Keeping this short. This is the Brexit fall out thread.

The one where we might get another glimpse of what Brexit means.

I'll post an election special thread shortly with links to various times and important seats (I wont get it done before the other thread fills so this is also a stop gap but please try and use the election special thread for today's events instead of Westminstenders when it goes live)

100% agree with your post at tail end of last thread
This election is about dignity (and fear, its arch-enemy)
I hope Dignity holds the day

TiddleTaddleTat · 12/12/2019 08:05

Pmk

TheABC · 12/12/2019 08:08

It's the hope that kills you. Off to vote after the school run.

Once this election is over I am planning to focus on Christmas. Thankfully, Boris won't be hiding in my fridge.

WifeofDarth · 12/12/2019 08:08

Pmk. Thanks to all the regulars. Did not sleep well last night, knot in my stomach.

magimedi · 12/12/2019 08:12

PMK.

Pmk. The day has finally arrived.

Good title RTB

I never really swore before this debacle. But Clusterfuck remains the most concise and apposite definition.

Makiwa · 12/12/2019 08:28

As someone who can't vote (15 year rule) today, I just want to pop by to thank you all for your informative discussion, arguments, stories, cat photos and many, many links. Thank you for your reflection and humanity.

Whatever happens today I wish you all well.

bellinisurge · 12/12/2019 08:29

Very busy at our polling booth. Higher turnout than usual according to one of the officiators.

prettybird · 12/12/2019 08:39

Christmas decoration in cat's place and about to be pulled down and dragged around the house Xmas Shock

Will be going out to vote shortly and then seeing what help is needed in getting the (SNP) vote out.

I can't stop thinking of this poem and crying because it seems such a faint dream;

Sometimes things don't go, after all,
from bad to worse. Some years, muscadel
faces down frost; green thrives; the crops don't fail,
sometimes a man aims high, and all goes well.

A people sometimes will step back from war;
elect an honest man, decide they care
enough, that they can't leave some stranger poor.
Some men become what they were born for.

Sometimes our best efforts do not go
amiss, sometimes we do as we meant to.
The sun will sometimes melt a field of sorrow
that seemed hard frozen: may it happen for you.

Feeling a bit sick, but going out to vote soon, then do telling stints, then to the Count this evening. So a long long day for me. My presence at the Count in the past has always led to a successful result for my party, so fingers crossed that the luck holds this time.

TheMustressMhor · 12/12/2019 08:42

Hmmmm.
Where did the cat go?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/12/2019 08:45

Morning all.

TheMustressMhor · 12/12/2019 08:45

Sorry.

I seem to have posted that cat twice. He'll be pleased. DH was up early this morning and discovered small hillocks of cat shit on the carpet.

In other news, DS has voted for the first time ever, and he gave his vote to the Labour party.

I am staying up all night. There is something different and very frightening about this election.

BlackeyedSusan · 12/12/2019 08:52

I was thinking of trying to get an early night and maybe setting the alarm for middle of night. Depends how much I get done today.

rogueantimatter · 12/12/2019 08:53

Thank you again RTB

I wonder if voters are going to vote early so they don't have to go out in the evening? So might not be indicative of high turnout? The elderly Con voters may have a Blitz spirit and battle through inclement weather to vote unfortunately.

Quite nice weather here atm in East Dunbartonshire.

colouringinpro · 12/12/2019 09:03

pmk FlowersBrewCakeWineGin to all.

MockersFactCheckMN · 12/12/2019 09:04

With rian outside like this, no cats will vote today. You could promise free food for dogs and diplomatic immunity for mice and they still wouldn't get up off their backs.

Forecast says chance of rain around 3pm is down to 15%. Will make a run for the polling station around then.
