The closing date for registration is this Tuesday

The weekend has seen the leaders question time debates.

Johnson failed to answer a question and the BBC edited later edited footage to change laughter at him to applause.

Swinson continues to prove that the Lib Dem campaign planners don't understand the electorate. They based the campaign around her and the more the public see her and the more she opens her gob she proves she's the witless headgirl who really knows fuck all.

Corbyn has now adopted a neutral 2nd referendum position. Far too late.

Jo Johnson apparently said that a good election manifesto is one people aren’t talking about 48 hrs later, and it seems that the Conservatives really have gone for that strategy.

Johnson had promised a manifesto for change yet of the three main parties it seems far from that. It avoids controversy for the most part, but also doesn't offer solutions to some of our biggest problems like social care. But with the Tories so ahead in the polls, the status quo and making sure they don't have a repeat of the 'dementia tax' car crash seems to be the order of the day. Because Brexit is going to going to provide a magic solution instead...

Meanwhile the Labour Party have gone completely the other way and really have gone for it and come up with ideas. With a mixed response from the public and press.

And I still can't tell you what is in the LD one, cos Prince Andrew...

This week should see the election come into focus as postal voting starts. As it stands its hard to bet on anything but a Tory majority.

I’ve been through that.

It says I can do it by online form but I can’t find one. If I click on the department for education link, it gives me another 17 bodies I could contact.

www.gov.uk/government/organisation

I don’t know which one it would be and where the relevant education online form is?

DGRossetti · 25/11/2019 12:31

I made the point about Thatcher getting election lessons DGR - all that does is illustrate how many of us (and I include myself in that blush) are still c40 years later institutionally conditioned to accept a lower male voice as more authoritative hmm and to dislike "shrill" female voices

Is it "institutional" or "evolutional" ? If we are allowed to ask anymore, that is.

famously the USAF found that all pilots could hear female voices better (which is why Star Treks computer was female).

Pan2 · 25/11/2019 12:31

Is anyone else anticipating another significant mess-up media-wise by the tories? They have obvs settled on a strategy, which is wildly misfiring and triggering a lot of questions regarding their conduct. It's highly unlikely they have a Plan B. They are clearly running out of 'people' to put up who won't sink them in the messy stuff.

Whether that's a transmission mechanism to lose votes is another question, but we still have almost 3 weeks left and the yare looking exhausted for options.

thecatfromjapan · 25/11/2019 12:31

What about emailing/phoning the NEU, fedup?

Pan2 · 25/11/2019 12:32

Arguably, and oddly, it's a tory election to lose, and they appear to be setting about that task gleefully.

Pan2 · 25/11/2019 12:33

Where's Mark Francois when you really need him?

Alsohuman · 25/11/2019 12:35

Where's Mark Francois when you really need him?

In the locked cupboard with all the other liabilities, it must be pretty crowded in there by now.

Peregrina · 25/11/2019 12:37

Is anyone else anticipating another significant mess-up media-wise by the tories?

At present, they seem teflon coated. Voters who are 'one nation Tories' don't seem to have woken up to what the Tory party now is.

fedup21 · 25/11/2019 12:38

@ thecatfromjapan good idea

Pan2 · 25/11/2019 12:42

My Teflon pans eventually get severely marked and then get thrown out Peregrina. Smile

You'd think One Nation Tories would have worked that nonsense out by now wouldn't you?

mrslaughan · 25/11/2019 12:43

What makes you all think that the National grid have been planning it for ages? If they have, it will have been because if signals that this will be included in Labours manifesto.
I like a lot about the their manifesto - but the nationalisation program is a big problem for me - it's a waste of time and energy/focus. It's pure communism. It's already price regulated - so if your worrying about charges - tackle it that way. It would also be one of the most widely owned stocks in the UK.
I would expect more if this.
But for the labour supports - something to smile about - people are taking the "risk" of labour getting in seriously.

Peregrina · 25/11/2019 12:45

Eventually is the key. Tony Blair was teflon coated but then the teflon peeled off in one sheet. The Tory teflon coating is getting horribly scratched but enough people are still continuing with them.

Enough of these horrible metaphors.

CendrillonSings · 25/11/2019 12:48

In the locked cupboard with all the other liabilities, it must be pretty crowded in there by now.

Especially with Diane Abbott in there. You know, the one who’s going to be running the Home Office in a few weeks if Corbyn gets in? Haven’t heard a peep out of her in ages...

borntobequiet · 25/11/2019 12:49

www.tes.com/news/teacher-pay-rise-what-todays-deal-could-mean-you
The DfE says average gross pay for classroom teachers in November 2018 was already £36,200 and £58,900 for "leadership teachers".

Well well.

Re;NHS prescription- I have to get the inhaler that works best for my son on a private prescription, as it's not available on the a NHS in our trust.

Shock Totally shocked by that. Asthma is very common and the cost of treating uncontrolled asthma is high. I changed to a more expensive inhaler about 3 years ago: life changing. And versus the cost of nebulisers etc for serious attacks it must work out cheaper.

Mistigri · 25/11/2019 12:56

What makes you all think that the National grid have been planning it for ages?

Those sort of changes would need to go through a formal process culminating in board approval. Not quick.

QueenOfThorns · 25/11/2019 12:57

Wanker on a tanker I think ?

I thought maybe scrote on a boat

I couldn’t work out what sort of boat it was, so I decided on ‘cunt on a punt’, even though it clearly wasn’t one of those Grin

ffauxlivia · 25/11/2019 12:59

Jess Philips gets abuse in direct proportion to how bloody brilliant she is. The right wing would be all over her like a rash if she was on their side.

She' s been brilliant on Twitter today:

mrslaughan sodium cromoglicate inhaler by any chance?

Apileofballyhoo · 25/11/2019 13:05

BBC reported on the Uber story saying x many jobs would be lost. They're not even jobs. They did have someone on later saying most drivers chop and change between apps to get whatever job suits best at a particular time and that drivers are swapping cars and driving without insurance - but that was later and not the headline.

Victoria Derbyshire read out a tweet without comment this morning from someone saying the UK needs to leave the EU before they let 6 new African countries in. Why was this tweet chosen to read out? Why no comment on it?

www.theneweuropean.co.uk/top-stories/eu-flag-mafia-bollocks-to-brexit-1-6392585

Ever wanted to live in a fascist police state? Good news! We're already on a very slippery slope.
A brexit thug using his uniform to shut down protest. Be very afraid of what happens if the tories win this election.

(If you were wondering - 'bollocks' was deemed not offensive or a swear word back in the 70s thanks to the sex pistols court case over their album name)

Jo Swinson’s latest gem is to describe Waspi women as wanting something for nothing. I so hope she loses her seat.
