Welcome to the Brexit Arms!

The temporary Landlady is back but worry not, all is festive good cheer with just another three days to go until we reach the Only Poll That Really Matters. Till then, the gloves are still on!

A quick recap of the events of the last week or so:

📋❓💙❤️💛⁉️💙‼️🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😀☹️😀☹️😧😱🙄😬🤥🤔🤕🗳

Anyone of any political persuasion who is prepared to join in, eschew goadery, and enjoy a laugh, welcome. First drinks are on the house.

Any situation in which Farage has a hand is very frightening to me.

I wish he would just disappear.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 08/12/2019 19:23

So apparently there is yet another DEBATE going on? Ffs... when do they ever stop. I see the tories didn’t show and twitter is in meltdown as per usual. WHO CARES. What could they possibly all say now, that hasn’t been
#getbrexitdone. to. death. Hmm

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 08/12/2019 19:25

I wouldn’t show for C4 either tbf.

Saucery · 08/12/2019 19:32

I didn’t even stay on C4 for that, thought it was just an audience debate. The only one so far that didn’t annoy the hell out of me with politicians talking over each other and an ineffectual presenter failing to rein them in was the Nick Robinson one on Friday. Bored with them all now. But then I’ve voted already, so maybe that’s why. I doubt I’d get a flash of inspiration from any of them at this point anyway!

Walkingdeadfangirl · 08/12/2019 19:38

The Gloves are On. lol nice work.

I see the Tories have been no platformed again on the current C4 debate. Probably a good thing because they are like a bunch of squabbling children.

Angela Rayner: Our spending plans are FULLY costed, the rich will only pay a tiny bit more Dianne Abbott says so

Jo Swinson: I am sorry we went into coalition with the evil Tories and I was NEVER head girl

Jonathan Bartley: If the environment was a bank it would have been bailed out by now."

SNP woman: Its all the Tories fault, after independence we can replace oil with our tidal energy ... drone drone drone

Welsh guy: Its all the evil Tories fault why does no one ever know who I am ... drone drone drone

Evening Comrades...

Fell asleep for 2 hours after drinking a little too much beer last night and needed a small nappette in the PM. Will naps be banned under Marxism? I guess we will all be working too hard to have time...maybe the last one of my life...

XingMing · 08/12/2019 20:36

Just a PMK (no cat picture, dog owner) as I have been thinking aloud on the Nasty Tory thread at some length and that has absorbed all my mental steam this evening. Having been challenged as to what I did want (having declined the blank cheque option) I had to lay out my thinking for what I'd hope to see post-Brexit and January 2020.

For some idiotic reason, I really like 2020 as a number. The correlation with perfect vision? perhaps?

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 08/12/2019 21:15

“thinking aloud on the Nasty Tory thread at some length”

Which one? 😂😂😂

🕯 🙏 for sally.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 08/12/2019 21:43

3 campaigning days to go and Boris still has a solid double digit lead.

Don't want to jinx it but their is light at the end of the tunnel.

XingMing · 08/12/2019 21:43

The Are the Conservatives really this popular thread? It seems to have stopped dead, I keep pressing refresh.

XingMing · 08/12/2019 21:46

FFS, that could be me on the Nasty Tory thread! Please be kind; I had to kind iof postulate my ideal political universe. And then we had a power outage................

SingingLily · 08/12/2019 22:27

Xing, I think I might have hidden that thread but it sounds very stressful. Have a very large 🍷 and some 🍫 and breathe.

And don't forget we are in the West Country. We take power outages in our stride. It's all good practice if it all goes horribly wrong on Thursday Smile

Which it won't....

Off to sleep now.

Survation poll...

DustyDiamond · 09/12/2019 07:13

Brew to all Comrades ✊🥀

Survation was the Corbynites preferred pollster in 2017 and until earlier this year...

I think they were the ones who were closest to the 2017 result

The polls are all over the shop though at the mo 😱

The next & last big one is out tomorrow night (which will no doubt provide lots of data for the tactical voting sites, which is annoying!)

DustyDiamond · 09/12/2019 07:38

(From Twitter)

The leading party in each demographic is highlighted

Tories lead in all demographics apart from female, 18-24, 25-34, North, Scotland, Wales, NI

(Female is only a 0.3% lead for Labour over Tory)

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 09/12/2019 07:45

I can’t believe I haven’t had a single canvasser at my door this election.

SingingLily · 09/12/2019 07:53

Morning, all!

There may be high winds outside but here in the Arms, it's a veritable oasis of calm. The complimentary breakfast tray is on the bar and the previous Landlady forgot to take her waffle iron so I've taken the liberty of putting it through its paces. Honey, jam and maple syrup on the bar. Help yourselves!

Dusty, good morning. That's a cheery bit of polling news to start the day - thank you! Late last night, The Guardian reported another poll giving the Conservatives a ten point lead at 43%, Labour on 33%, and the LibDems (who, as you know, hold a special place in my heart...at least until Thursday) on 13%. Some slight differences but still fairly consistent.

Morning, dirtyrottenscoundrel, they always save the best for last so don't feel left out.Smile

Kettle's on.

Xing, if you are up and about and you need an antidote to the Nasty Tories thread, have a look at the Hey Tory Voters thread instead.

It's Momentum desperation at its finest and the formerly quiet Tories have had quite enough of the bile and propaganda. There's no mincing of words.

Minds are very definitely made up and will not be changed! No pasaran!
