I don't really feel qualified to start a Westminstenders thread but we need a new one....

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/eu_referendum_2016_/3712877-Peoples-Vote-March-Oct-19th protest thread.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/10/2019 13:38

Hmmmmm. We are just fucked really.

fedup21 · 17/10/2019 13:38

So what happened between now and Saturday’s vote?

tobee · 17/10/2019 13:38

Thanks @TheMShip !

For one minute I thought "Johnson says he has a deal. So Westminsterenders threads go pfffft!"

According to Katya Adler, it's May's deal but with the backstop bits crossed out.

And Gove is towing the frankly barking line that this can all be properly scrutinised before the 31st.

The expelled Tories are lining up behind Labour's PV amendment, just to shaft BJ.

CendrillonSings · 17/10/2019 13:44

So we have a Deal Smile

I take it that since, as we have heard so many times before, “We Must Do Anything To Avoid No Deal”, the passage of this Deal will receive wholehearted support on all sides, since it completely achieves that goal?

Or was that mantra valid only when trying to get people to support Corbyn as the leader of a GONU to, er, “Stop No Deal”?

Well, great news – No Deal has been stopped, so no need for Corbyn and his coterie of loonies to seize power.

Peregrina · 17/10/2019 13:45

What sanctions are available if Johnson and co refuse to comply with the Benn Act? Any chance of going to prison for contempt of court? While Johnson might like the idea of being a martyr, I doubt whether he would actually want to be imprisoned.

prettybird · 17/10/2019 13:45

"Get. Brexit. Done". BJ's facile mantra at the press conference with Juncker.

ODFOB Angry

Let's just hope that it will become as ridiculed as "Strong & Stable" became for May.

Bearbehind · 17/10/2019 13:45

Can anyone explain how this will actually work?

I’ve read that NI can benefit from UK future trade deals as long as the goods don’t go on to Ireland but without a border, how can that be controlled?

Hoooo · 17/10/2019 13:45

Check the small print cend
Always check the small print...

elprup · 17/10/2019 13:46

Fucking twats.

Surely it’s a good thing that the DUP won’t vote for the deal - as it will hopefully mean another extension, a GE and hopefully, a second referendum?

Hasenstein · 17/10/2019 13:46

PMK. It seems more confusing (and tense) with every passing day.

At least biting my fingernails means it's easier to type!

Oh - and my elite cats are more relaxed than me (typical of the elite Wink) - here is one in typically relaxed pose on my his sofa Grin

Not if it’s a rubbish deal though. We shall see...

DarlingNikita · 17/10/2019 13:48

Thanks TheMShip.

I don't even pretend to understand the ins and outs of this deal.

Jason118 · 17/10/2019 13:48

No deal was already stopped, so nothing to see here.

BunchMunch · 17/10/2019 13:48

Great news that Boris has got a deal. Let's hope he gets the votes necessary on Saturday.
Far better than a no deal scenario!

fedup21 · 17/10/2019 13:50

Great news that Boris has got a deal. Let's hope he gets the votes necessary on Saturday.

I can’t say that I agree.

Hoooo · 17/10/2019 13:51

Boris has done fuck all

This is TMs deal with the backstop tip-exxed out...

Hester54 · 17/10/2019 13:51

So we all know when reading people’s comments, can you just say, If you are against this new deal, is it because
A - you think this deal isn’t good enough
B- preferred TM’s deal
C- want no deal,
D- would reject any deal because you will not accept the democratic decision this country has mad.

bellinisurge · 17/10/2019 13:51

I'm also not a Meatloaf Anti-No Dealer. If this stupid shit avoids No Deal, I'm not going to object to it.

Basilpots · 17/10/2019 13:52

Five hours to scrutinise something that will shape the entire future of the country??

Parish Council took five times longer than that to decide on the new toddler play equipment in the park !!

Hester54 · 17/10/2019 13:52

Jason118 Only in the short term, not for ever

Hoooo · 17/10/2019 13:53

E) I don't believe a country should abide by an illegal, funded by dark money, lying advisory referendum.

GlassOfPort · 17/10/2019 13:53

According to the BBC
MPs have voted in favour of an amendment that will allow for a longer debate and for MPs to table amendments on Saturday if the House were to sit. They voted 287 votes to 275

I am wondering if those numbers are indicative of those who would support a PV's amendment
