Parker I held out hope for Revoke for soooo long but about six months ago just couldn't see any justification in the ways the HOP were trying to to stop it happening and didn't want to identify with that kind of movement. I just can't argue it wasn't democratic and I think that's far more important than Brexit/not Brexit. I voted Remain but wasn't strongly convinced (hate EU but love trade deals, so was torn). But I get where you are coming from.

Epicwaffle · 23/10/2019 17:52

Hey @Parker231, is this where we dig out that much loved Winnie the pooh meme from back in the day? Bear

Epicwaffle · 23/10/2019 18:15

Maybe this one?

Lots of Labour MPs don't want a GE

So watch this space for BJ tabling motion for GE instead of pushing ahead with bill

Labour blocking a GE yet again will be great PR for BJ

'Parliament vs the people'

DustyDiamond · 23/10/2019 18:20

Especially when the thick twats post selfies of themselves voting against, and endless triumphant, self-congratulatory tweets about 'defeating Boris again' (after banging on about wanting a GE for ever)

Epicwaffle · 23/10/2019 18:29

Gloaty bastards. They just look like they are trolling the electorate when they pull that shit. They really don’t have a clue how they come across do they? Either that or they just don’t care. I’m hoping it’s the former, but I am having my doubts.

So. 8 day countdown now I think? Not going to happen is it? I just can’t see it happening on the 31st now, despite Boris’ insistence on it today, that said nothing surprises me with brexit shenanigans anymore, so who knows!

DustyDiamond · 23/10/2019 18:35

I really, truly don't understand how they are so blind to the optics of what they're doing!

Every time they gloat about 'giving BJ a bloody nose' they're shoring up even more support for him & he goes up another point in the polls.

Obvs I'm happy with this as it's more likely to result in leaving & hopefully a Tory majority, but I am utterly gobsmacked that the anti-Brexit brigade cannot see the obvious 🤷🏻‍♀️

twofingerstoEverything · 23/10/2019 18:40

Parliament vs the people'
You've certainly taken Cummings' new slogan on board, Dusty. Do you think if you repeat it frequently enough people will believe it? I hear it on the radio and laugh now; it's such a transparent and unsubtle attempt at populist rhetoric.

Bearbehind · 23/10/2019 18:42

but I am utterly gobsmacked that the anti-Brexit brigade cannot see the obvious

I guess it’s just a measure of the mess this is that I think it’s Leavers who are missing the obvious

It’s Leavers who are being played here - BJ never had any intention of leaving on 31st - he’s just built this scenario up around him so that he’s the hero who is being mistreated.

And Leavers are falling for it hook line and sinker.

He has no intention of going for no deal, and he knows most Leavers will accept anything he offers that’s not Remain

Epicwaffle · 23/10/2019 18:47

“but I am utterly gobsmacked that the anti-Brexit brigade cannot see the obvious 🤷🏻‍♀️“

I’m not, having lurked/posted on brexit threads over the last 3 + years, the resounding hatred and lack of interest in the Pov of leavers is relentless and authoritarian, not from all remain posters, but from a significant majority here. The same laissez-faire attitude to brexit voters permeates the house widely and they now just treat it like a cringeworthy, personal, social media branding excercise.

“It’s politics Jim, but not as we know it!”

DustyDiamond · 23/10/2019 19:00

Parliament vs the people'
You've certainly taken Cummings' new slogan on board, Dusty.

And there are none so blind as an arrogant anti-Brexiter steeped in their own superiority 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you actually read my posts you would see that I have in fact merely pointed out that Cummings's slogan is working - the narrative is becoming entrenched & commonplace - because stupid Brexit-blockers are playing right into it.

If the idiots stopped acting entirely predictably & to type then the narrative would not be gaining traction.

Basic psychology.

Epicwaffle · 23/10/2019 19:00

And before the pedants go for me over my contextual use of Laissez-Faire. I have ‘orrible’ neck pain and CBA to find an alternative analogy. So it’ll do for now. My point still stands. Grin

DustyDiamond · 23/10/2019 19:02

It’s Leavers who are being played here - BJ never had any intention of leaving on 31st - he’s just built this scenario up around him so that he’s the hero who is being mistreated.

Exactly!!

So why are brexit-blockers playing along?!

I'm obvs happy that it's gaining momentum as I'm a leaver, but it's so blindingly obvious that I cannot comprehend why the anti-brexit lot are allowing themselves to be played

Epicwaffle · 23/10/2019 19:02

‘Basic psychology.’

the narrative is becoming entrenched & commonplace
Only amongst a certain sector of the population...

Bearbehind · 23/10/2019 19:05

it's so blindingly obvious that I cannot comprehend why the anti-brexit lot are allowing themselves to be played

Because they’ve been backed into a corner by him.

It’s either block it or force the most important legislation for a generation through in 3 days.

The latter is mind glowingly irresponsible and anyone who thinks otherwise is a blinkered fool

DustyDiamond · 23/10/2019 19:06

having lurked/posted on brexit threads over the last 3 + years, the resounding hatred and lack of interest in the Pov of leavers is relentless and authoritarian, not from all remain posters, but from a significant majority here.

True dat!

It's why I ignore most of them & don't bother with any other Brexit threads on here

I follow loads of different people with opposing viewpoints as I'm v interested in human behaviour and interaction & motivations

The similarities between the extremists on each side are clear as day - just like the left/right horseshoe theory, Leave/Remain follows the same

DustyDiamond · 23/10/2019 19:08

Pavlov’s Dog? 🐶 🔔 Wink

😂😂😂

Maybe not that basic 😂

Not far off though for the extremists...

Sunnyuplands · 23/10/2019 19:09

Epic waffle I too suffer from the awful neck pain.

What do you do for it?

DustyDiamond · 23/10/2019 19:12

Bear - it's the showboating that goes along with it that is mind blowing

The constant demands for a GE - 'bring it on' from Jezza et al etc
The posting of selfies cheering about defeating Boris
Gloating tweets

If they stuck to boring facts 'we had to block because xyz' then you can't weaponise that

When they gloat about 'defeating Boris' then it is personal & game-playing & feeds the narrative

Sunnyuplands · 23/10/2019 19:12

They have not been backed into a corner, they have been forced to looking at the exit deadline set by the eu!!

There has to be a deadline in most areas of life including life itself. They can't ramble on in definalty although I'm sure many mps want to do that because they know they will get voted out!

Sunnyuplands · 23/10/2019 19:14

Oh yes dusty lady so and so with the spider broach, gloating that she took Boris down a peg or two!!

Parker231 · 23/10/2019 19:14

Boris is in trouble yet again - he’s cancelled (again) at short notice to appear in front of the Select Committee. He needs to get act together and start attending meetings he is mandated to attend.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 23/10/2019 19:16

'Parliament vs the people'
I am up for rallying people and fighting Parliament, for our democracy.
Those MPs need to be punished for what they are doing.

Bearbehind · 23/10/2019 19:21

it's the showboating that goes along with it that is mind blowing

I can’t disagree with that

The whole thing is a disgrace
