Welcome to the Brexit Arms!

The temporary Landlady is back but worry not, all is festive good cheer with just another three days to go until we reach the Only Poll That Really Matters. Till then, the gloves are still on!

A quick recap of the events of the last week or so:

📋❓💙❤️💛⁉️💙‼️🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😀☹️😀☹️😧😱🙄😬🤥🤔🤕🗳

Anyone of any political persuasion who is prepared to join in, eschew goadery, and enjoy a laugh, welcome. First drinks are on the house.

It is nuts and scary online but I have faith in the good sense and decency of the majority of people.

They have the measure of Momentum and they're not going to vote them in.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 09/12/2019 12:36

Hi Megan, pleased to see you back!

Honestly? Personally speaking, I’m flagging, it’s a constant barrage and it’s exhausting. I just need friday to come now. So done with it all, so done with fending off insults, demands for answers and justifications, ‘genuine question’, politicians saying stupid stuff, virtue signallers, celebrities and their opinions, debates, newspapers, social media etc...

Done. Done. Done.

Seriously considering coming off mumsnet now, it’s just adding to the interminable noise in my head.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 09/12/2019 12:42

“It is nuts and scary online but I have faith in the good sense and decency of the majority of people.”

I hope so Mix, I’m worried that it runs deeper than that though, I’m worried that the division is so extreme and there are so many crazed people out there, that despite fridays result, trouble is brewing for the country as a whole.

I am genuinely worried. I think some people have totally lost themselves in the madness and the extremes, potentially becoming dangerous or violent as a result.

It all feels very cult like.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 09/12/2019 12:44

Oh fgs. Here we go again.

Limer · 09/12/2019 12:53

Had a letter from the local Labour MP this morning - filed it under "B" for "Bin" Grin He must be getting nervous if he's writing to me!

Milkywayfan I know quite a few EU citizens who have made the UK their home, and they're almost all hardworking, young professionals. They are the most vocal of anyone I speak to in terms of wanting a controlled, rather than an uncontrolled, immigration policy.

Epic Whatever the result, I hope Friday will dawn as a new start for the whole country, but I fear there will be some pretty sore losers who won't want to admit defeat graciously.

ajandjjmum · 09/12/2019 12:53

Hey Epic - you said you have lots going on - hope you're ok. Wine Gin

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 09/12/2019 12:58

Some of these so called ‘caring people’ are some of the nastiest bastards I’ve EVER encountered.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 09/12/2019 13:00

Thanks AJ, I need all the gin and all the wine! 😂

BelleHathor · 09/12/2019 13:09

Hugs Epic try not to let it them get to you. Remember the article about "Brexit Derangement Syndrome". These people are delusional and taking out their very own personal issues on strangers on the internet I treat it like at Attenborough show and just observe and roll my eyes, it not you its them 🤔😉

MeganBacon · 09/12/2019 13:09

I have faith in the people I know in real life, work with etc., but I'm so conscious of the fact we all live in our own bubbles and other bubbles are bigger than mine. All 3 leaders are just trying to please everyone and offend no-one, it's such a bland nasty bore. To me it's more about the quality of the people behind the leader, doing that actual work.
Anyway, not too many days left for a huge cock up to happen so fingers crossed.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 09/12/2019 13:16

“These people are delusional and taking out their very own personal issues on strangers on the internet”

Correct! You are so right, and they have ZERO idea what’s going on in the lives of those they attack. It’s so fucking self indulgent, very often, above all else, they attack people whose personal circumstances they don’t know, because they don’t fucking ask. To assuage some middle class guilt they have for the ‘poor’.

It’s fucking bonkers.

SingingLily · 09/12/2019 13:17

there will be some pretty sore losers who won't want to admit defeat graciously.

This, Limer. Because democracy also rests on losers' consent but the usual rent-a-gobs will be out protesting in the streets. Just what the police need after London Bridge.

Epic, hang in there. Your mind is already made up. All you have to do on Thursday is put a cross in the box on the ballot paper. If you need something to take your mind off RL stuff, how about creating some of your famous memes ready for Election Night? Let's face it, there's a wealth of comic material out there. Or now that your DD has waffles down to a fine art, how about getting her to make some raisin and walnut bread or doughnuts? Mmm, homemade doughnuts. That would cheer anyone up. 🍩🍪

I've got a great recipe for peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies, too, if she's interested...

OP posts:
EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 09/12/2019 13:18

I’m not saying that’s all of them and they may rightly have their own unique issues, but there does seem to be a distinct pattern of the middle class guilt syndrome presenting itself widely.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 09/12/2019 13:19

“Or now that your DD has waffles down to a fine art, how about getting her to make some raisin and walnut bread or doughnuts? Mmm, homemade doughnuts. That would cheer anyone up. 🍩🍪”

Hahaha, that’s not my DD, I wish it was! 😂😂😂

But, nothing to say I can’t make her learn when she returns from Uni! 😉😉😉

SingingLily · 09/12/2019 13:21

To assuage some middle class guilt they have for the ‘poor’.

😂Epic. I saw a post the other day along the lines of "my DH is a very high earner and I'm a SAHM who does charity work and has an inherited property but I'm voting Labour because I weally weally care".

Quite pulled at my heartstrings. Or would do, but I'm voting Tory and therefore by definition, evil and heartless Grin

OP posts:
EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 09/12/2019 13:22

And to top it all off, these ‘poor’ people they care so desperately about... as soon as these beloved ‘poor’ folk go off piste and state an intention to vote differently to how they are told, what happens?

They get called “Turkeys Voting for Christmas”.

Astonishing hypocrisy.

SingingLily · 09/12/2019 13:23

Ah, but it's not just Socialism. It's Middle Class Socialism. Grin

“Quite pulled at my heartstrings. Or would do, but I'm voting Tory and therefore by definition, evil and heartless grin”

That made me proper lol, thanks! I needed it! 😂

SingingLily · 09/12/2019 13:27

And not only that, but when I look in the mirror, I have no reflection.

Plus going through locked doors is easy-peasy. I disappear under the door as black smoke and materialise on the other side.

Evil, that's me. Grin

Still voting Conservative though.

OP posts:
EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 09/12/2019 13:27

It really makes me laugh.

Poverty NEVER happens under socialism. Nope. No evidence whatsoever. Nothing to see here.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 09/12/2019 13:30

Oh and on the NHS.

The Brexit Arms. Is this Ben Elton? Is it free mulled wine and mince pies for everyone or a Corb-free Christmas 🎄?
