I agree, Derxa. Caroline Flint was a Remainer but her constituency was majorly Leave. She had promised to represent her constituency and she clearly valued democracy so she put her personal views to one side and fought for her constituents. She is a woman of principle. I wish there were more like her - on both sides of the House.

If the HoL wasn't so bloated and debased and in such pressing need of pruning and reform, I would have suggested that Caroline be given a peerage and a specific brief on how to help revitalise the North.

I keep thinking of those northern seats turning blue, and what a hard decision that must have been for those voters who for generations have voted red. If they were in any doubt about whether they had done the right thing they only needed to look at the fracas in London on Friday night to realise they probably had. I think we will see a lot of Labour masks slipping over the next few days, again reaffirming for those newly blue seats.
