I don't really feel qualified to start a Westminstenders thread but we need a new one....

I don't suppose you have a flamingo badge to take in my honour? If not I'm happy to share a toothbrush.

DGRossetti · 18/10/2019 18:16

Now voting with the Government.

Surely the vote is tomorrow in the HoC, not now on radio and TV ?

Or did I miss that change to the constitution ?

There's something pathetically attention seeking about MPs that feel the need to tell the world how they are voting, when it's going to be a matter of public record when they've done it. Vaguely reminiscent of postings on forums where the OP asks a specific question to receive a slew of answers saying "Sorry, I don't know ...."

And if I wanted a quiet night, away from Team Boris, I'd say I'd vote for his blessed deal just to have some "me time". Or are they going to bar the "nay" exit tomorrow ?

It would be deeply satisfying (and deserved) if the deal fails tomorrow, and all Boris can do is bluster about being lied to ....

Good governance

"Best endeavours" anyone ?

dreichsky · 18/10/2019 18:17

Honestly I feel rather guilty not being in the UK. Not marching, (although we annoy our terrible MP on a regular basis), not having to worry about stock piling etc.

prettybird · 18/10/2019 18:17

I'd also like to be there in spirit a share of a red toothbrush Smile

ListeningQuietly · 18/10/2019 18:17

Bercows
I have a plastic flamingo but its a bit big for my lapel!
One of the toothbrushes has your name on it as well Smile

dreichsky · 18/10/2019 18:18

I'm happy to share my toothbrush.

thecatfromjapan · 18/10/2019 18:21

BestforBritain being plucky:

Westminstenders: DUP says no
BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 18/10/2019 18:21

Thanks LQ Smile

ListeningQuietly · 18/10/2019 18:22

@prettybird
You are on the list - I might even put together another toothbrush at this rate
they are normal old used ones with red tape on the handles, cot I'm too tight to source fresh ones

Hoooo · 18/10/2019 18:25

Thank you LQ

My back and ankle are just too sore to go :(

And I'm a menace on my crutches!

Looks like Kate Hoey (LAB, Vauxhall) will OPPOSE the deal.

DGRossetti · 18/10/2019 18:27

Here's a factoid that made me feel sad and wondrous in equal measures from my QI feed ... not sure what - if anything - it has to do with the UKs trials and tribulations. Either a sense of perspective, or welcome distraction, depending on your outlook, I guess ....

The last date that all living humans were together on Earth was November 2nd 2000. Since then there has always been someone onboard the International Space Station

Dusty01 · 18/10/2019 18:28

We’ll be matching AFTER they’ve voted and decided. Sorry for the caps. I’m still going but feeling demoralised.

thecatfromjapan · 18/10/2019 18:29

Philip Hammond voting against.

Driedlimes · 18/10/2019 18:30

Never thought Philip Hammond would be my pin up but we live in strange times

BigChocFrenzy · 18/10/2019 18:32

Any Labour Leave MPs tempted by BJ's promises should look at how he treated the last bunch who believed him

Don't be DUPed !

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/oct/18/remainers-boris-johnson-brexit

Northern Ireland is being cut loose,

by the same Boris Johnson who less than a year ago was telling the DUP’s annual conferencee that any customs or regulatory distinction between Britain and Northern Ireland would “damage the fabric of the union”,^
and:
“No British Conservative government could or should sign up to any such arrangement.”

CendrillonSings · 18/10/2019 18:34

You know how Labour hopes were resting on a group of pollsters such as Panelbase, who unlike biased old YouGov were showing only a small Tory lead of 3 points in their last poll?

Weeell, it's now 9 points. Smile

@EuropeElects

UK, Panelbase poll:

CON-ECR: 36% (+3)
LAB-S&D: 27% (-3)
LDEM-RE: 17%
BREXIT-NI: 11% (-1)
GREENS-G/EFA: 3%

+/- vs. 9-11 October 2019

Fieldwork: 17-18 October 2019

Basilpots · 18/10/2019 18:34

Never thought Philip Hammond would be my pin up but we live in strange times

Along with Oliver Letwin.....

BigChocFrenzy · 18/10/2019 18:34

DG That is inspiring and - I agree, somehow sad too, not sure why

GlassOfPort · 18/10/2019 18:35

According to the Guardian, Labour will be supporting the Letwin amendment, which means there might not be a decision tomorrow after all...

Driedlimes · 18/10/2019 18:38

@Basilpots too right!
However Dominic Grieve has my heart from the time he quoted back a man for all seasons at JRM re withdrawal of the whip 'mere devices to frighten children'. JRM thought he was being clever & cultured; Grieve showed that he actually is.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 18/10/2019 18:40

Citation needed that Labours hopes where on 1 poll

ListeningQuietly · 18/10/2019 18:40

Have upped the toothbrush quota to 7 (and have provided proof to some of the bristlers) - not going to post picture on here as this forum is public.

I'm aware that it may all be in vain
but I HAVE to shout not in my name about Brexit

Dusty01 · 18/10/2019 18:41

Oh God. Cummings (CendrillonSings) is back.
