“I would love to meet BJ in the flesh so I could experience his supposed animal magnetism for myself.

I just can't see it!!”

🤮 😂

Epicwaffle · 30/10/2019 22:36

Cameron of course, posessed a different type of ‘animal magnetism’.

Epicwaffle · 30/10/2019 22:38

“A colleague of mine actually snogged BJ at uni, seemed quite proud, no yuck factor at all.”

😳😳😳

I truly think (although accept that it doesn't feel like it at the moment to many), that the last few years will prove to have been a Good Thing wrt political discourse & our engagement with politics as a nation.

At the moment it seems like a horrible mess, but as a whole we're more politically engaged than we've been for decades.

People actually know the names of MPs - not just the big names but backbenchers too.

People are actually questioning what their MPs do for them, and what they shirk. We're acutely aware of how politics affect every aspect of our lives.

I fucking HATE Jezza, but I give him credit too for waking up youth engagement as well during the 2017 election. Also give him credit for waking up a huge swathe of people to just how toxic the hard left are...

Brexit has also caused people of polar opposite political leanings to come together as well for common cause & realise that they other side' are not that different to them.

(Sorry for the ramble 😳)

MeganBacon · 30/10/2019 22:41

And that was my face too when she told me. He also recognised her in a crowd 30 odd years later so that might be part of the charm.

Never met him, dont know him in person but I do feel the attraction coming out of the TV screen, he is a leader (good or bad). He has charisma, he has charm & he has intelligence.

Corbyn is like a creepy grandpa, I dont want to sit on his knee and I have no confidence he could ever lead this country. Starmer I could vote for, even Kinnock (and a few others). But Corbyn and his cabal send shivers down my spine and not in a good way.

In 3 years ( or is it 4 now? ) not a single word any remainer has saiid has changed my mind about brexit
If anything, their patronising drivel has made me me want to leave even more

👍
You would have thought that after nearly 4 years they would have realised the patronising guff is not working and a change of tack is required. Unfortunately, it appears the penny still hasn't dropped.

No it hasn’t time4chocolate, they’ll never stop. I think they just like the sound of their own voice.

MeganBacon · 30/10/2019 22:52

I also wonder what people hope to get from these boards. The remain board is so active and it sounds like their purpose is to join with like minded people so they are not alone in wondering what on earth is going on, and that's absolutely fair enough. It also sounds like they are not here to listen to alternate view points, etc. It's more about seeking reinforcement, and that's adding to the polarisation.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 30/10/2019 22:53

I’d snog him given the chance.

Firstly this thread has me crying with laughter... Grin

Porkback mountain, sitting on ‘creepy grandpa’s knee’ etc...GrinGrin

Secondly I have to agree with this...

“At the moment it seems like a horrible mess, but as a whole we're more politically engaged than we've been for decades.”

My 12 yr old DS and I were watching the HOC recently, and he said (paraphrasing obviously), that once all this stupidity is over, he wouldn’t mind that kind of job! (Ie in politics). So yes, it has certainly engaged my DS! Fingers crossed we have a strong new generation of politically engaged open minded youngsters, who will grow up to lead us well one day.
