Thanks Placemats
Just chipping in with tuppence worth from other thread:
Placemats* You are, sadly, dreaming if you think doorstep conversations have shone the light of reality in Momentum activists.
No.
AlsoHuman The 'because Brexit' narrative you're hearing is from the Milne/Murphy camp.
The full song is: 'Corbynism failed at the polls because Blairite Remainers undermines the project with their cunning Second Referendum plan.
We must purge them.'
Just Cendrillon is right about the Momentum membership.
I'm sorry but the electorate have just delivered the biggest 'No' in 80 years.
So long as Labour keeps on that path, Labour is, effectively, dead.
Of course, to young Momentum members, that probably isn't a problem. They can tell themselves that demographics are on their side and, if they hold on 20 years, they have the world to win.
Unfortunately, there are those of us who kind of need a functioning Opposition right now.
Placemats There is something genuinely obscene about the Leaser who led to such a comprehensive dismemberment if the progressive Parties (frankly, he did for the Lib Dems, too), the strategist in charge of a terrible, terrible campaign, and the lead comms and strategy guy keeping their extremely well-paid jobs when
- Labour staff are now redundant
- a load of MPs and their staff are redundant
- they fought a campaign based on how necessary a Labour win was for those on benefits and in low-paid employment.
I would add Diane Abbott to that list, too.
She shouted at MPs telling her the GE was a mistake.
She is still in situ, having used her influence to secure a well-paid job for her child.
Honestly.
It looks - no, it is - so bad.
It makes Labour a joke. It makes us look as though it's a Party filled with a privileged few for whom politics is just a game. A Party with an elite that use the very real problems people face as a way of manoeuvring to acquire position, prestige and income for themselves.
That is not a look Labour needs right now.
