I’m honestly totally fed up of it all

I’ve actually got more time for those who are aiming for a positive outcome from Brexit than the Remainers who completely refuse to acknowledge that more people want to Leave than remain and more people support BJ than anyone else

And those of you who’ve been on these threads since the beginning will know what a turnaround that is for me! 😂

It’s so fucking tiring that people just keep blaming everyone for this mess - we’re in it - we need to find a way out

time4chocolate · 30/10/2019 21:52

Poor you 😂

Oh contrare, if he appeared on my doorstep I'd invite him in for a Brew and a garribaldi biscuit Smile

Don’t do it!

He has such a track record with women he must have superpowers which he might unleash in your kitchen!

Evening all 🍷

You've been battered around the ring a bit 🐻 - I'm not surprised you're fed up!

Blue country here too thank fuck!

It's the generational tribalism of politics that has a massive effect as well - like when Jess Philips said she'd been 'brought up to hate the Tories' (obvs goes the other way too though)

Brexit has definitely cracked everything wide open & is making people, who wouldn't otherwise, act against type

I'm a political tart with no allegiance so I feel no shame about being an opportunistic fly-by-night floozie 😂

Bloody hell I hope not, my kitchen table is not big enough and it's got a wonky leg!!

I’m a big girl but I can’t deny it’s soul destroying

I now just want the quickest end to this and I don’t care what that is

Remainers have had their chance to convince Leavers why we should stay, that’s failed so we need to see what Leave looks like

Epicwaffle · 30/10/2019 22:08

I’ve been watching Bear. It’s horrid, you don’t deserve any of that shite. You are always fair in your points of view and are willing to consider and reflect on those of others. I mean, we obviously disagree on the key issue of brexit and politics, but that’s no reason for me to not have full respect and time for your opinions on the matter!

I am just one person who voted brexit in 70 + million, and I would be a fool to expect everyone to align to my opinions on it, especially the tiny nuances within. Many people voted remain, they are devastated about the result and I totally respect and understand that. It doesn’t change my opinion, but it doesn’t mean I have no empathy for their position or want to hear their (non insulting) considered points and arguments. Largely because I like to think I am not a massive twat! Grin

You didn’t ‘literally’ kill anyone by voting tory, anymore than I ‘literally killed’ anyone by voting for tony blair’! Blush Politics is so nuanced. Once people retreat to their respective trenches and just refuse to hear anyone elses POV, they are no better than the politicians they claim to hate so much.

The fact is, all parties have major negatives and some positives. It’s about choosing the least worst option mostly. Sad but true.

In my case, the brexit deal could have been better, but it’s good enough for me. Brexit is my key policy issue right now, so therefore MY vote will go tory. Next time, it might go elsewhere, depending on what policies are key to me. I hate this tribalism around party politics. I believe that swing voting is a common sense approach, as parties change, policies change, voters change.

Give it 5 yrs and I might be back here crying into my beer about being stuck in that same tory stronghold! Grin

Anyway, a bit of a ramble, but you get my drift! You are welcome here! Wine

Bearbehind, I am in an area that flipped from blue to red in 2017 (the Corbyn effect). So very hopeful we can reverse that (Corbyn has lost his shine).
Sorry to hear your taking a beating from your own side, you are very welcome here even if you have a different opinion to me, I respect your views.

iirc 40% of voters changed their allegiance over the course of the last 2 elections (4 years). So there is scope for massive change.

Bearbehind · 30/10/2019 22:15

Thanks epic

I genuinely don’t understand what people hope to achieve by continuing to exist in their own little bubble where what they wanted more than 3 years ago can still happen

Likewise, if you want BJ out, moaning about him achieves fuck all, you have to have a viable alternative. Which we don’t.

I don’t think anyone wishes ill on anyone else, we just have differing opinions on what the outcomes will be

It’s such a mess

Bearbehind · 30/10/2019 22:16

Thank you 😊

It’s certainly eye opening to see where the real polarisation is.

Won’t be a problem for him!

😟
You're always welcome here BrewCakeWine

I stepped away completely from MN & pretty much all political stuff for the best part of the last couple of years - I only came back on when deadlines were looming (and missed 🙄)

It's been a looong time of drama, mostly for the hardcore remainers really as they've not stopped fighting & hoping - leavers have been pretty much patiently waiting until we started getting proper dicked around at the start of this year.

This GE is badly needed & a clear out of Parliament will be cleansing
Loads of long-standing MPs are standing down now so there'll be a fresher approach after the election hopefully 🤞

In 3 years ( or is it 4 now? ) not a single word any remainer has saiid has changed my mind about brexit.

If anything, their patronising drivel has made me me want to leave even more.

DustyDiamond · 30/10/2019 22:24

I would love to meet BJ in the flesh so I could experience his supposed animal magnetism for myself.

I just can't see it!!

DustyDiamond · 30/10/2019 22:25

True dat Dirty!

mummmy2017 · 30/10/2019 22:25

Bearbehind · 30/10/2019 22:27

If anything, their patronising drivel has made me me want to leave even more.

I literally never thought I’d say this, but I can see why.

It’s absolutely ridiculous the blame mentality of a huge swathe of Remainers.

If David Cameron’s mother had never got pregnant none of this would have happened 😂

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 30/10/2019 22:27

Oh god, those Westminster threads? I hide every one of them, & they get through about 1 a week, do any of them actually work?

Bearbehind · 30/10/2019 22:28

Bear can I buy you a drink?

Thank you mummmy

A pint please .........of wine

(blatantly stolen line from Gavin and Stacey)

MeganBacon · 30/10/2019 22:29

Hi Bear and everyone,
I don't really get why people think we can go back three years and start again. There's no undoing it, we are beyond the point of no return and I wish people would look at where we are now and decide what the best thing is from here on in. I gave up on revoke about six months ago for reasons already stated and really would like a deal of some sort to pass so we can have more worthwhile talks about the future relationship. I also have no patience with this continued narrative that Leavers are dim or misled or cannot possibly be worthwhile fully contributing members of society. I like to get out of my own echo chamber but to do that, you have to recognise when you are in one.

Bearbehind · 30/10/2019 22:30

We’ve had our moments megan but you got there before me! 😆

MeganBacon · 30/10/2019 22:31

A colleague of mine actually snogged BJ at uni, seemed quite proud, no yuck factor at all.

Epicwaffle · 30/10/2019 22:32

I think we can all drink to that! Grin
