Just checking in, have just unfollowed a lot of very unpleasant people on FB and watched the footage of the fascists outside parliament hope they get arrested

Pumperthepumper · 15/12/2019 09:18

Glad you're on board the Boris Train Pumper! 😍

I sure am! The 350 million to the NHS and the no trade deals with Trump is the bit I’m most looking forward to. He’s so amazing, being able to promise all of this and carry it through. When will we see that, do you think? February 1st?

Saucery · 15/12/2019 09:21

For sure, Pumper! Everything you said will happen. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

DustyDiamond · 15/12/2019 09:22

Wrt to next leader, the factions within are as blinkered as each other & as entrenched as each other in echo chambers.

So....

The far left, Corbynites:

  • Rebecca Wrong-Daily
(Pisses the majority of ordinary people off)

The middle class pro-EU gang:

  • Keir Starmer
(Pisses the majority of pro-Brexit people off)

The middle class 'Labour is working class, but they really need to do as we say coz we know best' gang:

  • Jess Philips
(She has a regional accent so the working class crowd will love her! - Nah, she pisses off everyone as well)

The sensible & pragmatic people who desperately want Labour to be a broad church but also to have a sniff of being accepted as a govt by the electorate:

  • Stephen Kinnock
(He 'gets it', he's pragmatic, he works cross faction & cross party, he's got good advisors in a personal capacity as well as officially)

Nicola Sturgeon telling Andrew Marr how democracy & ‘the will of the people’ must be respected. Funny how she only thinks that about Scotland.

SingingLily · 15/12/2019 09:22

Morning, Twattage, a perfect example. The civil servant in question was useless at everything but because it's so damn hard to sack the failures, they are either rewarded with a sideways move into a sinecure, or they are promoted and transferred to another department just to get rid. They are highly irritating to those of us who actually know how to do the job.

Morning, Dirty.

I know it often didn't go to 5 years but was there a cut off?

No sunset clause, Dusty. The FTPA (another shortsighted tactic from David "I can win this, I'm a winner" Cameron) is a permanent statute. Permanent until it's repealed by a further statute, that is. Don't worry. It's on the priority list. Expect it to be gone within the First Hundred Days Wink

DustyDiamond · 15/12/2019 09:26

Oh Pumper....
Are you mocking us?!

Le sigh 😔

I'd try & think of something consoling or something to say but it's not really in my nature to do that, soz 🤷🏻‍♀️

Glitterball 🕺

bellinisurge · 15/12/2019 09:27

Problem with Stephen Kinnock is that he brings the baggage of being a former Leader's son. His mum was an MP, his wife isn't British. Apparently that kind of thing counts.

bellinisurge · 15/12/2019 09:28

Mum was an MEP not MP. Soz. Poorly child at the mo. Nowt serious.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 15/12/2019 09:28

Yes dusty - I’ve already gone into ignore mode.

Pumperthepumper · 15/12/2019 09:28

Mocking you? Why would I be mocking you? I’m celebrating with you! All these glorious things we’ve been promised! Why would you think I was mocking you by looking forward to the 350 million to the NHS and no trade deals with Trump?

DustyDiamond · 15/12/2019 09:31

😟 lot of sickness around at the mo Bellini
Hope they're better soon 💐

It's so frustrating that they'll fuck it up, but they will 🙄

The suggestions on the previous thread were spot on but I doubt they'll ever happen

Morning everyone - wow, a lovely new thread! LOL at the Merry Brexit theme song and all the excellent memes Grin

I'm genuinely astonished at the bafflement in the Labour ranks, as in them failing to comprehend why on earth they did so badly. The ivory-tower mentality must be even bigger than I thought.

Lily that's brilliant news that Dmitri will be overhauling the Civil Service! Let's hope his new broom continues throughout the rest of the bloated public sector.

Out with friends yesterday, great to see so much relief and sheer delight at the result.

Pumperthepumper · 15/12/2019 09:40

I must say, I’m really surprised by this thread. I thought you would all be celebrating all these brilliant things we’re getting in February - all that money to the NHS, no trade deals with Trump, continued peace in NI without meddling with the GFA. Why is nobody talking about how brilliant the NHS is going to be post-brexit?

