Imagine Corbyn did win an election, can anyone imagine how his policy would play out?
1/2+ years negotiating a new deal with the EU pay any price, accept anything the EU want, that they say they wont be supporting. They agreed we stay in the SM & CU, we keep FOM we still pay into the budget etc, but what part of the EU would we actually leave?

Then 6+ months for a referendum, who would actually be campaigning for the BRINO option? Would it be a democratic referendum if the result was 16 people million vote to remain, 5 people vote for BRINO and 17.4 million spoiled votes.

Is that really fair / legal or will it destroy our country?

bellinisurge · 18/09/2019 16:56

Can you imagine if Corbyn prorogued Parliament like this. I hate the twat but , seriously, this is fucked up.

jasjas1973 · 18/09/2019 16:59

Chief commercial officer for Airbus has come out today to say that in a no-deal brexit, they would need to re access their ability to operate profitably in the UK.

So, staying in the SM and a CU is essential for jobs, security and prosperity....at least until we figure out how to do things differently.

howabout · 18/09/2019 17:15

walking suggest the 17.4 m would have to vote "Remain so we can vote to Leave properly". If that were the campaign and Remain "won" then it would almost guarantee a further vote between Remain and No Deal.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 18/09/2019 17:34

How can you have a referendum where only one side is supported by anyone? Its heads I win, tails you lose.

I imagine it would have to be a 'don't bother voting, the referendum is rigged' campaign.

frumpety · 18/09/2019 17:52

Why would the referendum be rigged if is a leave choice and a remain choice fangirl ?

frumpety · 18/09/2019 17:54

What does 'leave properly' even mean though Howabout ?

twofingerstoEverything · 18/09/2019 19:29

KennDodd I watched the video. I predict Leavers will come on and dismiss it, tiny minority etc (how tiny, enough to take Brexit over the line?)

Or pretend it doesn't exist! Grin Grin Grin

Walkingdeadfangirl · 18/09/2019 19:45

Why would the referendum be rigged if is a leave choice and a remain choice fangirl

I am suggesting it would be rigged because it might have the word 'leave' on the tin but the tin is empty, their is no actual leaving inside.

Also who is going to campaign for this 'soft' leave? How can you have a referendum with only one side raising money, doing interviews on TV, persuading people to vote, printing leaflets, advertising etc? There is literally no one proposing or wanting a Labour leave, not even Labour. Its pre-rigging a referendum if you only have 1 option that anyone wants.

howabout · 18/09/2019 20:16

frumpety leave properly involves actually leaving. I realise that anything other than actually remaining constitutes "hard Brexit" to the average "I respect the Referendum" but so ....

mummmy2017 · 18/09/2019 20:28

Can anyone tell me why Labour just threw another election?

bellinisurge · 18/09/2019 20:40

Because they don't want to go No Deal during any election period.

mummmy2017 · 18/09/2019 20:45

Corbyn has said he will still sit in n his fence.
Do you think he wants Boris to take us out, but has his hands tied, so thinks hey lets not win this one, and then he can hope he gets what he wants but passes the blame.

bellinisurge · 18/09/2019 20:47

He's a shit so nothing would surprise me.

jasjas1973 · 18/09/2019 21:09

Labours brexit policy will be decided at their conference, not by Corbyns musings.

frumpety · 18/09/2019 21:31

Howabout yeah I get it means properly leaving , just what does properly leaving mean exactly or at least what does it mean to you ?

frumpety · 18/09/2019 21:34

Oh and I don't respect the referendum, it was a shit idea Grin

time4chocolate · 18/09/2019 22:32

Blimey, I’m surprised JC hasn’t had a rectal prolapse by nowπŸ˜‰!!

Walkingdeadfangirl · 19/09/2019 00:55

The most important issue for this country in 50 years and the Labour leader is 'meh, I dont know'.

MysteryTripAgain · 19/09/2019 05:17

Can anyone tell me why Labour just threw another election?

Because they know they will lose. Labour's Brexit policy is not clear at all. Watch Emily Thornberry of Question Time 5 September 2019. Her policy as foreign secretary, if in power, would be;

Negotiate a deal that protects Jobs, etc., then campaign to remain!

The entire audience roared and it was made up of 52% leave and 48% remain.

Labour's conundrum is that the leave votes were mostly from labour heartlands. Figures have been challenged (by remain supporters mostly), but estimates are;

60% of labour voters also voted leave.

148 labour constituencies voted leave

84 voted remain.

Polls also show that people fear Corbyn as PM than they fear no deal. So that is another nail in Labour.

So Swinson of LibDems has said that even if there was a further referendum and vote was to leave, LibDems would not accept the vote. Audience roared at that too on Question Time. If it is LibDems policy to ignore voted why do they call themselves Democrats?

Johnson called an election because he knows he will win. Even if Conservatives did not get an overall majority, they could team up with Brexit Party and make a coalition that would have a majority.

Remember in 2016 there were 406 constituencies that voted leave and 242 that voted remain. A coalition with a majority of that magnitude could easily overturn the Benn Act so release UK from the EU shackles.

Johnson would then make the same statement as before;

Backstop = No Deal

No Backstop = Deal

However, on BBC news it is reported that Finns and French will say it is over if Johnson has not produced Backstop alternatives by end of September. Music to Johnson's ears.

frumpety · 19/09/2019 06:34

No deal - negotiating all the stuff in the WA and trade over the next few years.
WA - negotiating trade over the next few years.

I am surprised that anyone would think that come 31st of October if we leave the EU without a WA in place, that that's it, its over , no more Brexit talk. This is going to go on for years either way.

frumpety · 19/09/2019 06:40

Can anyone tell me why Labour just threw another election?

It's simple really, the Labour party are too scared of being honest with those who they hope will vote for them. Actually the same could be said of the Conservatives, whats left of them !

Parker231 · 19/09/2019 06:46

Boris has already said he won’t make an election pact with the Brexit party.

SegregateMumBev · 19/09/2019 06:53

An Election pact isn't the same as forming a coalition or some sort of confidence and supply arrangement AFTER the election, when the numbers are known.

frumpety · 19/09/2019 07:00

I think we can all agree Boris will do whatever suits Boris best ?
