Wine Brew Gin Glitterball Wine Brew Gin

Hello! Shall we try to do this? A place where Leavers and Remainers come in peace and attempt to find a way forward where we drink lager & sancerre and chianti and think of what unites instead of what divides? Terribly idealistic? How about showing our best side?

Aw, thank you, you lovely people. I knew I'd get a lot of hate votes from Remainers. Come in Leavers, have a go at me too. I was equally vile to you 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

twofingerstoEverything · 16/10/2019 19:29

"hate votes" Hmm
Sheer goady fuckery.

bellinisurge · 16/10/2019 19:37

Hate? Really Hmm

frumpety · 16/10/2019 19:37

Yellow its not hate to ask why you attributed the word elite to people who are left wing or to point out that the right wing in power are very much the elite. Elite has become a derogatory term, although I think it can still be used for athletes ?
Its like the phrase 'let me clear' , I cannot imagine using it in mixed company without at least half the people present immediately switching off or rolling their eyes Wink
I would genuinely love there to be a workable compromise that doesn't mean a worse outcome for the UK as a whole, honestly if you have one, I am all ears.
There are 65million or so people in this country and they all deserve a Government who acts in their best interests, regardless of how that will be perceived by a minority of the population.
Hate is such a strong word, use it with care. I don't hate you, I don't hate people who voted leave. I do disagree with them on this subject and it isn't unkind or bullying to ask for their rationale on reaching their decision to vote leave. It helps with understanding another's viewpoint Smile

yellowallpaper · 16/10/2019 20:32

I DIDN'T VOTE LEAVE.

I didn't vote as I though remain were bound to win anyway and it was pissing down with rain here.

I just came on here because it says (clues in the name) reconciliation cafe, and I actually thought people would be polite to one another and maybe try to reconcile the question of democracy, by reaching some kind of compromise. But I agree it is squaring the circle and can't be done.

I do find all the political machinations fascinating though. It's a great sideshow to life seeing how it will all pan out.

I am entitled to an Irish passport and will be applying for one ASAP. I wouldn't be able to do that with a clear conscience if I had voted leave 😂

yellowallpaper · 16/10/2019 20:35

And....... if Elitist is an insult, surely calling someone ignorant right wing fascist racists is a wee bit insulting too?

Neome · 16/10/2019 20:50

Not everyone is doing name calling. A lot of people are worried and don't necessarily feel they have an escape plan Sad

Snowjive2 · 16/10/2019 20:55

Not interested in reconciliation with people who are willing to hurt the poor and the sick, sorry, so leavers looking for live can fuck off. We’ve looked for 3.5 years, at huge expense to the country, and there’s no better deal than the one we already have as a member state of the EU.

frumpety · 16/10/2019 20:59

Its lovely that you tried but the use of the term elite has so many connotations in today's current climate. And I am sick of the whole , two tribes shit (not the song, a classic of our time ) , as in remainers are one sort of people and leavers are another. The whole divide and rule thing springs to mind, who benefits from societal division ? It isn't the average leave voter or the average remain voter is it ?
