Keeping this short. This is the Brexit fall out thread.

The one where we might get another glimpse of what Brexit means.

I'll post an election special thread shortly with links to various times and important seats (I wont get it done before the other thread fills so this is also a stop gap but please try and use the election special thread for today's events instead of Westminstenders when it goes live)

My dad's (SNP Wink) vote in East Dunbartonshire will be cast by proxy - by another SNP voter Grin (whose wife is also SNP Smile)

Still think that East Dunbartonshire will stay LibDem as the Conservative Unionists will hold their noses and vote LibDem.

I hope I'm wrong Wink

BlackeyedSusan · 12/12/2019 09:05

Going now before I forget. Well once I have finished coffee.

BercowsFestiveFlamingo · 12/12/2019 09:12

Anxious place mark. Off to vote on the way back from the school run.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 12/12/2019 09:19

The80sweregreat I sympathise. My young adult DC will likely be devastated and bewildered by the result too.

A kinnock in '92 for the new generation, its the hope thats going to break me this time oh and PMK Sad

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 12/12/2019 09:19

Thanks red

Voting done. Hoping not to be called to go look at a polling station today. Already too much to do and not enough time to rest before the all-nighter

TheMustressMhor · 12/12/2019 09:23

@prettybird

It took me ages to work out where the cat was in your picture.

TinselBonnets · 12/12/2019 09:26

pmk

CatteStreet · 12/12/2019 09:35

'As someone who can't vote (15 year rule) today, I just want to pop by to thank you all for your informative discussion, arguments, stories, cat photos and many, many links. Thank you for your reflection and humanity.

Whatever happens today I wish you all well.'

Thank you Makiwa. Word for word this from me, too.

Watching from Europe.

TheMustressMhor · 12/12/2019 09:35

DD still undecided when she phoned me ten mins. ago.

Fuck being undecided, I said. You're TTC. What kind of future will your DC have if you don't vote to keep the Tories out?

ElenadeClermont · 12/12/2019 09:36

Voted.

InMySpareTime · 12/12/2019 09:40

Was heartened by the queue of people of all ages at the polling station this morning. The staff were glad of the mince pies I offered them too (or a chocolate coin for a Gluten Free option).
I'm now at a cafe by a different polling station and there's a steady stream of mostly older voters, but that reflects the local demographic of that polling station.
🤞

FoldyRoll · 12/12/2019 09:42

92 was my first election. It was devastating. This one has felt the same since the beginning. I so hope I'm wrong but was right about Brexit and Trump. If the Tories get in and wreak the havoc expected this one could be the last for those of us in an already precarious position SadAngry

Should I get a bottle of Gin in to keep me company during the Desperate Hours?

HoneysuckIejasmine · 12/12/2019 09:47

There was one other person at my polling station, but three more arrived as I left. Busier than usual!

Alsohuman · 12/12/2019 09:49

It’s not raining here. The dogs at polling stations hash tag on Twitter is really cheering me up.

PeninsulaPanic · 12/12/2019 09:56

I hear you @FoldyRoll 🤗

Perhaps it's just wishful thinking, or some resilient bit of me determined to enjoy a last day of civilised freedom (I was horribly depressed yesterday, despite being medicated!) but something has shifted this morning. I feel optimistic, if only because I sense deep down that a Tory 'victory' (should it happen tomorrow) will not be all that it seems. The movement against won't ultimately fail, it might just take a bit longer than we had hoped. Something unexpected is coming.

That's my 'mystic meg' bit for polling day, haha! Don't despair ♥

BercowsFestiveFlamingo · 12/12/2019 09:57

Small queue at my polling station this morning. Mainly older people. I found myself looking at them all suspiciously and praying they hadn't voted Tory. I even offered up a quick prayer on the school run that even if the tories get back in that our country doesn't get even more screwed than it already is. I poked myself in the end good and proper this morning with a bronzer brush and was blinded for ten minutes. It was not a good start to a dreadful day of worry. Borrowed cat is curled up on the bed though and a great source of calm. Cup of tea time then Tesco later.

I hate this shit.

QueenOfThorns · 12/12/2019 09:57

No rain here, will vote after nativity play this morning. BJ had better not try hiding in my fridge, there’s only room for one giant turkey in there Grin

magimedi · 12/12/2019 09:58

The weather here is awful (Sussex). The only thing I have to go out for today is to vote & will do so in about 20 minutes. I can see people being put off by this weather.

rogueantimatter · 12/12/2019 09:59

Prettybird I'm not in favour of Scottish independence. I voted LD a few times. However this time I'm voting Labour despite them having no chance here in East Dunbartonshire. I want my vote for them to be counted. If the SNP were to oust JS the libs would hopefully elect a better leader. And SNP have said they'll support a labour government unlike the LDs. I really hope fear of another indy doesn't return most of the Scottish con mps.

In con/snp marginals I've tried to persuade undecided voters to vote SNP. Very much agree with BigChoc's 'Hair on Fire' metaphor for the Conservatives.

pretty I know a few Scottish voters who are struggling to decide.

They do not want independence and in many ways that's a bigger issue than Brexit.

I think a BJ majority though is more likely to lead to Independence.

HesterThrale · 12/12/2019 10:02

Peninsula I agree, there may be some unexpected consequences from this election, not all bad.

But I’d like to send best wishes and solidarity to all those people who feel extreme anxiety about their futures right now. It shouldn’t be like this. A government should feel a moral obligation to look after everyone in the country, no matter what.

ListeningQuietly · 12/12/2019 10:06

Have voted.
Queue of over 20 people at the polling station.
NEVER seen that before.
