Confused

Not a requirement to debate a budget if you are calling for an election surely.

🏉 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🙌

What a game!!!!

My teenage dragon is not impressed 😂

DustyDiamond · 26/10/2019 11:08

when no deal is still on the table.

No deal is always on the table - there are only two ways to avoid no deal: vote for the deal or revoke A50

Instead of continuously banging on disingenuously about the fucking table, Jezza & the anti Brexit coalition need to be honest for once.

Just say 'we don't want this deal, we will never vote for this deal' then vote for GE & make their case to the electorate.

TheGirlFromStoryville · 26/10/2019 11:14

I would say for the remainers in parl that no deal would ever be good enough for them as they want to remain in the EU.
If leave did win another hypothetical ref then there is no guarantee they would abide by the result - LibDems have already said they wouldn't accept such a result.

We need a GE ASAP. That would be the best kind of people's vote, however too many MP's are blocking it as they know they'll lose their seats.

time4chocolate · 26/10/2019 11:14

Really good game 😊🏈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Yep!

dusty

Definitely

In theory im welsh so I support them to wind my dad up

But a Welsh/England match will be a doozy!

#conflicted...again

howabout · 26/10/2019 11:27

Re OBR publishing projections. They would have been worse wrong than usual because the ONS just admitted to getting ytd deficit calculations wrong to the tune of £1.5 bn - this error is significant because it is the difference between the figures being better rather than worse than previous projections.

OBR figures are not, in any case, "factual" because they are modelled based on assumptions about the future fed to them by the Govt.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 26/10/2019 11:29

That would be the best kind of people's vote

I would agree, except our first past the post system means that for all intents and purposes i dont have a vote

How about a referendum...BUT (no one yell at me yet) its a referendum to say who runs the country

howabout · 26/10/2019 11:33

Oh yes and I agree

  1. a GE ASAP
  2. No Deal is not credible for UK nor EU due to extensions - maybe Macron will force GE precondition
  3. Opposition should opt for Revoke as only credible reset position. Also much quicker route forward than a 2nd Ref.

Going to be a very interesting few days.

We're a real mixed bag here too Rufus!

I was born in England but lived a lot of my life in Scotland, mostly Scottish family.

Kids were born in Scotland with a welsh dad.

DS2 doesn't give a toss about rugby (or football), DS1 supports Wales for Rugby but England for football 🤷🏻‍♀️

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 26/10/2019 12:47

My brother was born in Scotland

None of my children are into rugby or football but dh prefers the rugby

He watches the big matches with my dad, ds2 told me the other day that when he was little he got very frightened when he could hear dh and my dad yelling downstairs Grin

TheMustressMhor · 26/10/2019 14:57

@howabout

Maybe Macron will force GE precondition

President Macron does not have the right to force any preconditions in another sovereign nation.

HateIsNotGood · 26/10/2019 16:06

Just popped in to say hi all. I have been keeping up but have had nothing more to add to the discussions. I have noticed that things get a bit less cheerful in here when we're in a 'holding pattern' waiting for the next 'decision'. So posters are reduced to speculation and the 'welcomed remain supporters' go back over old arguments.

So where are we now? Waiting for an HoC vote on a GE I think and so is the EU before they state how long an extension they will grant (yet again). I think they've said they will grant an extension, so crashing out with No Deal by mistake ain't gonna happen for the foreseeable.

I think the WAB is pretty good and a good way forward, BJ is actually doing a better job than I thought he would as I've never been a fan really.

Going backwards and retrospectively assessing previous actions and the 'if such and such had done this and not that we wouldn't be/have this...." is completely counter-productive.

Yes more scrutiny of the WAB has been required, kudos Ken Clarke for suggesting just 3 additional days' but not for wrecking amendments.

Yes, I do wonder why items such as worker's rights, environment moved to the PD, but that may have been for expediency and not 'satanic mills' stuff.

However, should any UK Govt try and reduce any of these rights (which I don't actually think this Govt wants to), they'll be out on their arse pdq.

Miljah · 26/10/2019 16:35

workers rights

Wish I shared your confidence.....

hopefulhalf · 26/10/2019 16:37

How will they be " out on their arse pdq?". If the current far right goverment return a decent majority they can do what the hell they like for the next 5 years under the ftpa.

the current far right goverment

🙄

HateIsNotGood · 26/10/2019 16:55

SonetLumiere - I completely agree with you, I think the EU has been very patient, and the UK fecking around has impacted on them, never mind us.

hopeful and "Milj- one of the first things any* new UK govt needs to do is repeal the FTPA. Then, if a govt starts reducing rights, although a reduction in 'red tape' might be warranted, any reduction of worker's and environmental rights and they'll be turfed out pdq. Because they won't be able to blame the EU anymore.
