate to lead the Labour Party for being part of an "elite". Jesus wept. Exactly

Torchlightt · 16/12/2019 18:47

Yes, someone in Labour was saying that there's no rush to appoint a new leader, as just after an election. They seem to have forgotten that their job is to be an effective opposition, not just to fight elections.

Grinchly · 16/12/2019 18:49

And exactly to that derxa too.
It just encapsulates the problem

Torchlightt · 16/12/2019 18:49

Does anyone know what BJ is planning to keep Scotland in the UK? Apparently he's up to something.

Alsohuman · 16/12/2019 18:50

Yes, it is a sad state of affairs. Unfortunately it’s the reality. Sir Keir Starmer would have no credibility with call centre workers in the north east on minimum wage. And the msm would give his full title every single time they mentioned him. Just like Lady Nugee.

Bearbehind · 16/12/2019 18:54

Yet Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson seems to have managed it 🤔

Yes an onside media platform will make any old shit acceptable

BeardedMum · 16/12/2019 18:57

And boy next door Rees-Mogg🤷🏻‍♀️

Alsohuman · 16/12/2019 18:58

He hasn’t got a title and they all think his name is Boris.

CrissmussMockers · 16/12/2019 18:58

So he'll need a by 'eck It's grim oop north deputy.

Starmer-Nandy the dream ticket.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 16/12/2019 18:59

Starmer-Nandy the dream ticket.

Thought you wanted to bring both wings together, that duo will not do it

Bearbehind · 16/12/2019 19:00

Yes an onside media platform will make any old shit acceptable

just at some point you are going to have to admit to yourself that your side fucked this right up and needs to do something different

You tried the ‘slag off all Tories and everything they’ve ever said or done’ - it didn’t work

Isn’t there a saying about the definition of stupidity being doing the same thing over and over again and expecting to get a different result?

CrissmussMockers · 16/12/2019 19:01

I'm in the Alan Johnson camp.

I want Momentum to fuck off back to their Islington dinner parties and stay there.

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 19:02

It’s more a lack of charisma that worries me re Starmer. Although I’ve not seen him on the tele so can’t judge.

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 19:02

I want him to be good though cis the rest I find very uninspiring

MarshaBradyo · 16/12/2019 19:03

Cos!! Bloody hell I typed a word I hate

borntobequiet · 16/12/2019 19:03

Aha the statistically challenged Nicky Morgan. What is it with Tory Education Secs? She was on HIGNFY the other night, being very unfunny. The Lords have nothing to look forward to.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 16/12/2019 19:04

Youre so right Bear how did I not see it before its like a shadow has fallen from my eyes.

CrissmussMockers · 16/12/2019 19:05

Finding NiMo on a comfy red bench.

Lucygoeswalkies · 16/12/2019 19:05

^During the next three months
the Tories will be pushing through a hard Brexit
dismantling Whitehall departments
making judicial appointments political
breaking the BBC charter
all without any functioning opposition^

Quite. Pretty much summed up by my second sentence.

chatongris · 16/12/2019 19:05

I think Starmer would be very good at holding the government to account in so far as this is still possible. And that's a job that really needs to be done.

Lucygoeswalkies · 16/12/2019 19:06

Sorry - italics fail.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 16/12/2019 19:06