As I said, I wasn’t convinced by Brexit or Boris, I thought hiding in a fridge to avoid a journalist or refusing to be interviewed by Andrew Neil was a bit suspicious - but now I’ve had time to think about it, there are literally no downsides to Brexit or Boris. We’re all going to be so much better off, what with the 350 million to the NHS (per week was it?) yet none of you are celebrating that? Why?

AutumnRose1 · 15/12/2019 09:50

Morning all

Breakfast sounds fab.

InfiniteSheldon do you mean the footage from Friday night?

Re Civil Service reform, I recall Cameron promising to cut bureaucracy.

In my 20s I walked out of two temp jobs as I was so disgusted at what they were doing. One job was a massive project in “creating more paperwork to motivate nurses”. Their proposed plan was estimated to take up about 4 hours a week for the nurse, was based entirely on jargon and all this was headed by one local guy on £80k and two consultants from other parts of the country for whom they paid hotel and travel bills.

Obviously that was a long time ago so I hope it doesn’t happen any more.

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 15/12/2019 09:51

Limer I'm not surprised at all.

There's an astounding bloody mindedness.

Your not engaging with a fully functioning people. They've been taken over mentally!

(no one on here... Except maybe 1 or 2 well known socialists).

Just watching Andrew marr now... '' we must address... '' '' we must listen... ''

We heard it all before, after the referendum and they pretend to listen then totally turned tail and went back to normal.

DustyDiamond · 15/12/2019 10:00

I must say, I’m really surprised by this thread

That's because you're doing that thing that people do, where they use a lazy & reductive idea of what they think a certain group are thinking, and then apply that tedious representation in practice

It very boring & has been done to 💀

Nobody cares bro! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyhoo! I thought we needed a new glitterball, so made one!

Feel free to save to your devices & use when the opportunity knocks! 😍

Pumper you're aiming too low with £350Million per week for the NHS. If Dmitri's new broom starts sweeping away some of the dead wood in the public sector, we'll be saving a damn sight more than that. Fingers crossed, eh? Grin

RaiseaGlasstoFreedom · 15/12/2019 10:05

Grabbing something from the breakfast tray, thanks singing.

Excellent pic dusty Grin

I bet civil service are quaking in their boots.
I wonder if Cummings has the skills to turn the NHS around?
It shouldn't go private but it needs to be run on private principles.

Friend used to be a nurse she said working in private hospitals there was tight control over budgets, you wouldn't dream of
'' taking '' a biro...for example, in the NHS however, it's a free for all.
Out sourcing cleaners was another huge mistake. So many medical staff have said its a disaster and a reason why cleaning standards have plummeted but they can't do anything.

Cummings has such clarity of vision....

Anyway! Just seen Andrew marr and maybe I'm wrong and missed something but not a single Conservative on it?

Sturgeon, macdonnel... Someone else Labour...

Wow!!
I hope they go after the BBC as well

Re empires, one of reason I voted leave was because I saw the eu growing like an empire, and my thoughts were vindicated by guy de v.
So if its empires you want pumper, your in the wrong place Smile.

mindproject · 15/12/2019 10:05

At some point your little party has to end and reality will hit home. Good luck with your hangover.

Pumperthepumper · 15/12/2019 10:08

That's because you're doing that thing that people do, where they use a lazy & reductive idea of what they think a certain group are thinking, and then apply that tedious representation in practice

No I’m not, I’m celebrating the promises Boris Johnson made! Why aren’t you?

SingingLily · 15/12/2019 10:10

I have a little catching up to do on the thread but is anyone watching Sophy Ridge on Sky?

Caroline Flint has just said that Emily Thornberry "told me Thank God her constituents weren't as stupid as mine [for voting for Boris and Brexit]". 😱😱😱

Emily Thornberry can't, apparently, be reached for comment.

If anyone reading this lives in the Don Valley - I'm sorry that you lost Caroline Flint. I think she is a true democrat. However, you made a hard decision and you put your country and your belief in democracy first. Massive respect for that.
